I am in the early stages of fully outfitting my shop, so good suggestions on tools are very welcome. As an engineer, I have always preferred the metric system since it makes the math soooo much easier, which means that I make far more pieces cut to the right dimensions that fit in where they are supposed to go in my project and far fewer pieces that end up in scap bucket/shelf waiting for a second chance at life. So the Jessem small metric is now on my X-mas wish list. However, as you said a good set of aluminum setup blocks would still be very handy. The trouble is that I have not be able to find a set of blocks that are like the ones that you showed at 18 seconds in this video that are in metric. Does anybody know where I could get a set in metric?
@HelloAnthony11 күн бұрын
I have the JessEm guides in both large and small metric sizes. When setting them both to the same measurement, they are about .5mm off from each other. Not a big deal for some things, but if i'm making a critical cut, I tend to rely on my setup blocks.
@MWAWoodworks11 күн бұрын
There's actually a procedure in the manual to reset the gauge if it got out of whack in the shipping process. It's pretty easy (four nuts). I checked all mine (I have 3) and they all match at the blade. I checked the metric against a ruler because I only have one of those.

Instead of that magic eraser, use the bottom of a rubber shoe or boot. 🤷🏻♂️ As for 3D printing, it’s the only task I haven’t picked up yet but plan to. Learning Vectric and CNC wasn’t so bad. But 3D printing intimidates me. Maybe you could branch out and help people get into that.
@MWAWoodworks11 күн бұрын
Well I can start by telling you 3D printing is waaaaay easier than CNC. The learning curve and range of possible things that could go wrong are far less. Even if you want to design your own parts in CAD, the actual printing process is press-and-go.
