And us crystal guys go all quartz mining!!! But seriously large quartz matrix rocks for landscaping could bring in a nice second income stream. And cross over videos with other KZbin channels could also bring some extra funds to him as well. Sure are a lot of the new age crowd that would want big quartz boulders in their front yards. Pay big bucks for a couple of basketball size ones for a driveway pair. Just a thought. PS those hills had a gold rush back around the civil war at one time, so it is not totally nuts to think that. The only thing that stopped it was a bigger rush to Georgia. Still could be some yellow there.

You’re right Chris….This is the time for tics, chiggers and red bugs. I am like a magnet to this critters. That’s why I spray my cloths down with a chemical then allow them to dry in the sun before wearing them. the chemical stays on the cloths through 4 or 5 washings. This is great for early deer season with bows.

It's neat to see you work at a slightly less intense pace, I guess because you are not up against any definite deadlines. You seem more relaxed and have time to do the work as you want it, rather than driven to do something to meet a target. It's subtle, but I think it is there. Looking forward to more as and when time allows. Be well Chris. ;)

That's cool that you got to work some on your new property Chris. I like seeing the mulcher chop stuff down to the ground. Since I don't know squat about mulching I was wondering why on some if the thicker trees you put the mulcher to the side of it instead of the top. Using a rock picker gets down into the soil a little better and doesn’t take the soil off like a grader can. The grader will scrape off the next layer of rocks and it will seem like they grew!! 😂. Your farm tractor is big enough for a small to mid sized unit,,, more than enough for the farm you have. They are easy to find as rentals here, I’m not sure about there. There are many farms with a big ole rock pile in one corner from clearing the field with rock pickers each year or so, where I live now anyways in Central/Southern Alberta, Canada. That quarts vein may be a bit more of an issue of course, but pick the area and if top soil is deep enough elsewhere on the farm,,,, haul it over to where it’s just too thin. Successfully did that with a few fields we had in the foothills over the years. It nice establishing the property line, even fencing it if that works for ya. Good fences really DO MAKE good neighbours. It’s a lesson I learned early and have followed ever since. It has stopped a few property discrepancies right off when I had purchased new land.

I’ve seen skid steer mounted drum mulchers work through stuff like on this farm. Watching them work is a real treat. In very little time they can have acres cleared. In a few days’ time using one of those mulchers Chris would not have any more mulching left to do on the farm. The downside is they are not cheap if you get a real nice one and not every skid steer has the capability of running the better drum mulchers.

Lets see, quartz and round river cobbles? Sounds like GOLD country to me. Might need to do some prospecting there Chris. Shoot, that farm could pay for itself before even growing anything!!! Even without gold, large quartz landscaping rocks could bring a good income and he has the equipment laying around. Time to think outside the box when some easy money is on the table. And a road of that stuff sounds fun. Chris's own golden pathway! Sparkling in the sunlight with quartz scattered throughout. Dang dude. Sounds more fun that growing crops or raising cattle. If nothing else there could be some cross over KZbin videos out there with other channels who specialize in prospecting or even crystals. Just like found money.

Growing up on a rock farm in Saskatchewan, I learned that stones were a perennial crop. They didn’t need fertilizer, they didn’t need to be watered and they grew year after year no matter how many you picked. The only downside was, there was no market for them. In latter years that changed when the trend changed and all the rich city dwellers had rocks in their yards and all the poor farmers still had stones in their fields.

Now that is is down a brush hog will do just fine. His skid steer is not high flow so you are talking a whole new major purchase without much long term need. This will get the job done without any expense but time and fuel. This is really a one time job if he keeps up with it over time and I am pretty sure he will to keep access to his fencing.
