Beautiful church and Nativity scene at your place - great to see and that you guys went to church🫶🙏 I hope you were able to get your sons baptized there too when they were little 🕊🙌 Also for Catholics (not just in PH), today January 12th concludes the Christmas season, which is the last Sunday after Epiphany, or Three Wise Kings Day on January 6th, so it’s close to your Christmas Day, January 7th. All the best to you, kids, parents and family in Russia - and future return to your beloved tropical home, Philippines🏝

When you cook Champorado use sticky rice (bigas na malagkit), coconut milk and pure cacao powder. Its more yummier to taste.
@pinoyislander44003 күн бұрын
We cook regular rice for champorado. As long as there kakao, tsokolate or whatever then it's alright for us with a bit sugar of course depends on one's taste.

Champorado with coconut milk is very rare in Philippines. It is usually with cows milk, evaporated or condensed, or sometimes powdered. Just like you cooked…
@ValentinaLovingPhilippines2 күн бұрын
Wow! I’m surprised. I was sure it’s with coconut milk usually
@mnm21566 сағат бұрын
sometimes, if we can find in the store, we mix half of the rice with sticky (or glutinous) rice to make it thicker. And some recipes use half evaporated milk and half condensed milk. The chocolate (if we can find) is usually tablea for a more chocolatey/coffee-like flavour. Basically, base is sticky rice, chocolate, milk, sugar - some put in Ube if they want to cut back on the caffeine. If we use coconut milk, it's usually for desserts like suman and other "kakanin".

Hi Val, you might want to try this Garlic Shrimp Recipe. Fry garlic in oil and butter so it doesn’t burn. When garlic turns golden Add the shrimps Add soy sauce Add oyster sauce A teaspoon of sugar 1/3 cup water or Sprite Chilli flakes if you want it a bit spicy. Cook until sauce is reduced. Soy sauce and oyster sauce are already salty so I don’t use salt. But if you want to add salt, go ahead. Eat with boiled rice. Maybe you’ll like it! ❤❤

Wow, love it❣Try to experiment and sprinkle a bowl of champorado with walnuts (just an idea I haven’t tried yet). Yes, it does make sense to add a little bit of salt - I think salt brings out the flavor to not just savory but sweet dish as well. And you know what, I think that’s how the famous champorado in PH is paired with the “tuyo” or salty dried fish came about; remembering this from the videos I watched - Valentina, you really got the Filipino taste bud, including Misha always equating everything to Filipino taste😘
