Ever since I was little girl I always wanted to learn to skate, but my parents were SOOO overprotective and decided to never buy me a board for the fear of me getting possibly getting injured. And till this day I kinda resent them for that. Now that I have a board of my own (thanks to my loving boyfriend) I get to start! But I'm still kinda shy towards starting and scared of course. But hopefully someday I'll be at least decent on it. My main inspiration is Franky Villani's gf. She's so dope on a board.

i turned 24 and just started! (although I've known how to ride a board since 1st grade). if you do start, just be prepared to fall a lot. I fall like 10 times per 1 hour session. totally worth it though. its a ton of fun!

I'm 26 and just started skating this year! You're never too old. I met a woman yesterday who decided to start and she was 64. You can do it! Try to find women groups in your local community. It's much easier with a friend. If there aren't any groups around you, check out gnarlygirls.com I started an online inclusive community for female skaters, surfer, snowboarders, and skiers. Being a beginner can be tough, but you've got support!

No way you are too old! You’re at a good age to start. I stopped skating 50 years ago and have been an ultra runner. For many years. After an Achilles injury and rehab I started skating again, mainly a longboard but a skateboard as well. I’m 64, it’s taken about a year, but I’m totally having fun and good enough to now consider skate parks. Keep it up, don’t stop and you will enjoy it and meet great people. And wear a helmet.

the first time i skate is when i was 7. when we were out shopping, my brother ask my mom if he could get a skateboard and my mom said yes. But when i ask my mom, she said no. Because she said skateboards are only for boys..so instead she gets me a scooter..and my bro gets the board. After a few months my bro wasn't interested in riding the skateboard...and it was left lying inside the store room. So later that day he ask me and said if he could exchange his skateboard over my scooter. And i was happy and said YES. And till that day i started to self-taught my self on how to skate by watching videos. And right now I am 17 and still skating. Who else skate because of their brothers skateboard XD

i was with my mom, aunt, and cousin at target and we were looking at the bikes and crap. I saw a skate board and asked my mom if i can get the skateboard. my mom said no because im a girl. My cousin asked for the board i wanted and his mom got it for him. I was pissed! I asked my mom why couldn't i get it but all she said was "skating is for boys, not girls. and your too old! It's pretty scary at first, especially since I decided to first learn by going down a hill (which I highly do not recommend) but you start to get comfortable pretty quickly. Get a board, find a flat and just ride around. The biggest part of skating is getting comfortable on your board my dude. If you know anyone who skates let them show you and learn from them, if not, learn from KZbin - it's always good to learn with someone else though, you'll learn much faster that way and you'll be less likely to give up. Keep practising and remember; each fall is an opportunity to stand up and get right back on ;) HAVE FUN!

kimthaelf Maan good to hear!! It might take a while to get comfortable as it depends on how often you skate. For me it took a few months but I'm still constantly learning new things whenever I'm on a board, that's why it's so great. Just skate whenever you can/ all the fuckin time and shit will come to you really quickly. You might not get it straight away but be sure to stick with it, skating can be for everybody. Have fun tomorrow :)
