Every animal knows what sex is, but only social animals like humans, and those with some form of language, have anything resembling gender. It’s a verbal short hand. When the particular word or phrase no longer accurately represents the thing it’s assigned to, that thing gets a different word. Why, when a woman goes through menopause or has a hysterectomy and stops producing the defining female hormones and/or no longer has the designated female parts, Why is she still referred to as a woman, if by your own argument she’s no longer one? And if that’s not enough, what if all defining characteristics of a particular sex are removed and an individual is completely sexless? What then? How do they define their gender? EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ANYONE ELSE DOES. It’s how they feel. It’s social. It doesn’t have anything to do with biology. If humans existed in solitude around no other humans, we wouldn’t have genders. Honestly, the biology excuse only serves cis people who don’t want to admit that they /feel/ inherently cisgendered, as jf /feeling/ and having a personally defined identity is somehow a bad or invalid thing.

I love this! Considering top surgeons is such an ordeal and it's really cool to see you process all this information. Before I had surgery, Dr. Garramone was in my top 3 as well! Though I'm super happy with my results, part of me wishes I chose him because I've heard his bedside manner and general demeanor is so much more superior than who I went to, which I didn't think was important until post-op when I had a ton of questions and concerns and my surgeon was completely inaccessible.

That's a brilliant choice of surgeon! I hope you've considered getting the surgery well, in that case I wish you all the best with it. I know many people have had this surgery but it's not NOTHING, so you should be well prepared, but I'm sure you're gonna be okay.
