I know many people are perfectly happy living and dying in the place they were born in. But im so glad I have this need to keep moving. It has made me experience so many cultures and mindsets and changed me to become open-minded and tolerant. I agree with everything you say, except that for me change is not scary, just essential for my well-being.

I relate yet how do you not let the judgement of those who stay in one place not shake you? They ask questions and make comments as though it will catch up with me one day. Yet I'm 52 and fine so far. I worry maybe at 62 I'll wish I banked the money, yet my mother died in a car accident in her 50s and I don't want to die never having experiences either. Can you share how you overcome the judgement (if you get judged)? Thank you
@ilsevanheerden49766 ай бұрын
@@MaineEmOcean I suppose people can sense not to judge me, maybe because my life is so obviously so much more exciting and I kept getting better and better-paying jobs whilst becoming super-skilled. Also, I'm the one who's financially free while they'll work til 65 at the very least. Actually, my friends and family want their daughters to emulate me!

@@ilsevanheerden4976thank you for answering. I am lacking the confidence it is the right thing to do for me and I must give off the vibe "they could be right, I'm making a mistake" yet as I mentioned before, my mom was killed in a car accident and to live a "safer" life according to them promises nothing!! Thank YOU 🪷🌿

I made some major life changes in my 50s. Most were positive, or were eventually positive. They were freeing. Many of my old friends are not my current friends and I have encountered some peculiar hostility toward me for the changes I made in my life. I have only a few good friends now, but am much happier with myself. I look back at the past now as a former life. I am not that person anymore and am happier for it. I have more freedom personally and financially, despite an expensive divorce. I went through two major career changes where I thought I might not recover, but I have climbed back up the ladder and make more money now than I ever have. I am not rich, but comfortable now. Fear, is my greatest challenge. Fear of change. I had to learn that bad things can happen, but I will be okay. Because of that, I am a better version of myself. I am 62 now. My fifties were a decade of change. I have learned to look forward to this new decade.

I admire you for pushing your life for yourself. I was never for myself. I am responsible for that. I missed out. I thought I was obligated to everyone but myself. 61 years old and no family, no nothing. I took care of my father for 9 years until he passed and now am retiring, so I can move to be near my mom. The last few years she's pushing me to retire and be near her so I'm going in 6 weeks. Watching your video helps me to think more for myself. I'll be there for my mom but hopefully can create some counterbalance to that.

Some great advice... You are right there is no perfect time....I've battled that myself. So glad to see you took the leap of faith and took on the new lifes adventure. I'm in my 50's and doing the same....I'm not happy in the US and haven't been for over 14 years. I've enjoyed many countries over extensive long term travels of 14 years. l leave to Southeast Asia in a little less than 4 weeks to work on where I want to move to. Looking forward to seeing where you settle in. Of course no hurry...enjoy your journey.

Yeah...the most difficult challenging moments travelling as a solo woman are now my most precious memories and a source that boosts my self-esteem(and hilarious stories for my friends and students😂😂😂) .Never said to anyone of that time in London in 2000:just arrived in my new flat studio:I remained stuck in hotpants and bra closed in a small room and in front of me a window and behind that window a bunch of hot,horny,sexy African immigrants (later i found it was a social centre for immigranti and refugees) who started catcalling and do appreciations and i only wanted to disappear and bury myself.After 30 long minutes my new roommate came back home and saved me from the shame and the embarassement😂😂😂
