I just finished cataloging with Indyx! Observation: I have enough tops. More than I thought. What I can use are more pants and shoes. I suspect when I don’t like an outfit, I blame the shirt and have kept buying more vs looking critically at my bottom half.

@@BridgeOfLifeStudio yayy Will be watching that for sure. I was so happy to discover you, cos we have similar coloring contrast and hues in the face. And the exact same hair color! So now I can follow the advice and see what one of my seasonal color twins does. Fun to relate through that lense. (of color analysis with its origins is problematic, not scientific in any way and pretty racist&exclusionary in its origins. I just see it as a cultural imprint on fashion that is shaping the perception of other on us today. It's not the end all-be-all rules. Especially bcs it operates without taking into account that contrast to face tones is a valid way to go about it. Different effects for different impressions. That's why, yes, everyone can wear black. The effect will just be different on different people.) I could go on with an essay. But if you are interested in what the opposition of color theory has to say, then there was a good deep dive on the history of it or Natali de Shan talks about from her perspective as a stylist who has gone to art&design school&studied color theory extensively since uni days (with English subtitles on+very interesting fashion deep dives too)

I've been using Indyx since the beginning of this month and I love it. Especially love the outfit tracking calendar. 🤩 The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes it doesn't accurately track how many times I've worn an item. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

For me it seems to track the items well. Are you adding multiple outfits to one day? Because then if you have the same item in both outfits it will track it as worn twice

@@BridgeOfLifeStudio So, I use an app for creating my outfits in advance. I add it to my calendar on the day I decide to wear it and sometimes make changes to the outfit. It seems to me that, when I make the changes, the app does not register the updates and as a result doesn't accurately track the number of times the item is worn.

If you take an item out when you make the change, it won't count that anymore, that is true

I quickly switched to using screenshots of the article directly from the brand‘s online shop. They are mainly alreadly laid out flat, with perfect lighting conditions etc., which gives the catalogue items a much more polished look. And the cataloguing process becomes significantly faster. Of course, this approach doesn‘t work if you have a lot of older and/or thrifted items that are impossible to find in current online shops. Depending on how „non-unique“ the piece is, my solution for this is to just apply the process described above with a very similar article that is currently available in stores.

Yes, I have been doing that too for the pieces I could find nice flatlays of but most of my pieces are a little older or from Sézane, and they don't take flat lays
