Great video Chris. After my last marathon last year in October (3:31); had a long think of what I wanted this coming year. More time in the gym, running 4 days a week. Not sure if I’ll do another marathon any time soon. A few half’s and maybe a few 10’s. Just gonna focus on being healthy and long term running. Turning 56 this year, body doesn’t quite bounce back as fast as it did before.

You've done so much for so many. Being selfish to reach your own goals is probably long overdue. Go smash it 👊🏻

All the best Chris.....after being injured for 10 months and getting back into running again i can totally agree with everything you've said, one big thing for me is to stop thinking what others think. Wish you a good and joyful 2025

Having had a similar mindset over the past few years, particularly last year, and not achieving my set goals, I’ve fallen into a low motivation wilderness since. I’d love to know how to get the dedication back, but fingers crossed it works out for you in 2025 🤞🏻

Your desire will return. One big change I did this year was to drop Strava and make my Garmin private. It feels great to just run for me with no one commenting on the run. Every run I do now is fun (long run, speed work, etc). You can always go back to it if you want.

My philosophy has changed… now I have reached very soon to be 54I have stopped chasing PB’s and realise speed sessions need to become less intense, priority is to keep running not to reach goals that my body says are unachievable. Run smarter to stay sharper 🎉

Not sure if you have all your races in the calendar yet but I did Hastings Half in March last year and it was a game changer for Manchester just a month later. The first half is basically all up but the benefit and confidence it gave me going into Manchester was something else! Highly recommend 👌 Good luck Fordy you will smash it! #catfordfordy 😊

I’m rooting for you Fordy. It seems to me that filming during a race could potentially be a distraction from reaching your goals. I for one would give up seeing you run during the race if it helps you focus. Show me your kit before you start then talk to us after you finish. I want all the best for you.

Interesting. I’ve always wanted running to be social but I’ve never had someone who had the same speed / training goals as be. So I’m always antisocial for the sake of getting the sessions I need to get done done.
