Harrison did half ass it. You just didn’t notice because that’s his style. He constantly complained about dialogue, direction, refused to say certain lines, refused to do more retakes than he felt like doing. In this and the Indiana Jones movies he suggested shortcuts to shorten shooting schedules, often packed it in early. The dude is famously lazy. Mark Hamill even said it. Seriously, if he ever brought or didn’t bring his “A game” would you notice? Have you noticed? You can’t. Every actor lags occasionally unless you’re some insane “deep method” nutjob or leader of a cult like Tom Cruise. But all of Harrison Ford’s performances evince the same amount of energy.

The star wars "fanbase" is miserable
@gecho884814 күн бұрын
The problem with some actors in anything like star wars is the pretence. Like why not just say "Yeah I never liked this before and now it seems interesting". Or even just "Yeah I'm not a fan of the franchise really, but I do like the story that's being told in this case." Actors don't have to be knowledgeable about the lore as a whole, they just need to know their part in it. They don't need to have been a fan in the past, they just need to have some passion for the story they are trying to tell now. The showrunners, directors and writers are the ones who need to see the big picture, and even then they need people around them who are super knowledgably in more niche/specific areas. However the fact that so many interviews go like this, with so many actors in so many shows. Simply speaks to how they feel a need to put up a front, they feel a need to lie or else be exposed. So exposed for what? Having done no real background or character work for the role they have been given, aka their job? Having no respect for the opportunity to be a part of something so valued by so many? Or are they simply afraid of being exposed as talentless fools who rely on a fake as hell political/social agenda to get work rather than their skill? Seems to me the biggest acting gig they ever got was pretending to be a creative whilst in actuality being a soulless contractor who will be in anything that pays whether they care for it or not. The most acting they do is in public appearances.
@humandisaster390212 күн бұрын
Actors in Star Wars have said that in the past. I'd like you to read what was said about them on their private social media pages and why maybe these actors would go through a team of PR specialists trained in deflecting statements to try and avoid that instance. The problem isn't the statements, the problem isn't the actors, the problem for why these actors came across as bland? Is the fans. If you try honesty, you end up with death threats on your private facebook you use to keep in touch with family. If you try talking about how much you love Star Wars, then twitter is a place you should forget about for a while. If you deflect? God save your soul.

@@humandisaster3902 This is definitely true to an extent. But it's always true to some degree no matter what you do, especially on the internet. I do understand why they act this way in some cases. But honestly the options are basically: 1. Be genuine and honest knowing you will always get some hate because it's unavoidable. 2. Be pretentious and fake and get hate anyway even from those people who would have appreciated the authenticity. If it's a choice between being yourself and having people be stupid or being disingenuous and having people be stupid plus giving them more ammunition. I'd pick the first option every time.

@gecho884812 күн бұрын
@@humandisaster3902 Agreed, that's what I have a problem with. And having actors be like this only panders to the morons that spew that hate, it's appeasement. Not to mention they are a minority anyway.. The only way to deal with that stuff is to refuse to play their games. Putting on a show for the morons is inherently stooping to their level and playing their game by their rules. And there are so many examples of great communities massively appreciating genuine, honest authenticity so it's a pretty dumb defence anyway. I get what you are saying, and I agree it's not necessarily the actors fault. But also sometimes they are just bad actors or pretentious morons who are just chasing the money. And that's fine, but be honest about. People can tell anyway.
