That's the thing with Bob, as others have said. He is an artist, not a businessman. I initially cringed during this episode, thinking, "Oh joy, Bob is back to letting Jimmy push his buttons." It was really bad when his wife and 2 best friends/regular customers TRIED to get through to Bob, yet he ignored them due to his stubborn pride. Heck, I wanted to punch that reporter guy for giving Bob the brush off at first....but then realized he's right. He was just doing his job when "some rando" came over and started screaming at him for no reason. That's why this scene strikes so hard, as it shows Bob finally realizing that there's no POINT to his rivalry with Jimmy. Jimmy does have a more successful restaurant, but Bob has better food (plus it's clear the Belcher kids love their dad so much, whereas the Pesto kids rarely interact with Jimmy on screen, and when they do it's usually not positive). So yeah, Bob can focus on his creativity and keep succeeding, while Jimmy will just try to scrape the bottom of the barrel for any good ideas. I really hope that this episode is the end of Jimmy and Bob's rivalry. Next time Bob is just minding his own business and Jimmy starts mocking him, Bob can just give him a wave and then go back to ignoring him.

@@changvasejarik62Exactly this, funnily enough I think Jimmy's snide add on of having a "mostly restored 280Z" shows this well. The 280Z is an icon in Nissan's history, the whole Z lineup is really, yet at the end of the day it's a completely material thing that won't bring Jimmy joy in the same way Bob finds happiness being himself, with his family doing what he loves. Making such a comment shows perfectly Jimmy's character and that his current happiness is only based on material things and his succession (which isn't even his own either since he stole Bob's idea) whereas Bob's is built upon being with his family doing what he loves, even if it's not as successful or profitable as Jimmy's place. It's actually a nice detail I appreciate since it shows how Bob is easily the bigger person in this scenario, because he doesn't need those things to be happy whereas Jimmy clearly does, elseway he has no reason to mention it and (try to) rub it in Bob's face.

0:30 - something about the look on Bob’s face just makes it that much impactful in a way. It’s like a mix between disappointment/ realization/contempt: - Disappointment in himself for letting jimmy get the best of him all the time. - Realization because he finally sees that his rivalry with jimmy achieves nothing - Contempt at jimmy for stealing his idea and accepting that he’s not worth it anymore. (0:40) And Bob’s line: “I’d rather be me than you…” is just so cold yet cathartic. It’s him accepting the fact that he is happy with who he is and what he has. In a way, he “found himself”. It’s like teddy told him: “You should focus on your own happiness and not compare it to other people.” Bob may not run a successful restaurant, but he has things that jimmy could never have: - a wife that loves him and kids who (although crack jokes about him at his expense) genuinely love their father. - True, loyal friends who are there for him when he needs them. - The mind of a artist in cooking and is always making unique/quirky dishes. He’s not a businessman, he’s an artist in cooking. That’s why he enjoys making burgers of the day, NOT making money. Sure making a good profit is important, but to Bob, making food with the love and effort he has makes it all the more valuable. And the fact that Trev, who has been nothing but a “yes man” throughout most of the show’s run, actually acknowledging who the better man was in this conversation, just makes it feel more impactful for me….

I would like the future episodes from then on, their rivalry slowly becomes one sided. In one episode, it's the normal rivalry. But as they go on, it slowly fades out, until it's just Jimmy antagonizing him, or at least trying to, while Bob either gives simple well meaning comments, a chuckle, or even just a wave. There will be the occasional slip up of them going into a feud, but it would always annoy/tire out Bob and it could just end with him back in the restaurant or his home, either relaxing in the dining room, sleeping on the couch or bed, or tiredly leaning against his wife as the episode ends. I also would like the show to show more about Jimmy Pesto's parenting, since it's very clear he isn't a very good dad most of the time. Maybe even have an episode comparing Bob as a Dad vs Jimmy as a Dad (If they haven't done so already) It would also be funny if they make an episode where Jimmy pulls this shit again, but instead of Bob getting fussy about it or getting upset, he acts like it didn't happen/acts like he doesn't know about it. So, Teddy brings it up instead, and Bob just shrugs and mumbles "It's happened before, so what?" while a Journalist just so happened to be in the diner. He writes it down and thinks nothing of it afterwards. Though later on, a new journalist (who I'll just call Simon from here on), finds the note and asks the Journalist about it. Simon, who can be described as a curious bastard, decides to ask Bob about it himself (while also trying and loving his food). Bob spills the beans casually about it, about how Jimmy has stolen some of his ideas before, and how he normally reacted. But the reason he was letting it past was because he was tired of no one believing his story, so what was the point? Simon records all of this secretly with a voice recorder, pays for his food, and leaves. Simon then posts the voice recording online with an article about the food at Bob's Burger. This damages Jimmy Pesto's reviews, but then more restaurant owners come out and admit that he's stolen ideas from many places, even a food truck, just for his own benefit. Jimmy Jr. and the Twins are just returning home from their mother's place as the chaos is starting to calm somewhat. In the end, Jimmy Pesto's Pizzeria has to go through a big rebrand (which isn't cheap, I think). And I want that rebrand to stick, if possible. That's all I have to say!

For those who are wondering why Jimmy Pesto sounds off, that’s becuase he is now voiced by Eric Bauza. His original actor, Jay Johnston was banned from working in the shows production due to capital riot charges and allegations during January 6th.

Jimmy Pesto would be the type of guy to go to Jan 6, they really had the perfect guy before

That’s the thing isn’t it? Bob does not make as much money as Jimmy. Not even close. But Jimmy’s money doesn’t make it for the fact that he’s bitterly divorced, his only friend is Trev whom he doesn’t even respect and has a lousy relationship with all of his sons. Bob has his loving and supportive wife, a special relationship with each of his children and a large group of friends who absolutely adore him.

Idk hasn’t he not spoken to Jimmy for a few seasons? Also Jimmy’s original VA was fired for storming the capitol so I wouldn’t be surprised if they leave him alone for a few years

@@RockOnTheKitchenTable This episode actually marked the first appearance of Jimmy's new VA. He's been missing specifically because his old VA was fired, but whoever they got to replace him is certainly nailing the impression. I'd like to think this is a way of the writers trying to push Bob and Jimmy's rivalry to the side after 14 seasons, but with how prominent his children are in the series, I doubt it'll be left at this.

the fact that they essentially needed to write the Pestos out of the show thanks to ~real life events~ ends up being oddly fitting with how pathetic Jimmy was when he was around. Google tells me the character came back after a while, but still funny.

This is basically Bobs Burgers to Family Guy. For one thing, Bobs Burgers doesn’t really care about Family Guy yet still has success while not only does Family Guy flaunt what little success they have, they mock Bob’s Burgers for all it’s worth.

Bob is such a gread written character. He is a good father and yes his Restaurant isn't popular but that is just because he doesn't really do marketing. He doesn't know how. But it is his passion ❤

You know what I heard about Jimmy Pesto? He doesn't even make his own pizzas. They're just frozen pizzas which is why customers usually don't have a choice in toppings. Of course this meatball cheese pizza thing is the exception but like Bob said, it was one of his worst. It actually makes sense that Jimmy would want to cash in on it. Because it's easy!

Jimmy Pesto Sr’s original voice actor, Jay Johnston, participated in the January 6th Capitol attack in Washington. A very Jimmy Pesto thing to do.

Bob needs a business person in his store, his food is amazing and good value but he lacks the business side. He just needs a spokes person or heck even sales professional and i bet he wouldve thrived
