Chellsie, injuries early in training are honestly a blessing. While I was training for my first marathon, I completely messed up my knee from landing badly from a bell kick. Took lots of time off to recover and that built up a burning desire to train. When the knee was finally stable enough, I had the best training season ever and it was so surreal. The marathon got canceled because of covid, but I’ll always remember the wonderful training and the injury that made it all the more rewarding. You’ll come back from this ankle mishap stronger than before!! ❤️

Nothing but good vibes for your ankle. Just a tip to strengthen them trace the ABCs with your toes while you're just chilling out. Lifetime of weak ankles and former tumbler it was a tip that saved me from many more ankle injuries than I should've had. Side note make up tip: get a fluffier blending brush, no extra product and run it along the edges of the darker color to blend it out. It's a game changer to make the look more put together. As a 36 year old, mom of 2 as well, you are freaking awesome. Keep being a bada$$!!!❤

That sucks...tough sport, sorry to hear about the ankle. Sounds like you have a good support team and will make wise decisions.. have a level 8 gymnast that I work with on strength and conditioning as well as rehab who rolled her ankle back in 2019 and was initially given the wrong diagnosis but I recognized it as a grade 2.. happened early in the season and we decided that we wanted to get it back to 100% instead of dealing with CAI, chronic ankle instability, that is a problem for so many that come back before the healing and rehab is complete. Before this past season shut down we were rewarded with a top 15 all around score and a perfect 10 on beam. Take your time and do it right!

Chellsie, Happy 🍁🦃Thanksgiving from 🇨🇦 Canada! It’s Thanksgiving north of the border. You are such an inspiration to all. You deserve to be named to the US National team!! I want to acknowledge that one of the things that is so unprecedented and incredible about your gymnastics journey. Your longevity in the sport is what truly inspires! Gymnasts come & go ... but your skills have been world class level from 2003 Pan Am Games & 2003 World Championships to your 2020 comeback. I am very sad that your were not invited to 2012 national championships. You deserved an opportunity to demonstrate your potential or to simply to say goodbye to your huge fan base, in a dignified manner. You have been such an amazing ambassador of the sport, you deserved an invite out of respect for the years you put into USA gymnastics. All the best on a speedy recovery from your recent ankle injury. We believe in you!!! You have overcome so many obstacles. You can do it!! Get well soon!

I'm so sorry to hear about your injury!! Sprains are notoriously tricky and slow to heal as ligaments don't have blood vessels. (Less blood supply = slower healing time) But I'm really glad you have a good physical therapist, I'm sure you'll get it back 100% within a month or two. That being said, the makup tutorial was a super fun idea! I hope we get more. Purple works really well with your coloring, so I get why it's your favorite! I'm also super impressed with your ambidexterity. I could never ever master that! But I don't know if there's necessarily a right or wrong way of doing makup. Maybe some techniques work better than others, but it's about self-expression. For me, I find that contouring right above the crease (on the bone) instead of directly in the crease really opens the eye up and adds more depth.

I know that sounds totally weird....haha...I have hooded eyes, so putting eye makeup on is a pain in the butt. I have to basically build my eyeshadow out (as shown by a makeup artist youtube tutorial...lol), so that it makes my eyes look larger, and you can actually SEE the eyeshadow! lol It ends up being like winged eyeliner....one side doesn't look like the other, then the other side....so you keep building, until it's a disaster of eyeshadow. lol Anyways, you look gorgeous!

*Eagle grip:* no problem *Mascara with your dominant hand on **_both_** eyes:* no can do! 😂 When you said "we're doing purple," I was thinking obviously, *on days that end in Y we wear purple eyeshadow!* 💜😁 Advice not critique: If you switch the dense pencil brush out for a small blending brush you'll have a much easier and faster time on your outer-v. And it's forgiving because it's fluffier, you won't have to worry about harsh lines- (I read the description). Like a Morphe M506 www.morphe.com/products/m506-tapered-mini-blender (And if any of that doesn't make sense, welcome to my world when you use gymnastics terms I've either never heard of, or can't picture without a visual)! 😂 Your poor ankle(s)! 😬 I know purple's your favorite color but jeez...! Get well soon! 💜

@@ChellsieMemmel23 Was going to suggest the same! I find it faster to blend eyeshadow with a fluffier brush like MAC 217 or that Morphe one. Still - loved your look!

@@vmurt Lol I thought about a 217 but it's bigger, figured going from a pencil brush to a small blending brush would be an easier transition, plus the outer-v is a small area so a more precise blending brush is easier to work with. Although I have 2 MAC 217's and love them, Morphe has great brushes for great prices- $8 dollar Morphe M506 vs. $28 dollar MAC 217! That's $20 dollars in savings! 😊 Agreed that her makeup always looks great, even as a teen! Back when we used those dreaded plastic eyeshadow applicators! I hope my comment didn't come off as criticism, bc that couldn't be further from my intentions, it was solely based on ease of use/saving time. 💜

I injured my ankle last Saturday as well. Partially tore the ligaments in my right ankle again, 3rd time it has happened in 4 years... Risk of still playing volleyball I guess. Hope your ankle heals soon!

Sorry about your ankle, but it’ll be okay! Smart on you to keep it light and let it heal (wish I did that in high school... nope)! You’ve inspired me to relearn a Valdez! It isn’t easy for me, but it’s doable!

Thank you and so glad you can do the valdez again!

I get really bad ankle sprains a lot with gymnastics. My ankles are just weak. It is always on the simplest of skills because I have too much power. I twisted my ankle really bad in late June by doing a round off back handspring. I was trying so hard to get my beck tuck again but my round off felt weird so I just did a round off and when I landed from my rebound, and I twisted my ankle. I could barely walk and was limping for a few days. Urgent care told me my ankle wasn't broken so they let me go, but the next day, they called me and told me that it was broken (even though they told me that there was a chance it was broken when I got there). I had to go down and get a boot. And I went to another place and they had me do another xray and my ankle wasn't broken and the calcium that they saw was old. It was a bad sprain, and I was out for about three-four weeks. But I was able to come in to the gym in that time and just work bars. And I slowly came back. I now wear ankle braces on both of my ankles only when I do gymnastics to prevent injury. I usually take them off when I do conditioning or doing physical therapy on the ankles so they get strong.
