There are zinc (Akin to 1943 Wheat cents) Reichspfennings, they're not silver, but the Germans made probably a billion plus of them during the Third Reich period

They managed to bring back .900 silver to coins (at least the 5 RM).. in Weimar they went down to .500 silver.. I used to have a bag of them, but sold them all, now i have maybe around ten left, including the Martin Luther and Schiller 2RM :) in Germany there is still a big market for them, selling instantly, but no more than 10-20% premium

If you look at the size of the Weimar 50% 5 mark coins relative to the 3R 90% 5 mark coins, you will notice that the Weimar ones are crown sized and the 3R ones are half-dollar sized, they didn't as much bring back the metal content, but rather made smaller and finer coins cutting out the size added only by debasing the metal. The 2 rm is less straightforward, likely containing about 1/5 of the content of the 5. So in short, just making the coins more dense in content and smaller in size.

Is there any way to get in contact with you about a coin I have? It's a dime from the 80's, but the edges are rolled on the coin and it's smaller than normal so you can't read the last letter. I think it's an error coin. It's in alright condition, I just want to see what it is and what it might be worth. Thank you

The 2 coins I enjoy the most are the ancient coins and the nazi coins. With ancient coins, it’s all about old history. With nazi coins, it’s all about taboo modern history. I’m just fascinated by it all.

I am interested in the nazi coins. I do not agree with what they did. I am doing a set of coins from the axis powers of WWII, since the period of time is so very short (roughly 1936/9 to 1946). I have the Japan and Vichy France as well, as well as a couple from occupied Denmark. I haven't begun work on Italy yet. Like those who collect coins/tokens from the civil war, it's purely as a collector's point of view for me.
