This video entails the events I have over the course of two weeks worth of side dressing 1,200 acres of corn with our Hagie STS10.
The video starts off by putting some beans in a dry place so that we could take them back to our seed dealer. Then we took off the sprayer boom, put the nitrogen bar on, and then went off to side dressing corn with 32% nitrogen. As soon as I started side dressing the first field, my engine temperature light came on. The screen covering the radiator became packed full of dirt so once I cleaned that off, I was on my way. Unfortunately, I ran out of video storage so I had to jump to the next day.
I start the day by getting the sprayer all greased up. On this morning I also explain how the nitrogen tool bar works. I did not get to spray very long because a random rain shower came through and chased us out of the field for the day and ultimately the day after that as well.
A few side dressing days later, I came across several fields that had wet spots in them. We spots are not a good thing because it causes the crop to become drown out and not produce a good crop. Some wet spots do not produce anything. At the end of the day I checked out some beans that were recently planted and talked a little bit about their health and why they were the way they were.
After what felt like forever, we switched the corn on corn tips over to corn on bean tips. Then we went off to side dressing the old bean ground. This video contains video proof that Daddy Cornstar has in fact washed something before.
Once I got started on bean ground, we got rain 3 hours sooner than we expected so we were chased out of the field once again. Several days later it was dry enough to be able to get back out into the fields. Daddy Cornstar films a few clips of me driving through the field and Brandon from Champion Seed came out to film the sprayer with his drone. Unfortunately, the drone files corrupted so I was unable to put them into this video.
Thank you for watching guys!

Patrick Morgan I grew up in suburban Chicago and went to college in Dekalb. No one ever talked about this stuff. Now I’m in Vegas teaching and I go to the Monterrey Bay Area 4-5 times a year. I’ve learned so much about farming up there. It’s so important for us city-folk to know these things. My students and I talk about it any time I can fit it in.

I grew up on a 300 acre farm w/ my 11 brothers and sisters and when I hit 11, 6 stepchildren were added. My Mom had us run food and drinks out to those working the fields. Mom and my older sisters made cinn. rolls, elephant tracks in large batches (as u can imagine) every morning. Baked bread and buns every day. Quick breakfast/ Guys would take care of milking , chicken and hogs. Back in house around 10 for huge hot breakfast and then out in the fields. Kids would run them sandwiches and lemonade /koolaide. Around 8 they would head in for another hot meal and then back to the fields till something stopped them. With all us kids there were plenty helpers for every chore. We had a huge garden and grew our own meat /dairy needs. We had the BEST Food. It was the best life!

How can I tell I have been watching too much "Cole the Cornstar"? A minute ago I went back outside and coiled up and put away the extension cord I had been using earlier. - True story. Seriously I cannot tell you how much I enjoy this channel, and the chance to watch the entire Cornstar family in their day to day work. Growing up I was a "townie" and then later on in life moved to a big city, where I lived for several decades, so this whole farming thing is a subject I know nothing about. I am amazed at how much you all have to know. I see that that you are passable mechanics, both gas and diesel. You can do electrical work, both low voltage and 220 V 3 Phase, you operate high tech devices every day (GPS controlled tractors? I had no idea!) and it just goes on and on. To say that I am impressed is an understatement. Thank you for the on-going education on farm life. This viewer REALLY appreciates it.

It could be stripped, while still retaining the patina and the stain put on by great grandma. It would look the same only fresher & cleaner. Some of the stuff (cabinets, etc.) would look great with cream-colored chalk paint and a satin poly on top for easy cleaning. Some of the rooms would look so much brighter if the woodwork were painted, but one is loathe to paint over the beautiful wood. It should be mentioned, however, that when great-grandma did it, the wood probably looked much, much lighter since wood finishes tend to darken over the years, sometimes quite a lot.

I watched this production once previously, even better the second time. Ignore the comment somebody else left about "Daddy Corn stare" possibly needing an "intervention". The Pringles looks real goodish, if I was closer He and I could have a lunch sometime and then we would both look real smart. You folks are producing motivational video's for the rest of us ordinary people. There was a time when I wanted to be a big farmer, I knew how much work it was...is. (enough soft mushy stuff). Keep up the good work.... nose to the grind stone.

Cole, good video, those wet spots are obstructing your yield. What can a farmer do? Can you drain them? Sounds like an expensive project to divert the water. Cole You need to get some field tile in the wet spots and do some water management in the water run ways. You are losing to much top soil

Cornstar: When you were planting last spring you mentioned that you had corn over corn seed and corn over beans seed. What's the difference other than corn planted a second year in the same field and corn planted in a field that had beans the prior year. Cheers....

WoolyBuck each feeds the soil in a different way . So when you switch, each field gets a balance of nutrients that increases yield. As a master gardener I do this in my vegetable garden. Never planting the same crops in the same area the following year.
