I see you have my all time favourite wagons - the more than slightly sinister War Department Ammonia tanks. Love the railway, and glad it still works. @@aureol40012 You make a good point but I’ll do my best to explain. The locomotive, rolling stock, and track that I own all currently came from my grandfather. Just like to mention cleaning track i use a very very fine wet and dry paper. 3000 grit or higher wrapped round a rectangular block of wood . Keep a little pressure on the block and rub it along the track.. This gets the surface dirt off fairly easy without any scouring or scratches.Then just wipe over.Some may frown but i have never had problems on my O gauge track and i have about 200ft.

I was wondering if a cat might appear - it did! The best garden railway in the world is the one you have. NB - IPA is cheaper in 5 litre jerry cans, I paid 18 quid on Amazon for my most recent resupply, and also there's never been an issue with lightly sanding the tops of the rails to keep them clean as far as I know if you use a fine grit paper and a sanding block like you did.

Nice to see an update. OK, here is a list of enemies of an outdoor railway: ONE: Ants ( they like making their nests right under/near any rail formation causing subsidance ) TWO: Rats - same as ants but on a much bigger scale - they will absolutely wreck any earth formation embankments ! THREE: And possibly the main enemy - hedgehogs. They will bulldoze any track as they do their nocturnal hunting - these creatures have totally destroyed track and any buildings ! FOUR: Corrosion of fishplates - always a major issue. Then of course there is the weather - a pain at times, but i ran trains in the rain with no ill effect except you have to dry off everything thouroughly ! i have track completely buried for over 4 years but apart from removing grass/plant roots and washing off earth - being so buried has actually helped preserve some stretches of track, amazingly enough.

whilst there are some out there which have on-board battery supplies, in this scale they tend to be little more than toys. No one seems to make it. It would also have an advantage over nickel silver being magnetic so trains with magnetic adhesion would work as well. Maybe there is a market for someone to produce it. Stainless costs only a little more than normal steel.
@ModelMinutes
@ModelMinutes 3 жыл бұрын
@@boywithadolphin magnetic adhesion hasn’t really been a thing since like the 70’s or 80’s, only some old products would have that feature. Not sure that would work as a selling point these days, perhaps people are happy with their NS track and the manufacturers see no reason to really change

According to a previous comment, it’s an off-shoot which will suck the main plant dry of all its nutrients. I’ve since followed the stem down to the roots and it was indeed part of the rose plant. I’ve since removed it

My garden railway is well and truly broken the woodpigeon has pooped all over it and the squirrels have smashed it so really I've left it and my train hoppers have bird seed in them so the blue tits and sparrows enjoyed it all so there is a positive outcome now!
