This summer will have about no poker, but it will have a lot of dealing poker. I'm dealing the summer poker series at The Orleans on W Tropicana in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 2024 Orleans Summer Open is the official name. Here are my tales.

I was a dealerr for 12 years Orleans great place to get feet wet but the real money and easy life is cash games not tournaments at many other placrs!

I can see that dealing almost all HE. It would have been great if I separated my cash downs and tips by NLHE/LHE/O8 but I didn't think of it.

I can see your thought process between cash and tourney because...Orleans is likely the more challenging property to deal cash at. Lot's of different games, some challenging players. I'm a bit more fortunate in that I deal in a pretty much hold-em room, with an occasional 5-card double bomb pot or a Big O, but deal with a promo and rake and the rest of it that comes with cash. But I do like bringing cash home in my pocket. I can't argue with that, tourney is easier... and on paper, likely more money long term...but after tax and deductions, it's still a different story. At least with my book keeping.

No. Breaking even is an amazing scenario. It's often a losing proposition to get people in the building. Like the pool or buffet.

Resorts World probably takes more multi-game skill. They frequently spread mixed games with exotic variants. Dealing very high stakes beyond what you'll find at Orleans is a different skill, too. It sounds easy but you have to be able to run it multiple times, keep track of pots that start in the hundreds but go to the 10k's, interact well with the players, etc. Lots and lots of PLO in the high stakes world. What makes dealing Orleans the most difficult is (for many) is the clientele.

i always thought cash dealers made more money because of tips. didnt know dealer got paid "downs"...

Making more in either is possible. At Orleans, for me, this year, mtt's are more. -- My theory is most people don't keep track and think cash is more because they get to take cash home when the day is over and it seems like more than waiting for a paycheck.
