Yo Ryan thank you for this bro, not the fact your talking about the camera but I just was telling someone how creators need to go back to the 2016-2018 style of filmmaking far as reviews and gear go, the KZbin space is in a weird place with tons of negative side effects, and you actually going out and being creative showing us what's possible with a budget camera means more then a spec sheet and some KZbinrs clout and biased opinions, please do more style videos like these bro, everyone needs to see that they can create with less even if its not the higher market product, creativity will always win!

I bought it a month ago and noticed the next day that when shooting 4K 60FPS there was a STUCK PIXEL and I was horrified and refunded my money and got it back. The store is telling me to get another one, this is a manufacturing defect, but I was afraid and thinking about getting a Sony A73. Has anyone had the same situation?

Woah I have the same setup. They are a match made in heaven😍 Got mine about 2 weeks ago along with the 24-105mm, 16mm and 50mm(all STM Lenses). Image quality is pretty crisp. Coming from a Nikon D5300, it has been a stellar upgrade so far😂 I have had no issues with the batteries or the overheating at 4k 60

I recently picked up the R6 mk ii after debating between it and the R8. Coming from both Canon 5d mk ii and 60D I wanted a more capable camera for sports and aviation photography primarily and the R6ii had slight edge in that regard with the 12 fps mechanical vs. 6 fps on the r8, both have 40fps electronic. For many of the reasons you touched in this video I will eventually pick up an R8 as a secondary. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the R8 Ryan!

I was shooting all day long in mountain trip using one battery. About 1000 photos and 20 short clips. Wifi and bluetooth off, of course. It's not as bad as they say. Definitely number 1 of the most underrated cameras.

Great video! This is the primary camera I use and it’s a beast! I can get through a whole day filming with just 2 batteries but I have a 3rd just in case. The only issue I’ve really had is the overheating. I’ll still take that for the price though because there’s ways to manage that.

@@filmingyu6623 usually over heats faster in direct sunlight. Not sure how long it takes to actually overheats because I’ve never let it get to that point but there’s a meter showing you how much it’s overheating. It happens mostly in 4k, especially 4k 60. As long as you’re not doing long takes in direct sunlight it’s fine. No issues at all indoors though

@@S.Creations1 I actually own both but I would say R8. I typically pick my R8 all the time for the full frame 4k! R has a crop on the 4k :( I do enjoy taking pics on my R and using it for 2nd angles (even tho I mainly use 1080p on it) haha

Yeah I agree, it’s a solid camera for everyday use. I did run into some overheating issues when I used it for a couple weddings, but overall solid camera for what you get 🤷🏾‍♂️

Dope content as always, I currently shoot on a Blackmagic 6k and Im looking to get a smaller mirrorless camera for a smaller set up or lower budget clients and Im actually looking into the R8 so this video is right on time, would love to see how it looks shooting a music video and some photography. What you gonna use it for? I have the r8 and sometimes think I shoulda got the r6 mark 2 for the ibis. If you're gonna be walking around with it, I'd go for the r6 mark 2. That ibis is huge as long as you're not too wide angle

@@jordontester7813 I don't know if the lens image stabilization is much better on the higher end lenses but I can tell you the lens image stabilization is not good enough on the less expensive lenses. I have the 24-105 RF f4-7.1 which also has lens image stabilization and it's not good enough for filming while walking. If you're standing still it's fine but if you walk it's too shaky.

I saw you ask a couple people about the overheating. Let me address that. I have both the R6 II and the R8 and have used them both on many shoots. The R8 will start to show the temp gauge warning just being out in the sun on a hot day, without recording anything. Having shot many outdoor hot weddings myself (but never with the R8), I would recommend that you go with the R6 II. You don't get re-do's with weddings. It's too crucial to trust that to the R8 that can't dissipate heat like the bigger brother can. I don't think I've ever seen the temp gauge pop up on the R6 II even when recording 4K in the same hot conditions. The R8 just sitting there starts to overheat without it even doing anything. Even when I do interview style videos in an air conditioned space, the R8 will show the overheat temp gauge after about 15 minutes of continuous recording. I realize that's not what you want to hear, but weddings are too important. Now if you were doing other types of shoots where YOU can control the pace of the shoot, then yeah, you can tell everyone to hold for camera, but you can't do that at weddings.

@@bhmstudio4395 As I said, even if the camera is doing NOTHING, it gets hot if it's in sunlight on a warm to hot day. I've shot enough weddings to know that it wouldn't have survived in particular outdoor weddings I had to do. So to answer your question, yes even if you're only shooting 1080P. If we could post photo comments, I'd show you just how hot it got just sitting outside on a 90 degree day occasionally being used to shoot photos (not even video). You're not going to be able to control the weather for weddings, it's not worth the risk of missing the shot at an outdoor wedding. Here's the thing, several people who own this camera made mentions about the overheating. I'd listen to us current owners. It's GREAT as a 2nd camera, but I wouldn't rely on this to shoot outdoor weddings.
