I only drove FSD 12.5.1 a couple of times, and now 12.5.1..1 is waiting for me to try it out this morning. 12.3.6 was good but with some significant gotchas, 12.5 and following is so much better. I find myself excited by the trend.

The biggest improvement I've had with v12.5.1 is the improvement at intersections including positioning, decision making and comfort thru the turns. So much better. Just got v12.5.1.1 yesterday after using v12.5 for awhile. Speed control is the biggest problem now. Better but needs improvement.

Awesome idea! Only potential issue here is that half the 12.5.1 videos were filmed when it was light out (which is an advantage in terms of visibility) whereas all 12.3.6 vids were at night

It looks to me like it is nighttime. Everybody has their lights on. It is just the camera, adjusting the light.

I don't think it's much of a disadvantage at night b/c the headlights of cars are easily detected --probably easier to detect a car at night than during the day (unless the car has no headlights on).

@@kenbob1071 Detecting is one thing, positioning and estimating its speed is another. Same goes for the road itself, Tesla doesn't really do highdef maps of everything like Waymo, if it cannot see it because it's too dark (or it's obscured because of the glare of someone else's headlights) it will behave differently.

A little tricky because .5.1 never had cars ahead of it at the stop sign which seemed to trip up .3 similarly you're supposed to yield to cars across and none of the cross traffic drivers forfeited their right of way like multiple .3 drivers.

Does 12.5.1 speed in active school zones, cross double yellow lines when turning left on divided roadways, make in appropriate lane changes for planned navigation (esp in heavy traffic), and set incorrect speeds on changing roadways that persist until a speed sign is encountered (40 mph in a residential zone is inappropriate AND ILLEGAL)?

I can say for sure that 12.3.6 on HW3 doesn't like certain conditions, like when direct sunlight gets across the road through trees. It tries to slow down for deep shadows quite a bit. I think this video is pretty flawed in a way that the lighting conditions are totally different. Interesting comparison, but this "little" fact invalidates the whole thing.

One inherent problem with FSD is the human bias. Whenever there's positive reviews about FSD in videos such as yours, Tesla owners (who are the only ones who are watching these videos) tend to like it. When someone is critical of it, they (Tesla owners or prospective owners) blame the driver or say it's never happened to them.

12.5.4 stops when the traffic light is green, accelerates too aggressively when it should not and misses exits, phantom brakes in the middle of the street. 12.5.4 is a toy to tinker with, not something you can use in real life, just like all prior FSD versions prior to 12.3.6. On the other hand, 12.3.6 can comfortably take over 99% of your driving. 12.3.6 is a true supervised FSD that's reliable and good enough to impress any Tesla haters. Please bring back 12.3.6 or fix 12.5.4 quickly. I'm on hardware 3, 2020 Model S.
