I hope Jett stays on a 250cc for a few more years. He needs to learn to be more consistent and mature a bit. Win a championship or two. The 450cc class will be there waiting for him. No need to rush it.

@@jonjackson6245 nailed it 👏 The key is timing his peak and staying healthy. Adding weight and power will always add more risk in terms of potential for catastrophic injury. So, sure..with his insane talent, he could do it. But it'd still be a bad choice because he's still just a kid with a lot to learn and physiological maturity levels that are working against his cognitive decision making process. That JS7 style go for it mentality that is a weapon for Jett in the 250s right now would potentially put him in some sticky situations on a 450 with a much worse consequence ratio.

Some guys just have that crazy natural ability/ceiling that they don't even have to really work at it, its just seat time until they get to the pros and its like it never goes away, besides maybe some cardio but that insane bike skill remains.

Jeff still has that it was evident at Lorettas this summer the way he passed people going in and coming out of corners. It’s an ability to read and sense traction like no other. You can't just write-off current riders who work just as hard and still want to win as much as a young gun like Jett. For example, Sexton is still pretty young himself, and he wants a championship bad. Same can be said for Cameron Mcadoo. If not for their injuries this year, they both might have been SX champs. What I'm getting at is there are guys with good speed and mental toughness who aren't going to just roll over for Jett. Jett is gonna have a fight on his hands ... it's not gonna be a walk in the park. But that makes for good racing. If these guys can stay healthy, the next few years should be exciting for moto fans.

I agree with Daniel, Jett has insane talent & great feel for the ground on a bike. It will be his mental strength that will determine how far he goes. Sexton has incredible technique & he looks like his timing (shifting, braking etc) has improved a lot in the last year. I think Levi Kitchen is another rider that feels the ground well & creates good flow by weighting & unweighting the bike. Will be good to see him race a few Nationals this year. Besides James won 125 outdoors at 16 and sx 125 at 17. I think Weege said in a podcast about Stewarts retirement, that we would never see such a spectacular phenomenon ever again and so far Jett is not on the same young 125/250 class level James was. I remember when I left a comment on gypsy tales last year about jet being a 5th place rider. Well I take that back and I must say I was wrong and didn't know what I talking about

This was a great take, besides the expected struggle when he moved to the 450. He looks even better now and is putting on a clinic on all the established pros he lines up with. Jett is on a completely different level then we've ever seen in this sport.

Right. He might still struggle in supercross, accidents happen fast there and you need some luck no matter who you are, but motocross was absolutely flawless.

Totally agree. One other point I would add is that if he isn't done growing, which sounds crazy to say about a pro, that might mess up something. We kind of saw the opposite with AC and Forkner. Jett seems to be physically more mature than those guys but that could also be a curveball with how he progresses. I hope not. That kid is what the sport needs.

I feel like all of this should be prefaced with he could possibly be the next superdooper star. Remember we’ve seen a lot, A LOT of flops from their first year in 250s to their 450 career.

😎👍Exactly what I’m thinking. He’s got the speed, he’s got less pressure, and probably pissed that he’s constantly being overshadowed.

To me jetty rides a lot like Kevin Windham.. has great throttle control and knows where to put the bike, We’re also catching him at the beginning stages of his potential.

I think Jett will run the 250 class tell he points out then move on to the 450 ride as a seasoned multi 250 champion. his 450 rookie year will have it's ups and downs but he will definitely be a top ten in points. His second or third year on 450s is when it will really start to heat up and the other guys will know that he is coming for the title.
