The S2's are going to be the more problematic as time goes on, as they don't have anywhere near the level of aftermarket support that my S1 does, and you can't stick an adapter on your OMP on the S2, so 2 stroke injection isn't possible in the stock setup, and switching back to an s1 setup is a wiring clusterfuck. Sure, everything S1 may swap over, but you need the brains to tell those bits what to do. A well built S1 with supporting mods, will outlast a rebuilt S2. That said, the ultimate swap is an 13B-REW or 20B-REW. As far as N/A rotaries go, though, The RX-8 puts out the most power. The last N/A Rotor was the FC RX-7, with all of its 160hp.

Mazda knew exactly what they were doing when they made the RX-8. The RX-8's body and whole setup is immaculate. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the RX-8 was the BRZ before the BRZ was cool. The RX-8 does it better IMO. Some people just don't like how it looks, or that it comes with a rotary engine. Thankfully, that has kept costs down.. I'm just waiting to finally buy a rust-free white one aha

Exactly this. The platform for the RX8 and NC is amazing. I'm rebuilding a renesis for my buddy right now and I track a NC. The cars are just so much fun to drive and so confidence inspiring. The problem is that Mazda put exactly the right amount of power in the cars... which was 50-100 hp less than the competition... and it kinda sucks getting smoked by a minivan on a freeway onramp.

It really and truly is time for the RX-8 to get some BIG TIME LOVE!! You broke it, you build it back! Long time coming, and our boy deserves the love more than words can explain. Can we get a timeline for those plans to unfold by tough? I know that supply chains are screwed up and over on most things right now, so it's understandable that it will take a little bit of time for parts to arrive. But what other events, tests, etc. are going to be in the way of the build/rebuild? Is 2 months doable for the engine stuff at least? I'm sure there will be tons of other mods along the way, but the engine build is the house foundation that should always be the first part of any build project IMHO. Sorry Rob, but I'm much more interested in seeing the RX-8 build becoming insane than I was for the 4 rotor RX-7 just because it is so far away from what most people will do with them. RX-7s have been swapped and built to death IMHO, so the RX-8 sounds VERY interesting to me. 4 rotor RX-8 and a built trans?!?!

@malijames122 жыл бұрын
3 things I can think of as to why the renesis makes more power: six intake ports instead of four, increased size of those ports makes it practically streetported from the factory, and higher compression ratio. Aside from that, you've got better tuning through electronic fuel injection, computer controlled ignition, and variable intake valves (i.e. the SSV)
