Just a heads up. I never had good luck with aftermarket batteries in Fuji cameras. Get the Fuji batteries. They last longer and don’t misbehave suddenly. My camera journey was a long way down the canon road till I was burnt out by the tool being just a tool. Tried Fuji on a whim, fell in love with photography again, now carry a xt5 every day everywhere and I love photography like I did when I was a kid.

I've created pressets that I use over the film simulations in Capture One. Basically I can change the simulation and copy all the settings to all the photos in a batch. So for me it doesn't matter as much, because I have a fast workflow anyways. It's nice to have these film simulation in the camera anyways.

The Ricoh GR3 basically does all of that for me, and it is even smaller. WAY smaller. And the sensor is still APS-C, which is huge for such a small point and shoot. So yeah, small cameras still have their spot.

I’m so glad that the X100V has made people see how amazing Fuji is for people not in the Fuji cult. I have been an avid Fuji fan for the past 5-ish years and the original reason is because the retro design. Then I went down the rabbit hole that is Fuji. The film simulations and recipes are unbelievable and for someone who grew up shooting film. For me editing images in LR or Adobe isn’t the same therapeutic experience a dark room is. I love Fuji and the shooting experience.

So glad you and Chris are now coming around to the Fuji experience (and over the *need* for full frame)! So there's a potential way to alleviate the battery problem... One thing I noticed when I bought a Sony A7c, having been (and still being) a Fuji shooter, is that the time it takes the Sony to go from OFF to Ready To Shoot is FOREVER, whereas my Fujis start very quickly. This kinda made me realise what might be making the battery experience of a Fuji worse for people used to Sony: I'm assuming you have a tendency to leave the camera on, and just bring it up to your face when there's an interesting shot (that's what I do at least when carrying the A7c), whereas with my Fujis I turn the camera on and bring it up to my face, take the shot, then turn it off again. Since the startup time is so short I don't end up waiting for the camera at all and it's as if the camera has been on all along, except on the day I end up saving a lot of battery. Hope that was helpful!

Enjoy your Fujifilm! At the end the best camera is the one that makes you shoot. That’s why I love and shoot with Fujfiilm (3 models now) and Ricoh Griii. These cameras give me the results I want without the need to load em up on an editor. I still have a backlog of travel and events but whenever I’ll work with them I know editing it’s not a big deal.

I've been NIKON for some 40 years with some camera or other until now. Bought X-T5 and 16mm Lens which I used on a recent hike. Home, and printed off one and amazed. Menu and key formatting just great. All NIKON "sold" .... so yes I'm hooked. I can now easily carry camera and a couple of lenses since weight is so much less

I’m undecided between the x-t5 and x-h2 and can only afford one body. What would you pick?
@mnathanielc
@mnathanielc Жыл бұрын
@@majororgans between those two, I think it mostly comes down to screen and dials. xt5 is film camera esc photo centered with the direct tilt screen, and dials for your settings. XH2 bodies cater more toward hybrid shooting photo/video, where you want the flip out screen, the mode dial with custom profiles, and options for a vertical grip. I personally use the xh2s for the gripped body hi speed shooting professional situation, as well as for video since the S has the stacked sensor with minimal rolling shutter for video, the custom mode dial also makes it very fast to switch from say 23.98 to 120 slow mo, and inside to outside situations since you can save a custom profile for each. I use the xt5 for everyday carry, where I just want a smaller photo camera that is a joy to use just for photo to capture daily life, I prefer the 3 way tilt screen for photo.

I’ve got my Sony a7iv set up how I want it. I love this camera. I’ve had 6 different Sony cameras and I’m happy with this a7iv. Love the 33mp too. I have tried out Canon, Olympus, Nikon, and Fuji. Every time I go back into my LR files, I just love the look of the Fuji images. The plan now is to keep the Sony until it burns out, and I am going to get a smaller Fuji for times when I don’t want to take all of my Sony gear out. Get the Fuji for walking around. I have tried all kinds of gear over the years. Bought and sold lenses, adapters, and gear. I’m done with that. 2 cameras and no more buying lenses.

For me, finally switching to mirrorless for eye autofocus, but wanting to stay with APS-C format, Fujifilm made the most sense for price and glass. Canon's R7 was looking good till they blocked third party lenses, given that they simply don't make fast glass for their APS-C cameras as they want to push people to full frame. Am very happy with my new XH-2 and the 56mm f1.2 lens, plenty of bokeh. And the 40mp sensor is great for astrophotography on my telescope. For my fancy stuff I use medium and large format film cameras anyway, as a hobbyist not pro.

I have an x100f and something I recommend is using the WB in Kelvins and THEN put the lil color setting into the weird colors (like -5 red and -8 blue for example). Like set the whole scene blue. Set green, or orange or whatever. The photos RARELY come out in a way one might want to show them to others, HOWEVER it does help one look at the world through a different light (literally ) which has improved my own composition and imagination. Also its silly. Sometimes we just need to be silly with it. Also the manual dials I think are great for folks who shoot digital (or in auto 100% of the time) but what to transition into film. It helps one learn I think! I enjoy the dials as I started in film, but from the opposite side of the road, I think that they are an awesome teaching tool.

Girl...I'm in the same wonderful boat! Sony user here who laughed at the thought of a Fuji. The more I watched videos on the 100V I thought I really should try it. Well knowing I would be on the dreaded waiting a list for months, I gave up waiting and figured I at least try whatever fuji was in stock so I could see if I would like the system. Well....After trying the T30II I decided to sell my back up Sony A7R4 to my A7R5 to buy the XT-5. Wow....I love what this camera produces right out of camera. And the weight difference in my kits, so happy. Anyway, I'm keeping (for now) the Sony for work, but I wouldn't be surprised if go full Fuji as I'm building my lens collection.

I didn´t knew about all the fuji hype since I'm a little away from photography (I am not a photographer, but I like to take photos on my Canon R7 and I cannot justify to carry that camera to every place) but I wanted to comeback to it with a minimal set up, since I don't like shooting with my iPhone. I bought a X100S about a week ago and I totally agree with you. Having a camera that fits on your pocket is amazing, and fuji colors are the simply best. The X100s don´t have all the settings of a X100V, you cannot make a lot with recipes, and the camera feels old, slow, outdated, but for recreational purposes, it cannot get any better and makes photography exciting again.

LIZZIE PLEASE READ THIS. The battery lasts forever IF you turn off Bluetooth. Bluetooth is killing your battery. I shoot a full day on 1 battery all the time. I updated to firmware version 3 and it had the Bluetooth setting on and I noticed my battery was getting crushed. Turn it off! Secondly, get a usbc dongle for your phone to transfer photos. Do not use the app. It's wayyyyyyy faster, way more stable to transfer this way. You can also transfer full sized jpegs and have those back up to say your Google photos right away. Cheers.

I am looking forward to something similar with the Leica Q3 (when I finally receive it). I believe it has presets you can apply and have shareable images with low effort. You hit the nail on the head though - sometimes a piece of gear is needed to inspire creativity. I think though it is important to recognize it does not have to be expensive or about instant gratification. I am using my old Nikon FA I bought about 6 years ago at the moment because I just turned 40 - and that camera was released the year I was born. I am loving playing with film, I am loving having a creative project based on the gear (basically just that camera, a 50mm F1.4 and a 28mm F2.8). I will see what it yields. Its definitely not low effort.... but man - how film slows you down and makes you work harder / different... and that is making me more creative in my other projects also.
