My biggest gripe on peacefull expansion is when you get so many vassals you eventually get a civil war because EVERYONE is powerfull and wants to be on the council. Literally lost a campaign last night because lo and behold a bunch of my longest standing dukes decided to cause rabble when i was 1 de jure war out of forming an empire title.

my best CK game was in CK2, made the european danelaw by using the norse retinue to my advantage..what can a levy army do against like 50k retinue of hardened vikingr? XD Made it to the mediteranean(I butchered that, sorry) and could about see jerusalem from my middle eastern border. For some reason, the middle-east doesnt agree with the retinue in CK2 XD And yes, all of europe was under the european danelaw(I called it that, it ended up being named norse federation of something I dont remember, happened naturaly while I wasnt looking apparently XD)

I accidentally formed a truly cursed Empire with a grand total of two small revenge fueled wars in my MILF-DILF challenge playing as a Norse Buddhist king of Alba with religious tolerance turned on. I wasn't even trying to make an empire, I just thought it would be funny to have my guy and all his kids exclusively marry people who already have kids. (First MILF was obviously Audr the Deep Minded, because she's clearly the best MILF in 867. Second was Haesteinn's widow - I didn't murder him -killing people for their spouse was against the rules I made for myself.) My dude had great Diplomacy and Family focus, since MILFs don't always have the best fertility (Audr still had 6 kids with him though,) and used the befriend scheme to lure widows of monogamous or concubine having faiths to my court, ask them to convert, then give them a county so they'd become nobility and I could marry them without losing legitimacy (Audr was an exception as she was already noble.) I also befriended a bunch of neighboring rulers to vassilize them since your friends are more willing to be vassilized. Then my guy's 11 kids who survived to adulthood got crushes on other kids (except Motherf'er, Stacy, and Vigdis II,) so I made sure those kids converted to my religion if they weren't already polygamous, made sure they got married, then gave them counties so my kids could marry their childhood crushes after said crushes managed to have a child and thus become MILFs/DILFs. Because I take educating random kids people kept leaving in my court for some reason very seriously, most of these kids have good stats. (Seriously though, why is there a random West African girl, the 4 year old son of the king of Sweden, and 3 bastard children of an Irish duke in my court unaccompanied? My guy's not related to them in any way...) Anyway, my daughter's wife conquered Northern Ireland because she's buff, then my guy vassalized about half of Ireland and is working on the rest of it. Still enough to form the kingdom of Ireland though. Then some Welsh chick tried to murder my son Ketill, so I started a war and took a duchy from her as revenge, which prompted her to unalive herself, and her realm splintered, with all her heirs immediately volunteering to vassilize, allowing me to form the kingdom of Wales. While this was happening, one of my stepsons (I have 15 stepkids) somehow acquired a small chunk of Denmark, which kickstarted a domino effect that lead to me vassilizing all of Denmark and forming the Kingdom of Demark, which in turn allowed me to form the truly cursed custom MILF-DILF Empire. As for the second war, that was literally over a single county cause some guy in Orkney Islands had the gall to raid me and abduct my son, my stepson, my other stepson's wife, and the king of Sweden's toddler who is inexplicably in my court for some reason, so obviously the man had to be stopped once and for all after I ransomed everyone back. That's been the extent of my war fighting, my stepkids and in-laws keep conquering stuff for me while I vassilize people with my OP Diplomacy...
