HE was living in a house she was paying rent on. THEY did not live together and I do not know how they avoided arrest. She had to rent another apartment, lost her car. Walked to work to her first job, took cab to her second job and home. He could not be bothered to leave his house in a town a few minutes away to take her to and from work. Dave is such a dope. She owns a home if she can't afford it she just sells it. Or she can get another room mate. Dave's "remedy" to this is to marry him and pay off his debt. And Simp Delony - he can lose his job whether or not he is married, and if he's married he has property rights to the home until they are divorced. In these two moron's White Knight zeal to bend the knee and save "me lady," they gave her the worse possible advice - to husband up a broke dude, move him in, and pay his bills.

Where im from theres a thing called common law, where after living together for 1 year you are "legally married" in the eyes of the law. Not sure why Dave just jumps in off the hop without knowing all the details

Goodness... I wish he would've told her how to get rid of the house on her own. Her judgement is naive. Signing a mortgage on her own when she doesn't make enough, was clearly a mistake... :( hope she' ll be ok, this is a mess.

Can someone answer this. What is the difference between owning a home with someone you are married with versus someone you aren’t if both of you are on the deed and mortgage
@rcathegreat435818 күн бұрын
There is no difference. The push for marriage is just cult like

Who is PAYING the mortgage? WHO is PAYING for maintenance/upgrades: plumbing, HVAC, paint, furniture, appliances, etc. WHO wants H.A.L.F. “if” you sell for a profit. WHO is on the hook if you don’t sell for a profit. The questions go on and on
@mtbokor196918 күн бұрын
Except that they are not both on the lease or mortgage
@blakeharrison397218 күн бұрын
If they were to divorce usually courts will force the sale of the house, if they breakup there’s nothing that can force the sale
@rcathegreat435818 күн бұрын
@cyoohoos both pay everything. It's not a complicated math problem. Two people work out things with each other because they have a relationship together. Not because the law says to do it s certain way.
@MuzzyBarker18 күн бұрын
Dave really needs to make his mind up in regards to what marriage is. When he's talking to someone who's cohabitating in a long-term relationship, he says they're married. When he's talking to someone who's engaged and co-mingling finances, she's somehow not married. It doesn't make sense.

My husband and I lived like this for12 years. Now we are happily married for 28 years. We did it mostly out of fear: I was divorced from a cheater and my husband had 5 divorced sisters. In the end it all worked out.

Only thing I don't like about the constant pressure for these early 20's people to get married is: How many calls have come in where the recommendation or implication was divorce? So easily they say "get married" but it seems more sensible to encourage seeing a marriage counselor and then consider marriage. They definitely recommend counseling. But they more often simply and "dismissively" say get married. Nah. Some people should not be married. Get married to unite finances? Still not a good enough reason if divorce comes only some years later. Y'll have no idea about the integrity of these relationships where you're verbal-shotgunning them into marriage. If they wanted to do it they'd don it. Forcing it is DUBIOUS.

She’s soooo sweet… and clueless. And life is going to hit her like a freight train 🚂 and we are not being negative or jaded but realistic and everyone keeps thinking they are the exception. Oh we’ve been together and he talks about marriage and bought a promise ring… 💍 yeah a promise ring is cheaper and easier for a man than to walk down the aisle. Duh

Engaged for three years means he is very comfortable with having all the perks with no commitment. Or she is. Why was she the one to buy a house, and not he? Better to sell the house than push a marriage that will not last.

@davidmilhouscarter819813 күн бұрын
Why are you engaged if there is no wedding date?
@GAFB112218 күн бұрын
If there is one common theme I've found among people and that is, they often want to do it their way and reject good advice from those who are wiser and have more experience AND if or when things go bad which often they do, they are figuratively on your doorstep asking for help, asking you to bail them out. My kid knows if you reject my good advice to do it your way, then be prepared to fix your own mistakes and if that takes years, then so be it!! But if you have done a decent job as a parent, they would have learned this lesson early in life, long before the big decisions of marriage, kids, home buying, etc.
@loriloristuff18 күн бұрын
Thank you for explaining that to him. Many parents don't. Then reality bites the adult kids in the butt.
