I have a theory. Robin is Ted's one true love, right? She is "the one". Of course he loved Tracy but that's just because he thought Robin wasn't an option anymore. And then there's Tracy. Max is her one true love. Well, he was. But he died. They both had to move on, and find someone else. But let's be honest, they already did find the "perfect" one. Although i think Tracy is SOOOO much better for Ted and they were a perfect fit (better than Robin) Apparently Ted doesn't want perfect, he wants Robin. And I think in the end they all ended up with their true love. Robin&Ted, and Max&Tracy (i don't know if you believe in heaven tho. I don't, but I'm pretty sure that can be the message) It really hurts me to describe Tracy as a "Rebound" but to be honest, if Robin realized that she loved Ted earlier. Her and Ted would've gotten married and Ted wouldn't even have met Tracy. Anyway, that's my opinion of course. But the finale hurt me SO bad I like to think that way, you know, just to make myself feel better.

The first time I watched the finale I was devastated that Robin and Barney broke up. But I watched the whole series again and an interview that NPH did after the finale and I realised that Barney wanted a child, someone to love whole heartedly and to give her everything he has and everything he is' and that wasn't something Robin wanted. Ted loved Robin with all his heart, he always did and when you love someone you never stop, you never give up. Even when someone rolls their eyes or calls you crazy you don't give up, especially then. Robin didn't think she loved Ted until she saw him with Tracy and as perfect as Tracy was for Ted, he ended up with Robin because he loved her. Ted got the best of both worlds, he got to spend many years with his beautiful wife who he did love and raise two beautiful children with her. And when she left to be with her first love Max, he got with Robin, his first love. Who loves his children (who are now grown up!) It was perfect..

they have so much chemistry. i'm melting just watching them look at each other. i always thought they'd end up together. i loved the ending. i just wish season nine didn't just focus on one weekend. they could have developed the moments leading up to the ending better. anyways i understand they wanted to keep the "twist" a secret for as long as they can, but in doing so, ted and robin fans switched to barney and robin. i enjoy watching the little hints they left throughout the series on how this was going to end. like 8x23 "something old" (a sign from the universe).

I am a PROUD Ted & Robin fan and was SO delighted when they ended up together. In every way possible they were the perfect couple; they had some wonderful chemistry and that fantastic emotional connection which is the hallmark of a PERFECT relationship. It was so devastating watching them break up but I always believed that there was something between them, they just fit and they always made each other happy. A large number of Swarkles fans are, with all due respect, being extremely bitter in their contempt for Ted and Robin and their hatred of the finale. I never truly believed that Barney and Robin were good as a couple because I never got an emotional vibe or connection from them, and as the series went towards the finale it was apparent that they wouldn't be happy together. In addition, Barney was quite rude and arrogant in many respects, particularly with his snarky statements: "And you know this because you know Robin better than I do? You know what she appreciates better than her own fiancee? Robin's marrying me, not you." You scumbag, OF COURSE he knows Robin better than you do, that's why you took a class from him on how to be a better boyfriend for her!! And even then you couldn't keep her happy either in your first relationship OR your marriage!! ANYONE who thinks that Ted and Robin don't fit needs to watch the entire season 2 again. It will show clearly that they were simply wonderful together. And let's not forget the episode where he made it rain! I loved the ending and the way the story was completed; it was definitely brought full circle. Having said that, the series finale did have some flaws which I don't overlook. And I shall end my comment with a quote from a very wise person who said this on KZbin: "To not ship Ted and Robin is to have no soul. To ship Barney and Robin is to have no sense." MOBATSKY ALL THE WAY!!

+Kendra John Nice to see you again. And Ted never really chased after Robin. He did tell her that he loved her after her break-up with Kevin, and also did say to Lily that "...[Robin] should be with [him]," but never really made any attempt to sabotage her engagement with Barney. His help in finding her locket was the action of a friend who cared for her and wanted her to be happy, and you know that he had to struggle with his emotions given that he was torn between his love for Robin and the fact that she was marrying one of his best friends. That explains his decision to move to Chicago only for him to meet Tracy after the wedding and abandon his plans. And I had already explained in our earlier discussion that Robin most certainly DID love Ted back, but had trouble expressing it most of the time and in that episode she had gone through a huge emotional upheaval having been told that she couldn't conceive and having lost her engagement with Kevin. The fact is that they truly did love each other and their reunion was wonderful. And if you see Barney and Robin having any kind of emotional connection then that's your point of view, but I simply didn't see anything of the sort and their first break-up and their divorce were down to the fact that they simply didn't emotionally mesh or make each other happy. +Kendra John Like I said, Robin was the main love of his life and he had to deal with the fact that she was marrying Barney. The story focused on Ted and Robin's relationship and she was the only girl who truly made him happy and contented, as he was for her. She just couldn't realise it. And if you think he was being selfish, what do you think of Barney's attitude towards them in season 2 when he didn't want them to move in together? He also broke the Bro Code by sleeping with Robin behind Ted's back and never started having feelings for her until after that accident he suffered at the end of season 3. Ted and Tracy had a great relationship which lasted for 11 years and produced two great kids, but they were not the primary loves of each other's lives and they were just too similar that they didn't really complement each other. They were almost each other's clone. It was probably what Ted needed and wanted at the time and he was truly grateful for it. And Tracy also was grateful to have found Ted after Max's death, so they had no problems building a life together especially given their similarities. But love isn't just liking the same things and having the same personalities, it's about complementing one another and bringing out the best in one another. From what I saw of Ted/Robin and Ted/Tracy, I have to say that Ted/Robin were better, especially since Ted/Tracy didn't have anywhere near enough screen time together. You're welcome! If we observe Ted's all the past relationship, 80% of them were gold and most of girls were really in love with Ted, but Ted always turned them down because he always believed that Robin will change her mind However when she got married to Barney he thought it time to move on. after that what Ted did? He just married the next girl he meets after wedding and he was so calm that Robin's chase has ended. I think what Lily said was correct Barney and Robin should never got married in first place. I think she said that because it forced fans to choose between main characters and also the build up around Mom was like fairy tale, but fans fail to realize that Ted was trying to convince his children so he sugarcoated most of it.

I wouldn’t go so far to say that his other relationships were gold, if anything there were several red flags in all of them combined. The only relationship I did like was his one with Victoria in season 1 where they looked very happy, but forcing a long-distance relationship after only a few episodes was a sign that it wasn’t meant to go the distance. And then the writers did her dirty by making her a slob who wanted Ted to end his friendship with Robin despite the fact that she was in a relationship. Stella wanted him to leave New York and then left him at the altar, Karen was a cheater, Zoey didn’t want to see him succeed and the less said about Jeanette the better. I think Ted said it best: “You want to talk about my Top 5? There’s no Top 5, Robin! There’s just a top 1 and it’s you!”

Ted and Robin were never meant to be. He was highly obsessed with the idea of love and a ideal wife and kids which he projected on Robin. He is a typical 'nice guy'.🤣 Tracy was the only one for him. However, Barney was evil but he loved robin for who she was. He liked her independence and strong nature which ted disliked. He said "I'm not marrying some future possibility of starting a family, i'm marrying a girl who means more than kids." This single is enough to destroy whatever bullshit relationship ted and robin had. Robin belong to barney as she loved him for who he was despite his flaws. I find it amusing that few Ted and Robin shippers says it was always about them when in reality only 2 seasons were focused on them where s1 was ted's obsession and s2 was the relationship and broke up in s2 finale. On the other hand Barney and Robin had 7 seasons started with hooking up in s3 and 2 seasons specifically dedicated to their engagement and marriage. 7>2!💪

Genuinely curious as to why anyone would ship this couple. The way he falls for her in the beginning is so false and no different from any of the other women he decides are' the one'. If you think of Robin and Barney they just work, they have the same sense of humour, they are both super competitive, they like crazy clubs and games and sports, they gamble, they flirt, they gossip, they hate the sentimental,they are vain and ambitious and reject totally conventional roles and traditional ideas of marriage and relationships. They have also both been very vulnerable in youth and profoundly hurt, they have unhappy home lives and they both learn together how to be in a relationship and put someone else first. From Zip, Zip Zip it was obvious something would happen and from season 6 it was obvious how significant they were to each other. Ted loves Robin but he says that before he even knows her, he says it to everyone because he is obsessed with love. Barney fights it every step of the way but can't help but love her and she accepts his proposal without a moments pause because all her fears are insignificant in light of what she feels. That is how love works. The finale was forced and silly. It betrayed Ted, Robin and Barney's characters and made them shells of season 1. Ted and Robin are a far better couple than Robin and Barney. As the show points out, love isn't about having everything in common with another person, it's inexplicable. ("Love doesn't make sense" and "I don't want perfect, I want Robin") Just because Barney and Robin have a lot in common doesn't mean they're a better couple. (For the record, Ted and Robin have arguably more similar senses of humor than Barney and Robin i.e. Major Buzzkill) Ted and Robin brought out the best in each other, Ted is a hopeless romantic who is grounded by Robin, and Robin is a realist and was initially wary about getting in a close relationship (she wanted to travel the world, didn't want kids, and was very focused on her career) who is reminded by Ted how great a loving relationship can be. They compliment each other so well, it's clear from the first episode that despite all the problems they encounter and differences they have, there is something drawing them together that neither of them can explain (i.e. Robin kissing Ted even though she knows they want different things, Ted refusing to give up, Robin telling Ted to break off his wedding with Stella because there is still something between them, etc.). No matter what happened, they continued to be drawn to each other. How can you say there is no chemistry? The finale not only reinforced their characters but it reminded us of the central theme of the show, that love doesn't go away (this is at the heart of Ted's speech about love to Jeanette on the bridge). No matter how much time passed, no matter how much changed, they always had a connection, and that didn't go away. To me the best thing about the show is that the writers never forgot about the one romance in the show that mattered the most, the one that was the most important from the pilot to the finale, Ted and Robin. It would have been an insult and a betrayal to the viewers to build up a romance from episode 1 and then never have it pay off in some way. There was always lingering emotions between them and it took until 2030 for them to finally be sorted out. Building up Barney and Robin only to destroy them in the last episode was somewhat puzzling, but when you think about their characters and how they were both always so resistant to commitment, it makes sense. Barney and Robin together are just too immature, there's no depth. Not that they didn't love each other, they did, but when it comes down to it, what they had didn't come close to what Ted and Robin had. Ted loved her for 8 years and every time he reevaluated his life it always came back to her. She felt it too but she couldn't face it until she had lived her life and had matured enough to handle it. The ending was near perfect, wrapping up a show that lasted 9 seasons with the one thing that was always at the center of it all.

+AndHoldTheMayo Said it brilliantly!! The more I think of how obnoxious Barney was while he dated Robin, the more I feel delighted that he and Robin got divorced! And I think the baby from No. 31 saw him truly develop as a person! As for Ted and Robin, they were quite simply the perfect couple and their reunion was sweet, enough said!
