Honestly, I don’t care what society wants from me. I don’t break the law, I don’t hurt or take advantage of others, and I certainly don’t dictate or decide how other people should be living their lives. I’m divorced and detached from society’s “expectations.” I don’t live your life and you don’t live mine.

Its shockingly cheap to live as a single male, especially if you are a minimalist. Once you realize your only working to impress woman who dont know what they want anyway, theres literally no point to grind 40 hours a week at a crap job just to eat and support minor habits.

You never truly own your home either, constant costly repairs 💸💸💸 (if the home is older) property taxes every year, also increasing every year, hoa fees (if aplicable) you have to give your whole life up for that headache of an existense. If you chose or are choosing this path i hope your boss pays you good and doesn't turn on you/fire you when you least suspect. Its really only part of it. The social engineering started well before social media. Social media just finished the job. It started with usurping authority from men over the families they are expected to provide for. The bashing of masculinity and the artificial propping up of women. Teaching women that men are oppressive and need to be controlled. Most women are going to have some level of disrespect for men essentially dooming most relationships. They have also been indoctrinated in such a way that self reflection and introspection is not possible. Anything that challenges their ideology induces a mental breakdown. She will expect contradictory things from you and you would think pointing that out would help get a solution. And you would be wrong, all you will get is "figure it out"

Actually more and more people figure out that there is no point in working hard anymore. So people find alternatives to enjoy their lives instead. This doesn't mean we are lazy, it just means we don't waste precious time on something impossible to achieve or won't fulfill us in the long term even if we achieve it. I think this generation realizes that being happy and content is the real success and putting yourself through immense struggle just to advance in your career is pointless as most of the time it doesn't even work.

This is something that has long been on my mind. We're brought up to believe in the importance of "contributing to society." But there's no end game to it. It's not like there's this utopia we're all striving towards. It's just generation after generation, on and on forever, and no matter how hard each generation works, society always seems to get worse. Society takes the best years of your life and then throws you away. It doesn't care about you. If you're lucky, after a lifetime of contributing, you might get to enjoy your freedom for a handful of years in reasonable health when you retire. If you are lucky. Society tells us we need a college degree, a prestigious job, to own our own home, drive a luxury car, have a wife, a bunch of kids and so on. And if you don't achieve all these things by 30, you're a loser. It's all bullshit. You don't need any of these hugely expensive things to live a happy and fulfilled life, and ever more of us are realising that.

In fact the harder you work, the less you get paid and if you're not self employed and you're too good at your job, or actually have a moral compass, you're probably going to go through 10 different companies dealing with insecure bosses who want you gone.

I'm 46 male, never married, no kids and single for about 5 or 6 years through my own choice. Getting into a relationship becomes less and less appealing with each passing year, and my willingness to make the effort to try has almost disappeared. I work hard and well at my job, go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week, my social life is at a level where it suits me perfectly, and I spend lots of my free time travelling and hiking/mountain walking by myself. Getting into a relationship just seems like far too much of an effort with a minimal guarantee that it's going to improve the quality of my life now AND in the long term. If people can't understand that I'm perfectly happy doing my own thing like this, I see it is their problem rather than mine.

Great video. You are noticing a phenomenon many amen are experiencing these days. I have been describing it as “ upside down and backwards. “ I think the main thing for men is to adjust our scope and to dig deeper into ourselves and find meaning for ourselves first . In a way it is a great opportunity to be who we are and not who others want us to be. Men are under valued in todays society. We have been lied to to stay slaves. It is a new story and we must write in ourselves as characters we want to be. It isn’t easy , but what else you going to do?

Believe me I’ve tried being a man enough. I gave up society because of expenses, failed dating experience, social interactions, seeing couples & too many trends on social media. I don’t see the downsides. I’ve hated society since I was a kid. Social media is not socializing. Communications just die off if you’re not caught up to their interests or just not following it at all. I have some social medias but not a lot so I’ll catch up later. Trying the red pill, didn't work out. Trying the masculine role does not work for me. I don’t hate the role but I just can't do it. I lived without a father. I’ve embraced my downfalls. It’s already hard being man enough trying not to lose my mind in front of my family, friends or anyone. I would have to shut down & shut everyone out for my own good. If I have to isolate & push everyone away without giving emotional baggage, then I will. I work a regular ( part-time-overtime ) job because all I care about is saving or spending whatever I want without asking anyone. I gave up my car after the accident just to commute to work by bike. Every day & night even past midnight because I don’t care how dark it is outside or how crazy I am. I burn calories instead of gas which saves me money. I used to walk home from work once, 12am to 4am after a late night shift. I respect people's personal space, stay in my lane & stay out of trouble. I don't even care about my future. I live in the moment as my fate decides. I’ve been through hell in life. I’d do it again. Been told way too many times “Don’t give up on yourself. Don’t doubt yourself.” Too late. Not helpful enough. If I don’t get what I want from this world, then I don’t want it at all. I will just stop bothering & asking. Even if I got what I’ve wanted but still not happy yet, I’d give up & trade it all away just to start over with nothing. I’m learning lessons everyday. I don't hope anymore, I just cope. 4th year being single. I travel & explore when I have money. I just let conversations & interactions naturally flow. I enjoy the company of people at times whenever I meet someone cool. I have outlets, money & hobbies to escape. That’s the only few reasons why I’m still alive. “Good enough” isn’t really good enough anymore & I’d rather die doing whatever I enjoy. If my life ends, oh well I’ve tried my best here. That's just what it is.

@@outbackgearforu Sadly I’m not Christian or religious. Grew up going to church mostly because my mom say so. I was given everything so feeling spoiled as a kid. I’ve seen how screwed up this world is. A few of my family members have been homeless & living in the car for years until they could afford it. They used to be asking my mom for money. That can be a struggle again. I can’t sacrifice if not given respect or been through the struggle with me. I respect people’s religion. It’s just not my thing at all. The problem is if they go to far with it by controlling others life & judge others I’m way past forgiving. I’m friends with two gay couples. One of them was judged by their pastor when opening up. The pastor couldn’t pray the gay away (Greys anatomy).

Thanks for sharing, it truly resonated with me and I could totally relate.. I still struggle with putting on that facade of masculinity, don't get me wrong I am definitely a man and act like one at my core but sometimes I notice I put it on because society expects it of me but I don't know how to act any other way i.e. "be vulnerable" "ask for help" "trust" etc and your comment on hating society since childhood, I can totally relate and as an adult I often struggle with misanthropy but at the same time I have met some of the nicest, most caring people so I say to myself metaphorically "you'd burn a world with people like that in it?" and I begrudgingly agree with that inner monologue and say to myself "you're just frustrated with a select few" its vital to not make broad sweeping claims that everyone sucks.. there is the online world and then there's the real world, two completely different arenas and online is the only place where I get fed up and disgusted with society but in person for the most part, everyone is pretty chill maybe it is my personality in person but most people are really nice to me, rarely do people mistreat me or bother me (except arrogant aggressive drivers) and your mention of staying in your lane respecting personal space, I think a lot of us guys are this way, were normally pretty chill with one another and conflict avoidant, its only ever a problem if someone crosses "that line" ya know? but I totally hear ya on living life your way, doing what makes you happy. I've got so many friends that just do the 9 to 5, 40 hours a week, barely get time for themselves and if they do they're doing busy work at the home or with their GF or wife, its a busy life, maybe even another form of escapism or coping, I remember talking to my friend about such things and I told him "I don't want anyone to take my happiness away.." and I live by this mantra now, I've done what society expected of me, worked the miserable jobs because as a man it is necessary and no one else would do it.. was I proud of what I accomplished? did I feel a sense of accomplishment, were there aspects of it I liked? the camaraderie, the challenge? sure. but it wasn't worth my physical and mental health, its a long life to live and I can't imagine living most of it in misery, I will die doing what makes me happy, because after this life there is nothing else, I've one life to live and damn it I'm doing it my way

Gone are the days of duty, respect and even bravery. Much to lose, and crumbs to gain. So when society says "you should do X", my response is "Why should I? What do I gain by impressing you?". After being just a man THEN you deal with the consequences of being a black/White/brown man and it’s EVEN MORE pressure to conform to “racial” standards 😂 (Black men are violent jail birds) (white men are racist patriarchs) I’m not gonna name every example because I haven’t walked in everyone’s shoes, you get the idea

It's hard to maintain the working out when it's only your own standards. Though in other countries, especially in car-optional cities, you do a lot more walking and stair climbing and everyday exercise in the course of doing other things. Here we've engineered that out and people will take an elevator just to go up one floor.

For me personally, with regard to work; I feel like with it feeling impossible to ever afford a home and the collapse of the ability to meet women to date so I can start a family, I'm left wondering what there is left to work for? Owning land and having a family were main motivators. Why should I spend 40-50 hours a week working a job I don't like making money I can't use on anything meaningful? So I now work entry level jobs, live cheap and I'm much happier

One of the biggest issues for us as men is the definition of a man. A man is an adult male, that's it. People confuse what a man DOES with what a man is and they think "man" is a title that needs to be earned and can be taken away, it's not. A "real" man is nothing more than an male that has physically fully matured, all this nonsense about someone not being a real man based on what he does or doesn't do is ridiculous and used to diminish men psychologically. With that being said we have to stop letting other define us based on their superficial and illogical standards and rules and focus on being the best humans we can be.

I thought why don't I do that the rest of my life and use the money I saved for a wife and a family that never happened, and fix my boat to live on, sailing the world and catch as many different kind of fish I can. I'm leaving next year!

I definitely think that if you didn’t meet the one for you, the decision you made is wonderful. However, you may still meet someone. I didn’t think I was going to get married. As a Christian woman, I desired to get married. I finally accepted that I wouldn’t one year. However, I thank God I met my husband that year. Is everything perfect? No But is the single life perfect? No So, it’s best to enjoy the best of whatever you have. I am a working mom who works from home & homeschools. My husband has a hybrid schedule & commutes every single day but finishes off work at home. God can provide exceedingly more than we can expect and we will experience trials both in or out of a marriage. Hoping you continue to enjoy your boat and fishing! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I think it's a bad idea to orient your life around questions like, "What does society want from me?" or "What do women want from me?" That puts the control of your life in other people's hands, not your own. It places your center of gravity in other people and "society," instead of where it should be -- inside you. It turns you into a conformist and approval-seeker. Not a recipe for a good life. Turn inward. Ask yourself what you want. Ask yourself what is important to you. Then go from there.

You're right, though it's very hard to put it into practice. Most people are followers...heck, that's why tyrants come to power and hold onto it. Society also will ALWAYS try to tell you what to do, with the followers bringing that down to the personal level. At least with the Internet it's easier to not feel isolated like they want you to feel.

I think there are 2 main problems. First, people are looking to society to understand how to define themselves and their identities. Second, as humans we need to understand that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has inherent value, simply because we exist. Your identity should not have to be wrapped up in something like being "the protector" or "the breadwinner." Your worth and value are NOT defined by how much you earn or what you can do for or bring to someone. You have worth, simply because you ARE. The sooner people let go of these societal expectations and definitions of gender roles and worth, the easier it will be for ALL of us to communicate more authentically with each other. Speaking from my own experience, I have checked out because I feel exactly the same way. I have not yet met a man with whom I feel safe enough (mentally and emotionally) to entrust certain aspects of my welfare and well-being to his care. When I have tried to give that trust, I have been taken advantage of, lied to, cheated on, and abused (mentally, verbally, emotionally, and at times physically). So of course I'm in my "strong, independent woman" vibe now, because that's the best way I know to protect myself right now. A lot of men out here are showing (by the ways they speak to and about women as well as their actions) that I will not be safe, respected, or valued with them. I mean, being a "provider" or "breadwinner" means nothing if that person is an a-hole who is abusive and unconcerned about the mental and emotional well-being of whoever they're claiming to provide for. So yeah, I've checked out too. I'm single and staying that way until the man I am most aligned with comes along. I don't need anyone to "pass the time with" until then. I'll just focus on growing and expanding my business, launching and growing my KZbin channel, falling in love with myself again, healing, finding joy in the simple things, and appreciating the adventure life has to offer. And whether I'm single or in a relationship, I refuse to have society's expectations forced on me or to define myself by what society thinks I should be. As humans we were put on this Earth with free will. We were never meant to be a "hive mind," so stop trying to fit into these weird, boxes that restrict and define you for no reason, and stop expecting others to fit into those boxes. The beauty of our species, and one of the most fascinating things about it, is our uniqueness...our individuality.

You make a lot of good points, though your mom or grandmother might tell you you're setting yourself up to be single likely for life because the demographics just keep getting more stacked against you with age. Though there are certainly worse things, like the abusive relationship.

@@myfriendgoo2816 my mother or grandmothers *might* say those things, but I am who I am in part because of them. They were all incredibly strong women who had thriving careers as teachers and made a little history along the way. But both of my grandmothers were abused and ended up being single mothers, so I have a feeling they'd never want me to settle for just any guy or make myself small for someone else knowing what they endured. There are absolutely worse things than being single for the rest of my life. I have literally been through the abusive relationship myself...for 9 years. That is no way to spend a lifetime, just because society says I should have a husband. All 3 of them were also very outside-the-box kind of women. They didn't live by society's imposed standards either. 😉

No. This is life from a female perspective. Men are human DOINGS and our worth is entirely defined by what we do and what we produce. Only women have the privilege of being Human BEINGS, where you simply have to exist to have value. You might not like it, but nothing is ever going to change that fact. It stems from a matter of biology, which is if all men but one died, humans would go on as the one man could impregnate many women, but if all the women died but one, humans would cease to exist. This is why women are naturally protected in traditional societies and why both genders have an overwhelming bias towards women. Your point is also contradictory...if all people have this innate value, why are you so traumatised by them? Why didn't you just accept the people exactly as they are, instead of placing demands on them to provide for you emotionally? It's their failure to provide their assigned gender roles that has caused your problem, not their lack of doing it. They failed to fulfill their traditional gender role to cherish.

The longer you are fine being alone, the less patience you will have with the man you eventually meet. You will become so accustomed to being alone that you won't really want some man coming in and forcing you to compromise.

So true. I'm just doing me, playing video games, painting, keeping it simple. Me and my dog. I tried a few of those other things, but honestly, it's just easier to keep it simple and play solo. Not falling for the Hollywood movie life story.
