The interaction of Reprogram and Orange Pellets never dawned on me. I used to play Reprogram like "i am a reprogram deck now, who needs focus". I would go whole ham on cards that scale with strength and dex.

Yeah, it's rarer for defect to want a well-rounded deck than the other characters I feel. You need to absolutely ball out in one aspect of their game in order to win, can't be a jack of all trades.

Idk why but I'm having a really hard time with going minimalist/infinite in this game, I know it's really, really hard in A20 but I wish with "remove two" start you'd show a minimalist infinite run someday. Watching you taught me a lot about this game and perhaps seeing you make a minimalist infinite deck would make things click in my mind

maybe check out watcher. You only need rushdown, cost one calm card (inner peace, fear no evil) and cost one wrath card (tantrum, upgraded eruption) to infinite.

Cold snap upgrade first seems bad, only 3 damage when dual cast or zap could save one mana which is effectively an entire extra card you can play

My understanding is that sometimes you don't need the extra energy, especially in an early deck (like with a hand full of defends when they're not attacking), but 3 damage is always 3 damage.

I’m not really getting the argument against bullseye seems like a fine debuff to put on enemies for lightning/darkness decks. It’s weird that it’s the only card that does so but thats why I take it

Think about it this way. Lockon doesn’t make your deck any better at doing what it does the vast majority of the time. You already need consistent orb generation for it to have any tangible effect that you don’t already get from any other attack card. Compile driver likewise shares a similar issue, but outside of evoking your only orb (generally not a good idea right off the rip), a card draw neutral effect of one orb is still vastly better than 2 extra lightning orb damage. But it also gets worse for lockon, because it only effects half of the orbs, and really only effects 1 consistently. By the time you CAN take advantage of evoking a dark orb, it’s frequently overkill. And any arguments of “yes but if you set it up with these cards it’s really strong”. Yes that’s true, but so are most combos. When lockon is good, it’s quite good. But like, if you have 4+ focus and 5 lighting orbs, did you really need that lockon really? Or was it a win more card?

@@SquashDog01 “lock-on only effects half the orbs’ is like saying vulnerable is bad because it only effects 1/3rd of cards (attacks). Bullseye to many decks is the same as bash for half the cost. Focus can be scarce and lock-on can help bridge the gap in act 1-2 There are only 5 ways to increase focus on defect. One is a potion and one is a relic. Meaning there are almost as many cards that take focus away from you than give it to you. Makes duelcast with 0 focus go from 16-24 against knob and lag. Lock-on is far from a centerpiece but for 1 cost I think it’s a worthy addition in act 1
