I love the way the pond looks. I can imagine the rest of your new ground will to as nice with the woods pushed back some. It is a lot of work but getting it so you can brushhog the areas you want open is a great start. You can also give your good trees a hand by knocking out the weed trees and brush. Clearing around it makes the most of the pond as it is now. Great work.
@heatherlane92702 жыл бұрын
It's a pretty spot - like the idea of leaving the buffer and extending the pond. And yes you will find lots to do - it is a farm where time and brush wait for no man.

That's a nicer looking pond than the first view of it was. Love how you opened it up and yeah, having a buffer between you & your neighbors is always nice, they aren't looking into your business and you aren't forced to see/pay attention to theirs.

That area you flattened out today would be a great place to put in a sand beach. Kids swimming. Oh my, put cut banks for a bout 7/8 of the pond, and a sand beach stocked with blue gill or sun perch. Kids and grandkids will love that. Awesome place for family reunions too.

Your pond looks so much better now. I enjoy watching mulching videos. I like watching forestry mulchers like the kind that go on something like a skid steer more but one of those wouldn’t be much use clearing around a pond bank. I can’t wait to see more of your new property transformation videos.
@danielmarek46092 жыл бұрын
Good things come to those who wait. Working on your property as time and equipment allows you will work just fine. Once it's done you'll be happy with the results. Impressed with your homestead and now it's expansion. You have the vision and will see it through to the end. Can't wait to see your future livestock roaming the new land!

That thing is like 10k beavers on steroids!!! Going to get me one for my birthday! We have 58k acres here in Alaska (homesteaded in 1927 by my father and 4 of my older brothers). I was the youngest of 8 boys and the last remaining here in the States. Allot of forest, a sizable deep water lake (landlocked) under ground spring fed from the Chugiak mountains. The shoreline needs trimming every spring so this thing would do some short work for sure! Rough mulching would feed the beaver and keep them from killing our trees!

You get better every time you use that thing, looks like fun and it’s great to watch. If you don’t get some sort of edible mushrooms pop up in all that mulch you can buy some cheap inoculations and introduce them if that’s something you’d enjoy😉

I say leave it grubbed out like it is... Now with sunlight going to it you maybe surprised what comes up. I know you will get rid of the earth mounds, but leaving trees gives it a more private feeling, instead of taking down all the trees and having it all open Nice little jetty sticking out and you can come down a fish and relax..your own oasis of calm. Unless the dogs are helping you fish Great videos thank you

My understanding is FORESTRY MULCHING is supposed to be better for soil conditioning. As a long time Eden Gardener, I can say mulching and composting has helped my soil and food forest tremendously. So I would recommend letting nature take its course and leave your clippings where they lay. Of course, I understand clean up if you were going to seed grass.Congratulations on your new land !!
