I really like this new build editing style. Not so in-depth like the full-on tutorial style, and not just a quick montage. Still get all the fun "Jay Moments" and the stuff we wouldn't see with simple montages, but doesn't feel like it drags on and on like a full uncut version. Cheers to Phil for the editing.

David Robinson fair enough, that’s the other side of the coin, but i find it funny that in prior videos when i would go that nuts during the montage we’d get commenters complaining that they just wanted to see slow boring b-roll shots. all i’m saying is that a montage having less effects or cut in a more traditional manner is also a *conscious creative decision* that we’re always tweaking and trying to balance. it’s honestly more like i let myself go nuts on this sequence because it’s my computer, but i usually hold back and cut more traditionally on other videos where the vibe/aesthetic of the build doesn’t match up to my high-energy style due to the feedback we’ve gotten that i was talking about.

I loved seeing how although your channel drastically evolved (for the better), better production and quality, you are still the down to earth guy ever. I knew that as a new viewer watching the new videos, you are my favorite tech guy ever no matter what. Watching the old videos proved that even more, seeing how this channel developed and the insane amount of work put into it. I’m glad you never listened to the haters. You were always so transparent and honest, letting us know exactly how you felt. I’m glad you never changed and that things just keep getting better for you and the channel. You deserve it all and I’m very proud :) I love what you do and keep it up! :D I learned lots thanks to you Loved Skunkworks, loved Red Mist and it all. Update! This is the build i put into this amazing case. Some cuts and bruises due to the limited size of it and some.... "Creative" cable routings to say the least. But good god is this an angry little beast. Case: ENTHOO EVOLV SHIFT AIR Ryzen 7 3700x Asus ROG Strix B550-I Hyperx Fury 3600mhz ram CL16 (16gb) Asus ROG Strix 120mm AIO Corsair SF600 SFX 250gb M.2 for OS /Installs 1tb Samsung Evo SSD for general storage /games and a RTX 2070 Super to pull the damn thing. Stil remains for it to "stretch its legs" however, so if you have any suggestions im all ears. ProTip: If you neglect the I/O shield, depending on the motherboard you can and/or will cause a short and blow a fuse... Thanks again Jay for the inspiration! Keep doing the good work.

Used this case for a year but had to change because of shutting off issues. At first i thought the gpu was getting too hot but at the end i think it may have been the power supply over heating. Cpu temps were fine and the gpu wasnt going beyond 80 degrees celcius. I agree that a fan at the top of the case is needed. The back glass panel needs to have vents for gpu air intake. The front metal panel (where the fans are) needs additional venting area as i believe the provided ones dont allow for adequate air flow. I had a 8700k and 2080ti founders for reference.

I used to use the Corsair Obsidian 250D, its amazing how far Mini-ITX cases have come since then. However this one seems kinda tall for an ITX, but it probably has the same volume as the 250D. I did manage to cram a 240mm AIO and a 200mm front intake fan into that thing.

did a Evolv Shift 2 build last week and this case is a amazing. Went for the 800W silverstone psu because the GPU is the 3080TI and I'm still worried about the GPU being too much for it, but so far, so good. CPU was a 5500X on a Gigabyte Aorus ITX board.

You can cover the corsair logo on the CPU with a small piece of black vinyl. You loose a lit bit of RGB, but then you can rotate it any direction you want without having to worry about the logo facing the wrong direction.

Firstly, looks much nicer than my dual aio build in the same case. As for the heat issues, if you replace that 140 included fan with a high pressure/airflow fan, you can get positive pressure with the rads set to vent. front mounted fan still expels air very well, metal front cools what gets sucked back in quite a bit and makes a big difference overall

I use a Shift X (the taller version) with a Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition, and have the 120 radiator for the GPU in the bottom as exhaust (stock fan turned to exhaust too). I found this approach dramatically reduced temps, and the powers of convection aren't even close to strong enough to impact the heat dissipation negatively. In fact I run everything as negative pressure (240 mm AIO for cpu) and it works flawlessly
@frickingphil

Torstein Norum Bugge i might try flipping all the fans then, negative pressure sounds counter-intuitive but i’m always happy to be wrong about something 👍
@ichinichisan

@@frickingphil The big argument against negative pressure is that you'll have to clean the dust out more often: Negative pressure means that air (and dust) will get sucked in through all the cracks and crevices. Whereas positive pressure - with all the intakes using a dust filter! - will tend to blow dust out the cracks.
@frickingphil
@frickingphil 5 жыл бұрын
@@ichinichisan yep, good to know...personally i'm not too worried about it because i don't mind cleaning it out (i've already removed the filters anyway to try and improve the airflow, so basically i don't care about dust lol)

Being my 3rd miTX build I found this one the more challenging one to do. But I guess that was partly due to me never using an RGB AIO setup before either. I like the look of the case it is quiet enough, and watching this video gave me some sense of nostalgia from when I did my own build - minus some of the higher priced components used. I used an i5-9600k, Asus ROG Strix Z370-i, Samsung EVO 970 NVMe 1tb, and GTX 1660ti GPU I don't do 4K gaming currently but I'm glad to see an 2080 fits into the case (the EVGA black edition 1660ti 3.5 slot card advertised as a 2.0 width definitely threw me off so I swapped that with an Gigabyte 2.0 Windforce GPU instead.

Have had the other version of this case (shift x) for over a year. So far haven't found any replacements for the front panel for better air flow. So ended up cutting and modifying my front panels to add better air floow. I still hope they come out with a mod for the front panel would buy it rigth alway.

I use M.2 NVME drives for builds now for the same reason. It's two less cables per drive. On gaming rigs, a cheap NVME is going to be speed than you can take advantage of and the prices really have gotten more reasonable. I've also eliminated disk drives on my own builds, if I need one I have a cheap USB one I can plug in and use real quick. I want as few cables as possible on the front side of my MB, my current build has only the cables that have to be connected with a few optional ones that will be hidden by my GPU (vertical so it can hide a lot).

I have a pretty old case, think closer to ancient rather than old. It is a Cooler Master 'Centurion 5'. It's a great case to work in, the only real hassle is that a lot of motherboards these days have the SATA ports running along the opposite edge to the usb ports and on a full size ATX mb they are a *very* close fit and fiddly as hell to get to.

Modded my phanteks shift by removing the SSD tray area and cutting out holes in the rear panel to add an intake fan, gotta say it does help by adding another source of air but the problem I find is the proximity of the GPU backplate to the tempered glass was a good idea until reality kicked in. I noticed the tempered glass really holds on to heat for a long time and that probably adds to the thermals of the GPU when the back is having heat radiated back onto it from the glass. Id love to mod a side panel to have vent slits by the gpu so I can have the gpu fans sticking out and taking in fresh air from the outside rather than up against the motherboard.
