Sceez, man, this song is NOT my style, I'm an old rocker, but the message is great. I am a grandfather to three girls and I was touched by your reaction. I am happy you have your grandpa as a big part of your life.

This was literally my relationship with my grandfather 😢, he was a Southern white preacher and took an old school bus, to pick up children of every race, to go to church, and I definitely thought he walked on water ❤

My Granddad has been gone 27 years this year. This song was him. I have his coveralls, hat and pipe in my hope chest. In my eyes, he had wings and a halo here on Earth. I’m pretty sure he walked on water, too. Spend every second you can with your grandfather, and cherish every moment.

This song also reminds me of my Pappy (who was actually my step grandfather). Pappy had a way of telling stories, and just being involved with my sister's and my life growing up. As an adult, I know that my grandmother never allowed he and my mother to have a good relationship, I am glad she didn't do the same with my sister and I.

You let those tears flow Luv...no shame in showing your emotions. I can relate to this. I was blessed to have both parents in my life. My parents were quite a bit older when I came into this world. I just turned 62 and I was the baby of the family. Both parents served in World War II. My father volunteered in the Canadian Army and my mother served in Her Majesty's Royal Navy in England. If Dad was still here, sadly he passed 20 years ago, they would have celebrated their ,,,, get ready for this number,,,,78th wedding anniversary!!!! I never knew what it was to not have a father figure in my life and I am thankful I did. I cannot imagine not having him raising me with my mom. Sadly I never knew my grandfather on my Dad's side. I did have my Grandad on my mom's side though. They lived in England so I only saw him whenever they came over to Canada to visit. So I really miss not having my Grandad here in this country. However I did have my dad. I will never respect any man more than him. I am sorry that you didnt have your father in your life but seeing your honest emotional reaction to this song, you had a fantastic Grandfather and you loved him so much and you ,from what you said,,, he loved you. I will say too that none of us are ready or prepared for the day they leave us in this world. I am not ready for my Mom to pass and guess what,,,she will be 100 years old in September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I prepared for her time to pass?? Absolutely not. Thank you for sharing your story with us all and your honest reaction. 💕💕💟💟

You often find that children can relate to their grandparents far more than to their parents. I could listen to my grandfather for hours telling me of his time in the army. He was kind, stable and dependable but was treated very badly by his son shortly before he died. It was after one of the visits by his son that I saw him cry.for, the first time. As he was dying in hospital he said to me “Who will protect your grandmother from him?” Well, he got control of her and treated her badly too.

Your reaction made me cry. This song has always reminded me of my own grandfather. He had a white collar job until he retired, so he did actually wear starched white shirts that buttoned at the neck. Once he and my grandmother retired to the Ozarks, he wore a cowboy hat constantly, so I can relate to that too. We would sit on the porch and shell peas or snap peas and have wonderful talks. He died of emphysema in 1987. I still miss him to this day. Your reaction was so genuine I was crying too.

all of my grandparents died on both sides of the family years ago, didn't make it to their 70s. Was never that close as like in this video, but I still loved them. Grandparents are the glue, when my grandpa died, everyone kind of drifted away in their own direction from each other.

Awwww Sceez 🤗🤗🤗 This made me emotional! My me-do (mesh-oo = grandpa) and I were extremely close. I followed him everywhere. I used to ask him too many questions followed up by "why?" When he didn't know what to say, he would tell me, "That's the way the cookie crumbles!" 😂😂😂 So that was our saying. We would say it to each other randomly. I always thought it was extra special because one of the nick-names my dad called me was "Cookie." I lost my Me-do when I was 14 and it killed me! Still feels like it was yesterday. Can't believe it's been 23 years. I never got to that age where I could ask him for real adult advice, and that was always really hard for me.

What a great reaction to such an old song. I lost both of my grandfathers by the time I was 19 years old. They both died young. I am now 68 and I can still remember days like in this video. Just hanging with my grandpa's, following them around, asking a million questions! LOL Yes, it will happen one day to you as well, so cherish the time you have left with any of your older relatives. They are the people who started "your" family tree. Listen to their stories, make them feel just as important to you, as you are to them. Sometimes the younger generations forget their grandparents and parents won't be around forever. Love on them as much as you can while you can.

I didn't know either of my grandpa's, I only found my father when I was 32. But I always kept in mind what my momma told me about her dad. When is kids were young, when we would go around my momma's family, there was one brother that cussed him, called him sorry, and two of her sisters talked real bad about him to. My grandad was an alcoholic, and married a mean woman, (Snook's) who to was an alcoholic. They both worked at the Florence Prison as guards! I ask my mom why they talked so bad about their dad, she said, because he was one strict parent, he didn't have to hit any of us girls, but my hellraising brothers got the shit kicked outta them when they pushed it to far. He never was drunk when he disaplined any of us. My mom said that there were five of them, and her mom left him when he begun hitting her, she took the five kids, her mom had turn 40 had my mom, and two years later caught turburculocus . My granddad met the french canjun Snook's and she became pregnant. My grandparents were divorced before this happened. My mom's mother died at 45 , my mom only five. My mom said, yes he didn't say I love you, but by God he didn't let the county or state of Arizona take his children. He bartered and did all he knew how and always had a hog to butcher each year, Snook's had a huge acre of every kind of veggie there was, my mom said she worked hard helping Snook's with that field of veggies. She would can all summer and fall and they had plenty to get them through the winters, KY mom said she had to wring the chickens neck and pluck them., Would hoe cotton till her fingers bled. My grandad told Snook's the day he married her, that he would put her out of her misery if she laid one hand in any of the kids, she thought well I'll discipline my two. My granddad said NONE!! She did , my mom's two older sisters married and left leaving my mom with this horrible woman. One of my mom's sisters come by one day, and no one come to the door so she let herself in. She instantly heard my mom crying, and Snook's verbally abusing her. My mom said that the two smallest kids were her half brothers and baby sister. She was changing the baby boy and no disposables back then, cotton diapers. She was rubbing powder on the babies bottom, and Snook's walked in and said what are you doing? Playing with that baby's pee pee? She grabbed my mom's little arm and was shaking her and yelling, when all of a sudden someone grabbed a hand full of hair and yanked her ass to the floor. My mom eyes wide seen her nice size sister yank Snook's up on her feet, and my mom seen fear in that old baddleaxes eyes. My mom was only six or seven then and her sister had Snook's by the throat and said Martha Lene take the baby in the living room. She heard her sister say, " IF I EVER SEE OR HEAR OF YOU MISTREATING MARTHA, I WON'T WHIP YOUR ASS, ILL KILL YOU, AND BURY YOU SO FAR AWAY AND DEEP YOU'LL NEVER BE FOUND! GOT IT?? WE'LL JUST KEEP THIS BETWEEN US GIRLS , BECAUSE IF I TELL DADDY, YOU WILL WISH YOU WERE DEAD!! SHE LEFT THAT ROOM AND TOLD MY MOM TI LET HER KNOW IF SNOOK'S EVER YELLED OR TOUCHED HER AGAIN, THEN LEFT. SNOOKS NEVER TOUCHED HER AGAIN, BUT THERE WERE OTHER WAYS TO PUNISH HER, LIKE MAKING MOM HER LITTLE SLAVE!

I literally never met a grandparent of mine. I’m so jealous in a selfish sort of way that I wish I had been able to experience that relationship with someone.
