As an Aussie, we grow our pineapples by just literally chucking the pineapple tops outside in the pineapple garden where they can then sort themselves out. Works real well

I have what I believe to be two pink pineapple seedlings. I grown lots of pineapples from tops but the only ones I have done from seeds are pink. I knew they won’t grow a pink pineapple but just wanted to see what I’d get. They were planted on my deck in south west Florida. I threw them direct into potting soil and totally forgot about them until I found about 1/2 year later 😂 they are about 2” tall and wide at this point. Good luck to all trying to grow them!!

This channel is so underrated! My mom is a gardener and every single year she grows and germinates succulents and I keep telling her to grow something edible before I eat all of her plant and get sick and DIE and she said no… therefore, I planted my own fruit trees. I’m currently trying to grow lemons and apples but I might try pineapples now because of this video! Thanks! Edit: My tree seeds aren’t growing 😭 *but* I keep forgetting to water it soooooo I’ll try to stay on track with them

Fun fact: you can't grow the same variety of apples from a seed ever. For example, if i planted a seed from a Fuji apple, the tree that grew would not grow fuji apples. All fuji apple trees, and by extension all apple trees of the same variety, are propagated to grow the same fruit. So unless you have a cutting from a Rockit apple tree, you won't be able to grow a tree that gives Rockit apples.

@@growithjessie Not necessarily. I grew it as a house plant (here in Austria it's not that hot that I could trust it to survive outside at night). I just put it next to a bright kitchen window and plantet it into a pot, when I began to struggle with stuffing all the roots into it's container after changing the water (a container out of a light proof material is great to prevent algae from growing and still being able to lightly fertilize it)

My buddy in key west was like the pineapple whisperer. Every time he bought a pineapple to eat he would plant the crown. If you walked past his house you would think he was a farmer he had so many pineapples in the yard. He must have had over 100 potted pineapples sitting everywhere in every stage of growth. Why pots? Theres practically no soil in key west and it regularly floods due to the low elevation and proximity to the ocean so all the dirt is salty. Im convinced the most important thing to grow a pineapple is lots of sun.
@OhPervyOne
@OhPervyOne Жыл бұрын
You might suggest to your buddy in key west that he should consider filling the space with raised garden beds. That way he gets to use all of that space (no gaps, like between pots), and not subject to flooding (unless it's bad). Some places I've seen *tall* raised beds, made with adobo clay. These were in Monsoon country. (I don't remember what part of the world, just that it was because of monsoon flooding.) Anywho, the beds were more than waist high on the gardeners. At the base, they added a step along the entire length of it. Point is, your buddy could build tall and have loads more growing area. MIght be worth trying.

So what kind of pineapple would you get if you plant the top off the pink pineapple. Since thats cloning, you should get a pink pineapple, not a yellow one. Unless the company is doing something underhanded like injecting color in the fruit.

When you pulling off the tops for the propagation method, I learned from a video of a man in Africa that you need to peel the leaves off up to an inch from the bottom of the stock. And you need to make sure you get all the pineapple flash and leaf off. You’ll know you got it off when the middle section looks like long thin stringy straight roots. I’m not sure if they are but that’s what you’re looking for. The water has to be clean. The water has to come up to where the green is. It does not touch the green or you’ll get the mold because that’s what happened when I did it to a few the very first time. The water must be changed every time it’s cloudy for the first little while the pope remaining on the stock will each remaining pineapple juice into the water and that sugar will attract yeast and fungus. That’s what causes the greeny. So you have to change the water until the roots begin to grow about an inch then it’s safe to just leave it in water. You may even be able to do light light nutrients at that point but it is not required. Because I tested both ways. 6:15

I had a whole big terrarium/fish tank just for my baby monarchs 🥰 I used to do it every summer from age 3-4 all the way until I moved across the country when I was 24 😊 i live in a big city now (San Francisco) so now I just get the mail order caterpillars for my 6 year old daughter! I’d love to get monarchs for her but we have no milk weed 😢 Also, I love your accent so much!

I do want to note that no: when she said fruits only have seeds, that is not the case. Vegetable is just a culinary term and not a scientific one. The fruit itself is the plants way of protecting the seed, and it tasting good is a way that it ensures its seeds are distributed. Vegetables like carrots and cabbages do flower, and that’s where the seeds come from. Some plants bear fruit, while others just happen to have edible roots with stems that flower and don’t produce fruit.

Both have new growth in the centre ( fingers crossed they continue ) I did watch another guy took the top and cut it into quarters. Then plant those. I have those in dirt as well. Most the leaves have died but the one closer to the centre and all have taken root. I guess time will tell on those ones But I had no idea there was seeds so I guess I’ll be heading to the store for more pineapples Lol😊

wow maybe its the environment or ph because if you can grow yellow pineapples from the pink pineapple variety you can grow it back to pink because how did it get like that in the first place its kinda like some fruits and vegetables they got less or other bits of colors on them weed plant(from what i heard) or apples for example

the dark or where they black apples grown in a sertain kind of light made them very dark but not a great flavor tho the weed plants grown in sertaint lights make them sertain colors and stuff
