Callum, I have lived with cats for quite a while, and I can tell you that cats like people who don't pay them any mind. Basically, they don't like being given a lot of attention out of nowhere, so that cat will like you much more than Amy if you continue to treat it indifferently. If you decied to keep it, you can always keep a victory over her because it will almost certainly like you more than her.

If kittens learn to adopt aggressive behaviour towards humans and particularly hands, when they grow up, they are more likely to randomly lash out at people, especially when they are petted.

Hello Callum veterinarian here. First of all that is an adorable kitten, he is lucky to have an owner like you that engages with it and worries when it is not around but that's normal for cats since they tend to explore and hunt by themselves. First off try not to be rough with the kitten when you play with it, it encourage aggressive behavior and it will attack you more often when it gets older. Secondly you say it poo'd on your bed, be wary of Toxoplasmosis Gondii and make sure you sanitize areas it poo's that is not the litterbox. Finally you say it poo's with you in the room and walks around showing you its behind, that is normal and means the kitten is conformable around you since pooing for animals is when they are vulnerable (hence why dogs make eye contact when they poo); however the kitten is most likely seeing you as a potential mating partner and is showing you its private parts to tempt you into sexual coitus and wanting you to bum it. I think you would make a great partner for your kitten and try not to be too rough with it, they are small and you could hurt it with your size.

I wasn't used to fast, manic dogs because my family dog was old and didn't go out much. Once she died and we got the current family labrador when I was 17 I became more of a dog person. Same thing with cats - family cat died when I was 8 and we didn't get another until I hit 20 and that was a come-home-from-work-and-hit-with-the-news type event for me. She was attached to me as a kitten. Then at 21 I moved in with someone who had 3 cats and they all gravitated towards me and I loved them like they were my own kids. Even though I don't have cats or dogs now, I appreciate both and love cats more than I ever have now. Beautiful creatures. Next step - send a French exchange student to Callum's so he does a U-turn on the French.

You can actually get nasty infections from cat scratches. Just make sure you wash it out if they draw blood.

@@Harryhas26 CSD is not a nasty infection lol. And the bacteria only occurs in 40% of cats at some point, usually as kittens, and the chance of the bacteria being transmitted is also low. If you clean daily(or just chuck a bit of TCP on the scratch of you're paranoid) there is maybe 1/10000 chance of you getting the mild infection, much more likely get an infection from any other minor puncture wound like a rose thorn. Stray cats on the other hand do pose a risk
