An update would be cool! I was looking for something for my new carbon fiber paddle. My kayak is cheap, but I'm making Kydex keel guards. I washed it yesterday now it's raining. I just ordered 32oz flitz ceramic coating for $45, getting ready for memorial day kayak camping trip!

As a boat derailed i dont know that coating plastic really does much. Maybe protects the color and potentially from dry rot? Most of the time ceramic coating and wax is to help protect the paint and gelcoat so it doesn’t fade get chalky and makes it easier to wash

How long have you been detailing my man? I professionally did it for 7yrs.

@@CaptChrisCanning do you think this is better than 303 protectant?
@thomasternus99304 жыл бұрын
@@CaptChrisCanning I’ve been doing it for almost a year by myself. Started my own buisness with a couple boats and just manage 6 or 7. I’m doing well for a kid my age

Thanks for the demo. I've been wondering if that kind of stuff really was worth the money. I'll probably get some for my truck.
@CaptChrisCanning4 жыл бұрын
Honestly It’s been about a week since I put it on the kayak. It’s really worked well, super soft plastic

Good stuff, never thought of something like this. Did you also flip it and do the bottom of the yak? Good stuff, keep up the good work!🐟😎👍🏼🛹
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
I did not, due to the sun setting so quickly. It kinda caught up to me... I will be doing the bottom of the kayak. Watch, I might go even faster

Nice! Thanks for sharing, I need to put it on mine...my Old Town is in black water and it can stain!
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
You should! It is a good way to protect the kayak from the stain of river water or lake water

So we like watching you do fast forward it looks like your actually doing something , just kidding , 😆 then you sprayed the rod holder !!!! We all know how you like to donate your rods to the ocean gods ! Now you made it slick so they jump out faster ! 👍🏼. 😂

Any thoughts yet on how long this was effective, or how often you'll need to redo it? Thanks for the info!
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
It’s been pretty effective thus far. I would say every 6 months or so. Maybe 4 months if you use the kayak a couple times a week

Might be good if you have to store your expensive boat in the sun. I don’t. I occasionally spray my Old Town with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Soap and water removes anything I get on my boat!
@CaptChrisCanning4 жыл бұрын
303 is what I had on it before. This is just a step-up from 303. Should protect longer and repeal even more
@FishOnChannel4 жыл бұрын
That one looks more for like Cosmetics protection. Do you think is any product out there that help prevent scratches.
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
ehhhhh No way.... on a kayak I don't think so. A true 9h ceramic should, but I haven't seen one put on a kayak yet.
@tklosterman113 жыл бұрын
I would recommend wearing nitrile gloves when handling ceramic and graphene products, spray on or otherwise. …. And put 3 coats on the hull, it’s like waxing your skis….. wooosh :)

What are you thoughts about using a car ceramic product like Opticoat on a kayak?
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
Go for it man! They’re made for plastics too
@p3purr3 жыл бұрын
Does it make it slick like 303 does? 303 made it to slick and a lot more difficult to load my SOT on to the top of my car.
@CaptChrisCanning3 жыл бұрын
Not going to lie, it does make it pretty sick. Really I think any protective product will make the plastic slick.

i went for a test in rough water ( i was so rough that i could not fish cuz it was too violent) with the salty pdl and it did amazing. i would have sank if i had another kayak. the banana shape helps with the swells. i had 0 water go into the inside of the kayak. its amazing..
