I love the fact that Windows on Arm is getting more attention and the number of native apps is increasing. I own a Samsung Galaxy Book S (2020) with the Snapdragon 8cx, which is the thinnest & lightest (960g) and most portable notebook with an excellent 13 " screen, multi day battery life and very good speakers. I bought it used for 180.- $ 2 yrs ago and was almost going to give up on it because of the lack of support for some of my favourite apps. Not any more and I am sooo glad I kept it

Finally - a clear, unbiased review of Snapdragon vs intel. I'm torn between two Dell XPS 13s - the intel core ultra 7 258V and the Snapdragon elite. Had to really search for this. I don't really use Google drive desktop (only google drive through my online Google account - I assume that works fine?), and don't have time to do much gaming anymore, except some games that are played in browser (also assuming those work fine?). So I'm leaning Snapdragon because it's currently $300 cheaper ($1,300 vs $1,600). The battery life is pretty important to me.

I have been following these new Windows on ARM laptops closely with great interest. As much as I think to myself how awesome it would be to have a Windows machine with a far more efficient chipset architecture, the reality for me is that I couldn't make the plunge because these WoA machines would not run many of the emulators or games that I sometimes play on my normal PC. Also, there is another issue that you did not cover in your video: drivers. On these machines, there are no drivers to let you connect to and hack Android phones or access bootloader, modem diagnostics, etc. Because of these reasons, my next laptop would probably be an AMD Strix Point machine. I can sacrifice some battery life for full-blown compatibility.
@kjwin-g6i12 күн бұрын
"I have tried most of the apps mentioned in this video, but unfortunately, they don't perform very well. I recommend sticking with Intel and avoiding ARM architecture. It's important to note that many developers have indicated they will not be upgrading their applications to support Windows on ARM. Therefore, be sure to verify the compatibility of any applications you plan to use with Windows ARM." I personally do not like macOS even if the price was the same as PC's . I bought the latest MacBook with the M4 Max chip for Christmas, but after about a week of using it, I put it away in a cupboard. To me, it feels more like an iPad for laptops and desktops. You need to purchase around 10 additional apps just to do things that Windows handles out of the box. Switching to macOS after using Windows for 30 years felt like stepping back in time to Windows 95-limited and restrictive compared to the capabilities of Windows 10 or 11. "As for the battery, yes, it can last longer, but that's only because it's been used for light activities like listening to music, watching videos, and light photo editing-none of which require much power. In comparison, my Intel device can last around 8 hours with the same usage. However, if you try to do any heavy work, the battery will drain quickly. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to avoid battery drain, especially with devices that are constantly being powered on and off. Even in 2025, battery technology hasn’t advanced enough to sustain a full charge for an extended period when used intensively. Similarly, many electric cars experience reduced battery life and capacity over time, with some manufacturers guaranteeing at most 70-80% capacity retention after around 100,000 miles."

It is sad to hear that Windows on ARM still needs work. Most harmful software to Windows is code that looks for Intel code, security by obscurity! I hope to see things grow for WOA. My Chromebook is running my Steam application and I have no complaints so far. The more that an OS can run on many different hardware platforms creates a security by obscurity environment. For me I prefer Linus OS on ARM devices like the Raspberry Pi, I am seeing not just the normal productivity software for ARM devices but also some 3rd party's too. Balena Etcher and WPS Office can run on Linux OS made for the Raspberry Pi in deb file. Meaning they were made for Raspbian OS for the Raspberry Pi that is based on Debian OS. Yah, I do believe that things can advance for Windows on ARM in time.

I work for a company that is all in on Microsoft, so I think this will run everything I need for work just fine. I don't think that is an uncommon user case? Will it be a long time before almost all productivity software and a decent amount of games will run on a Snapdragon PC? I think that productivity software will mostly be ready within months.. games will take longer and will only come if the market share looks big enough to entice developers. So, I would have concluded that it is probably safest to wait 6 months if you want a productivity device.. and wait indefinitely if you want a gaming device.
