The color trick is basically a simple implementation of an old gamedev trick: splatmaps. When using vertex colors you should be able to get 4 channels to use as masks: R, G, B, and Black (which is 0R 0G 0B). If you use an RGBA image texture, you could get another channel, Alpha, for a total of 5 masks in one.

I still can’t find a texturing add on or program better than Materialiser, keep up the great work 👍

How did you get the metal to appear on the white mask? Planning on purchasing this pack but I need to get a solid idea of things first. Please explain and thank you :)

Can we get the material preset save option, in the next update?
@CGThoughts11 ай бұрын
It's a frequent question. I'm focus on material creation. Manage a library is another job. A lot of addons and Blender itself allow to save material. I would like to keep focus on creation.😉

Do you think the focus isn't on me ? I didn't notice.

Well, it can be also just my eyesight. I'm getting old 😅. But have that feeling that something's off with the picture.

Procedural texturing with a node system is such a pain, my god, just use substance painter
@chopsuey469811 ай бұрын
@@Cyber_Kriss Maybe a lot of people have never used Substance Painter? Just look at the issue presented in this video. It's ridiculous to struggle this much with something so basic and should be intuitive in a creative process
@Cyber_Kriss11 ай бұрын
@@chopsuey4698 I get what you mean, but to each their own. It just doesn't work for you and that's fine, just use substance painter then.

I think about it from time to time, but I hesitate since I already texture pretty well in blender and I wonder if I really want to learn a new software. I already have so much still to learn in the several packages I do use…🤔
@chopsuey469811 ай бұрын
@@binyaminbass Yes, it's scary to learn new software. Substance painter is the same logic as photoshop with layers and masks, the software itself is nothing complex. The most complex thing is to have a good understanding of the concepts of baking, uv map and the different texture maps, but it's the same with blender. With a few tutorials, the learning curve can be fairly quick.

@@chopsuey4698 well, maybe I will try it out. The 2024 perpetual should be out on steam soon, i hope. do you think SD is necessary? I mainly want to surface my stylized, pixar-ish characters.
