Yep. People get involved before they know they are compatible as friends. Then the hormones kick in and lust etc. And when those chemicals are gone, you're looking at the dude like what the f*ck was I thinking (or vice versa or both 🤦🏻‍♀️) There's a book called Creating a Spiritual Relationship that I've been trying to follow recently. It's by Paul Ferrini. And in it he suggests getting to know the person for a month to three months without sex to make sure there is compatibility before all the chemical soup happens ✌🏼 I know this was how it was back in the day but we millennials are dumb/ naive (and honestly weren't modeled to very well) when it comes to relationships and need help 😅

@@TamarWise My daughter was at a base in Arizona when the man she had not yet married was in Iraq. They were apart for 18 months. They wrote and talked about everything they wanted in a future mate and how they wanted to be able to interact with a spouse -- including money, children, in-laws. We referred to it as a Victorian courtship with sidearms. Their marriage of 7 years is rock solid. Before they started dating they each had their own apartment, car, insurance, furniture, etc., so they came to the relationship as whole people -- not looking for someone to complete them. Also not looking at the partner as a fixer-upper project.

@@gracekereen I once dated a guy who was legitimately cruel to me until I would cry and then suddenly he was in a great mood. When I stopped arguing back, he got mad at me and said that a relationship couldn't be healthy unless you fought every day - and he was not joking; he genuinely believed that. We had been friends for years at that point, but I am so glad I only dated him for a month. I think I needed him, though, because he made me realize I wanted peace at all costs and that fact made me more emotionally mature in relationships. I checked out before I left my ex. We were 3 months broken up, I met my now husband, but back then my ex messaged me on Facebook, calling me a nasty a** b****, said I cheated on him. 😂 Can't cheat if we ain't together. That head diving into conclusions and his own feelings was why I left him. He wanted to game with his friends more than he wanted to do anything with his live in girlfriend. We started long distance. I moved in with the promise he would move for me. He never did. He promised he would when my grandma died. That was the year I left him. When he made his promise an issue, when my family meant nothing to him, that was the last straw. He effed his dog as a teen, by the way.

I asked my ex to compliment me, something he liked about me, as a little fun exercise to give each other feedback and say sth nice to bright up the day. It took him minutes to come up with "you have high expectations". That was it. The saddest thing was, I didn't recognise it in that moment - he haven't liked me for quite some time. It hurts so much to live with someone for months who doesn't like you. Like sth is missing and your self worth dying but they are too good at masking and well avoiding any serious discussion about it.

On target… months before the event that had me realising I didn’t even like him anymore, my ex said to me after 20 years of relationship that if he had to choose between his best male friend (both are straight) and me, he didn’t know who he would choose. He thought he was sharing that as a man he could admit that he had a close friend that he loved, but what he was telling me was that I was not his priority. I knew if I was forced to choose I’d have chose him without question. Then, it took our very last interaction-one more disrespectful, passive aggressive stunt where I had no clue yet again why I was being “aggressed” against-for me to reach the conclusion that I didn’t like him anymore. Thank goodness he decided to engage in that behavior as he left for a three week trip to visit his friend and his friend’s wife in Australia. I thought to myself, “That’s how you choose to say goodbye to your partner.” I decided to leave a week later. Never did tell him that it was his comment about his friend that set off my questioning the relationship and his goodbye that sealed the deal. Didn’t need to hear him blame me yet again for his inability to deal with his feelings like an adult. Ladies and Gentlemen, don’t stay with someone who disrespects you.

Have the patience to be a supportive friend and partner while they work through their own issues, but have the clarity of mind to know when their healing is damaging you in the process, and don't tolerate that shit. Have the strength to walk away from things that make you unhealthy or unhappy, but have the maturity to acknowledge that none of us are perfect, including you, and that your health and happiness is your responsibility not theirs. Have the courage to hold others accountable when they've wronged you, but have the decency to admit when you make mistakes yourself and focus on how to fix them.

I love this song! I feel like it says all the things I couldn't say to the woman who broke my heart. She didn't deserve all my time and effort. And I don't have to ever give it to her anymore. Leave the people who make you cry when you should be smiling, who make you feel like you're the problem, who make you feel less for being open with your emotions. Be you and be proud because NO ONE else could be you 💜

Most guys are desperate to get into relationships, once they get into them they treat you badly within a few days that shows psychotic traits.

I’m so torn this song resonates so loudly with me now . I have to ask my spouse IF he loves me because he looks at me in a angry manner it makes me question it . He constantly is telling me how I can be better how I need to change. I feel like as I am getting true to myself . I’m crying on a weekly basis . There are a lot times of happiness, but it’s the times that I question everything …makes me wonder if marriage is truly this? Or do I take my son and go.

This was how I felt at the end of my 2 year relationship. It's been 5 years though, so a long time has passed. Everytime I hear this song though I am reminded of that relationship. How I stayed until I literally had no feelings for him anymore.
