Growing up on St. Pete Beach in FL, as a young kid, (live in MO after getting out of the Army) I caught a variety of fish...but never caught a snook. Congrats on the snook esp in Alabama. The biggest fish I caught was a 262 lb Marlin at the age of 17, which did mount and hung my wall.

That is very different to what we call a snoek in Southern Africa where the name snoek originates. The South African snoek is also called a barracouta. Does your snoek have another common name?

Snook have been caught ocaisonaly in Jacksonville Florida for a long time, no reason they couldn't be in Bama when winters have been mild. The area you're fishing looks very much like some of the NE Fl. creeks.
