Those are 5 steps above the army surplus Willie's Jeep that were available after WW2. I can see why UTV manufacturers are fighting against these in trying to prevent their importation.

I'm sold on the concept. I am not sold on the price. The rest of you need to buy them all up and in 6 to 10 years they will be on the used market in the price range i would go for. So go ahead and get to buying them all up so there will be a complete parts pipeline when I get my used one.

25 y/o ones have been getting imported for decades. I don't know where you live, but in central VA a Craigslist or Marketplace for "Japanese mini truck" or Hijet or Acty will bring up multiple options under $10k. And they aren't governed like the new ones if that matters to you.
@rodgerneeb301
@rodgerneeb301 10 ай бұрын
@Noah_E Yes, exactly. That is proof of concept of what I'm saying. However, there is another thing to keep in mind. By their very nature, those are Grey Market orphans here. Where would one go for parts support? Would the parts for the new ones be usable on older Grey Market orphans? Or will the new generation of imports be as orphaned as the old ones? I'll let others have the fun of finding that out and wait. I have gotten to the point of buying my flat screen TVs from the pawn shop, I've had good luck with them, and they cost less than most pay for the warranty on theirs ...

@@rodgerneeb301 they are really simple to the point that most didn't use EFI until the 2000s. Japan makes about a half million Kei trucks a year so parts are plentiful. There isn't much to break and maintenance/wear items are readily available online. Especially if you use wider rims so you can use tires available here instead of the narrow ones they use in Japan.

The main problem with these vehicles is that they are very light and are limited to the amount of snow that they can push. They also have very thin paint which is okay in most places in Japan but if you’re county or city uses salt on the roads they will rust away very quickly. They have a 660 cc engine and they are very low on power, one of the benefits is that they are a 4x4 and are fun to drive. Mine is a 2002 and is in new condition but a friend bought one and used it to clean snow and after 3 years there wasn’t a lot left, the paint might be better now. I do enjoy it but a serious work truck it is not. No offence to you good sir but this is just my opinion of an older version of the same vehicle…. They have very thin body panels.

Enjoy your reviews. Helped me with my tractor & implements purchases. That straight edge Fisher plow is definitely a substandard build. Thin cutting blade & lack of additional rib bracing make plow light weight but fragile. I installed one on my Gladiator and used it 2 times. First plow was 1" fluffy powder and bent one corner of cutting edge. 2nd storm was 3-4 inches of wet New England snow and bent other corner of cutting edge and also bent the plow. Uninstalled plow and purchased another. Fisher plow has spent 2 yrs in my yard because I cannot in good faith sell it because its so flimsy. I hope you have better luck but really am waiting for an end of season review to see how yours lasted.

We use Magic treated salt. Google your area. Available in pallets with bags and usually a supply yard will carry bulk. For that smaller spreader I would suggest bags. You can store in the shop and slice bags and fill the hopper in doors

I like the durability, comfort, and quietness vs a SXS, but would go with a 25+ y/o one that isn't governed. I've had our Ranger XP900 over 60 mph countless times traveling between our pond and cabin/garage. If I wanted to take thrice as long I'd take a tractor.

Indusco supply does sell salt by the pallets and they have a variety of solutions. They are a janitorial company so they sell the stuff to facilities by the pallets if that's what you're looking for as i personally have bought from them many times. If you want it delivered by the truck load I've seen a few companies advertising on marketplace that might be able to better assist you I'd look into that.

Plowing snow with a standard transmission is NOT the way to go for sure. However, a dump with automatic kicks the crap out of any sxs on the market. $10k-$15k cheaper than Polaris or Deere and is road legal. Sxs in my state cannot be plated. This is a million times better, more useful, quieter, comfortable year round…this is a winner. Hands down, no competition with any sxs, they’re not even close.

Cool little truck. Most certainly has a place and purpose. I don't know if I can mention brand names but here it is. Peladow ice melt is what I have had an opportunity to work with. The organization I worked with bought the stuff by the pallet. Many pallets. We used a salt sand mix as well in our larger spreaders. The smaller trucks spread the sand mix by hand after clearing major snowfall. While still snow flying, Even a small build up after spreading a sand mix would leaves piles of a slushy mush inches deep and more often than not quickly freeze and turn to ice, causing hazardous walking conditions for weeks later and in some cases the rest of the winter. As you may be able to tell, I was with a very large Transportation agency. When I had a crew or working at my specific assigned location, I would instruct the use of Peladow, (on the sneak), it is concrete friendly, much easier to distribute and at far less quantities. After clearing a location and moving to one of many a crew would have, continued snowfall would still accumulate but at a slower rate and usually would remain in a moveable state for mop up operations sometimes a few day after a snow event. After mop up, sprinkle some sparingly and after the sun hit it, it would be down to shinning bare pavement or sidewalk. Expensive but larger volumes are sold a substantial savings and between quantities used and labor it could be a wash. Definitely easier on the equipment than salt. Can be had in 50lb bags. Usually I would rescue a bag or two to take home for my hilly driveway and one bag would last me for the season at home. On sheet ice, sprinkle some very sparingly and it would put hole in the ice and start running underneath, As soon as the sun hit it, boom, gone. Try some. Once you know how to use it, you will swear by the stuff as I do. No, I don't work for that company or stand to gain in any way by writing this, just sharing what I have learned by using it. GL with your next blizzard. By the way, I am in the NE, and we get snow, lots of it.

These are Japanese domestic market trucks ( _kei taro_ )... what surprised me is that these are new vehicles, I thought they had to be at least 25 years old to warrant importation into the USA. Nice set up. I have a Hijet Jumbo but I’d love a dump bed! Is the airbags a problem when plowing?

Id do some test with different media on the spreader , maybe fine gravel sand mix. Super cheap , blend it, store it dry then you can buy as dump loads

Polaris is hard to beat with capability and top speed. 20 mph is slow even for farm use with any substantial acreage

Why Polaris hasn’t gotten smart and build a long bed ranger is beyond me. Something like can-am’s defender pro 4x4 which has a 6’ long bed. I’m in between the defender pro, or one of these mini trucks for use on our farm & tract in WV. These trucks are definitely more utility focused, practical, and will probably be more reliable. No comparison off road though.

This would require a tank but beet juice was being trialed years ago here in northern Michigan instead of calcium chloride.

You will have to look for a brine solution unit with the new chlorate restrictions the EPA is implementing.

Forget about melting the ice and focus on complete snow removal. Instead of salt use kitty litter. If you have any spots where salt is a must spread it by hand and in only that area. I understand being a business and liability so if you end up going salt give the kitty litter a try in areas where the public won't be, that way you can judge the results for yourself.

hey man you should look into corrosion protection like fluid film or other brands and do a video about protecting your machine from rust and salt in the winter. i am a heavy equipment mechanic and there are companys and kits sold that coat your tractor to prevent rust and its waterproof unless you have a hot pressure washer
