Hello SIr! I have about 35 years in IT, Aviation Electronics in the US ARMY and electronics tech. Overclocking should be looked at from the basic layout. For instance, I was challenged to build an AMD FX-9590 and sustain the highest possible OC without losing stability as well. I bumped the bus frequency and dropped the cpu multiplier to achieve 5.2 GHz using only an AIO Deepcool Captain 240mm.

I have an idea why shooting by non working frequencies might work. The enemy to speed in computers is capacitance of the switches in the silicon. This means that at high frequency, the signals will get killed (The higher the frequency, the more a capacitor will look like a short). But because we work with so high frequencies, it gets into the black magic voodoo of radio stuff, where open circuits can look like a short, and short circuits opens (at certain RF frequencies). So by going by what is potentially a dead spot frequency, can maybe start working again at a higher frequency. The trace inductance, and FET capacitance will be acting like mini tuned circuits, so there's probably peaks and troughs all over the high end of the frequency spectrum.

-21 degrees C. That's the best case you can get with normal table salt and ice if you use a weight ratio of 33/100 salt to ice. -15 should be reachable in most cases (just be sure you mix it really well, it needs to be a good slurry) so I'm pretty sure it would change something.
@J0ermungand
@J0ermungand 5 жыл бұрын
Salt in water let's you easily get that water down to -20°C though. In fact, adding salt to ice cubes will drop their temperature to that point, as melting ice requires energy (breaking of the crystal lattice). And since you're not heating it, that energy comes from the surrounding, dropping the 0°C ice cubes to more like -20°C ice water. So, you know, salting that ice water is gonna get you the *significant* drop in temperature.

Would be fun to se the power consumption of that beast. Would be fun if you could make a video on consumption overall, many are clueless over how the consumption runs away once you start overclockning, and are also clueless about how much more efficient things can become with undervolting and/or slight underclocking. Specially with something heavy running like Linpack preferably LinX 0.9.5 and OCCT at the same time. Seen consumption vary a lot depending on the program, so far LinX and OCCT tweaked for the highest FPS (lowest shader complexity and resolution) is what's loaded my system the most.

You should have a water pump or some type of water flow device pushing water through the rad fins. I recommend a fish tank oxygenator. Float the rad in the water just barely on a rack, then have the oxygenator flow water over the fins. That should keep the heat soak down more. Also the salting method works best with rock/ice cream salt. It'll melt the water but as you add more ice and get to full saline saturation, the water temp will drop more, and with the oxygenator, save the ice. And give Phil a raise for nailing Du Hast! 😅
