This is a bonkers way to go about it! Job pools, queues. Sell the house, get on a plane and come out here and then apply for jobs. If you’re prepared to go rural for the first few years he’ll have a job within a week. It’s not going to happen by sitting on some list though.

Coming to Australia on a long holiday is not such a bad idea. You could use the time to visit private (independent) schools and your partner can present his teaching history and qualifications and speak to someone face to face about his options for teaching in the private system and his plan to live in Australia. One face to face is worth a thousand emails. Sometimes you need to take your fate in your own hands.

Have you considered looking at the private systems here in WA , that takes you away from the Ed Depart of WA and pools etc and talking directly with private schools . There are so many private schools here and they aren't all elite and full of privilege, we have a lot of so many low fee paying private schools , who would be blessed to have you guys.

We are finally moving to Australia in January after years of waiting and skills assessments and all the rest of the 1000 things you have to do. So happy we waited that bit longer for our 190pr visa. Never give up. I know how hard this process can be and there have been times we have felt very similar, limbo living is not for a the faint hearted. You’ve got this, maybe do a trip out to Australia come back and get on the grind for your 190pr. Xx

I dropped out of the pool because i got a job directly with a school so this will give someone else a chance. I would strongly suggest that you apply direct to schools outside of the department for education as well. Independent and faith based schools offer visa sponsorship too. Now you have TRBWA approval there is nothing stopping an employer sponsoring you in WA. Look on Seek and apply like crazy. I would also suggest if you see a school you like in the pool then send an email to the school. Unfortunately a 3 year degree he won't pass the skills test with AITSL. When you are sponsored you don't need a skills assessment but you can get approval for the teaching registration board licence. The skills assessment is for foreign nationals and they won't budge on the 4 year degree requirement. Once he gets a job he should do a remote MA so you can eventually get PR. It will happen for your family.

It’s unlikely to get a job from off shore. It’s not impossible though. Most people come over and work on temp contracts and relief until they get a space. Can you do that maybe? Schools here tend to have less permanent teachers and a lot more casual. Being on shore makes it a whole different ball game, so much easier. In all occupations few companies will consider off shore applications. Take the leap and just come, if you can. I’ve just listened to the rest, sorry I thought you had a visa. Definitely get your own visa. 100 percent. I’ve seen so many people in this situation. It’s all promises from these companies and they never happen. Make your own destiny. Get your own visa so you can be free to go wherever you want. My friend has just don’t this as a teacher and she has done the whole process in 6 months. From skills assessment to visa grant. Don’t let others in charge of your destiny. Our journey was 15 years in all but once we did it we went all in with it and got out here in 2 years and that was during Covid. It can be done and you can do it. You’ve come this far. I’d also come on holiday and approach schools etc

Take a step back and maybe chat with some loved ones to get some peace and comfort. We are still processing our EOI and praying my wife can get a transfer to a role in her company in NSW. If it happens it happens but if it doesn’t we will find a way I’m sure. Take a breath. Wait. When you come to Australia, you are going to have to learn and be patient. We have times of quickness and slowness and a time of stopping and resting. We are in our resting period. People don't like it, but its a time for stopping. We got moved and we didn't know what was going to happen. But we had to make decisions and then as we made those decisions we learnt about the process, us and our decisions if they were right or not, we were facing homelessness, but we have a new place to live in within a week, which to a lot of people at present is unheard of, apprecaite having a roof over our head, so we appreciate that which we have been given. It is all unfolding bit by bit, and all the problems get sorted out. And now we are in a new area, where we bought land and we want to build, but we are only now 1 minute away from our acerage. And still its a very slow and quick process. We are in a waiting period, so we are in down time, rest, quiet, peace, recovering from the process that has been absolutely difficult at times. But we haven't fully left the old area either, we are still moving out. There are problems, dramas, tears, fears however there is also patience, learning, living correction and peace, quiet, rest before the solutions come, Learn to breathe, learn to appreciate all the waiting moments, that you could be using to catch up on rest and recovering from the too quick moments, that are like a whirlwind. In Australia patience is needed, necessary and valued. So learn to breathe and breathe through it, particularly when its out of your control and hands. Learn not to get upset, because it will be valuable to you, your family, child and any future children, that you can pass on to your children and family.
@mariatateofficial2 ай бұрын
It deffo feels like this is all preparing us for the thing that comes next, so trying to do exactly as you've said and just breathe, enjoy things as they are, and be patient. Thank you for your comment and support!

This looked really hard to talk through, I can feel the pain. Your kids will look back ok these videos when they're bigger and be so grateful of you, keep at it, don't give up. I'm sure you've explored all options, so don't take my advice, but perhaps a skills assessment and going down the 491/190/189 route isn't a bad idea? Paperwork wise it's no more than you'll already have done, and your partner will get extra points for superior English if he does the PTE Exam. This is what I did, and with the extra Superior English, points, plus the 491 state nomination points, it made me eligible and eventually got an invite for 491. Ive been waiting for the grant for almost a year, but I have seen these come in weeks for teachers. It also means you're not tied to an employer sponsoring you. Just a thought, and again just ignore me if you've exhausted that avenue! Chin up, it will happen.
@mariatateofficial3 ай бұрын
Thanks Scott, I felt like it helped me process how I was feeling because otherwise I'd have kept it all in being at home on my own today. I think that's likely going to be the option we go down. I've had a look at AITSL and they're seeing a 2 month backlog in applications, so will be worth us getting it in asap. With us needing childcare for my youngest and school for Ella, I think the PR route visa's are our best option. Even though we saw a positive result from the teaching registration, it still scares me spending so much money on the skills assessment when the first page says 'MUST HAVE 4 YEARS OF EDUCATION TO BE QUALIFIED'.

I would apply to all the other states, get a position and then transfer to your preferable state. Get your foot in the door first. They are desperate for teachers in remote sites. My sister had to start teaching at schools she didn't want but got to one she liked. I am surprised as they are losing teachers due to retirements now. You are going through what everybody goes through, there is doubt and hesitation but once you are there you wonder what you worried about. My parents were 10 pound poms who came without anything in the bank and in the end would never go back to the UK.
