A ton of big names came in hoping to carve a reputation off their hide, while a star already placed in the champion’s rumble sought an advantage going into the finals. In the end, if this rumble has taught us anything it is to always expect the unexpected. And just when we think we’ve seen it all… it ‘did’ happen. Captain Jack Sparrow, not just the dark horse of this rumble but the entirety of this series would do the unthinkable… stealing the victory from the biggest names in Hollywood to become a champion. We talk about characters who have been underestimate their entire lives, Jack Sparrow himself fit the bill. But who was my MVP of this actor’s rumble? Let’s get down to the numbers: Of the thirty actors featured in this rumble, 15 competitors secured the most eliminations (Half the roster). The highest count reached ‘4’ eliminations, which is three points higher than the average ‘1’ elimination. I give the Golden MVP for ‘coolest’ performance to: The Marine a.k.a. John Triton Essentially, this was John Cena’s acting debut at the time portraying a recently discharged U.S. Marine who pursued a band of diamond thieves after they kidnapped his wife. It wasn’t the greatest movie ever (I’ve only seen it once) and some fans called it overblown with some fans deeming it so bad its good or just really, really bad. But I’ll tell you what wasn’t bad… The Marine’s performance in this rumble. Just like Cena himself, the Marine proved to be a tough individual and would’ve gotten away with the victory hadn’t he been eliminated. Although Cena’s biggest success outside the WWE would be his portrayal as The Peacemaker, I wouldn’t be shocked if we see The Marine getting one last shot to become a champion. The Dull Participation Medal for the ‘lamest’ performance goes to: Bruce Willis I don’t know what it is about Bruce. He was a great action star up until his recently diagnosed condition limited his acting work, but when it comes to these rumbles… he just can’t seem to catch a break. Not like he was eliminated by the worst wrestler in this match (Steven Seagal was a tough adversary) but it feels as though Bruce could barely hold his own with the younger actors. It’s not to suggest that it is the end of the world, there will come a time when Bruce has his moment in the sun. At least it’s not as bad as being an actor reduced to producing family comedies when they just can’t cut it in the action zone no more. An A-List star now joins the ranks of many great champions who aim to be the next man to secure a Ricky J. champion’s rumble belt. In the meantime, a few questions remain unanswered: Can we expect more unbelievable moments still to come? Will we see more colorful film characters having a crack at this rumble? Will the success of one pirate lead to another? But the biggest question of them all: Who’s next?

Updated roster for an eventual "improved created characters" re-make Rumble. I have not added anyone from this episode, even though I believe there were some close calls (Ryan Reynolds felt too jacked, David Hasselhoff was some sort of Ken plastic doll model but the face was accurate, etc...)
