Wake up people. Put the bikes side by side they are almost identical and Magicycle absolutely copied Himiway's website. I bought a Magicycle when they were $1000.00. Brakes were terrible but switched to Bolton hydraulic. Magicycle customer service is terrible.

At $1,299 delivered (no tax either) was hard to pass on the MC. The differences seem to be improvements, like the 52 volts, 3 amp charger vs 2 amps for the Himiway, color display, battery remaining percentage, power in from the left instead of thru the freewheel. Looking at the Himiway manual I don't see ways to set the PAS percentage levels like you can with MC.

Yeah they look very similar from afar. Once you get up close you realize they're not similar at all. First magic cycle has a way better frame design than Himiway.. ....That's the first thing . then you if you look at the motor you realize the motor cable access the motor different... ( easier to work on if you ever have to fix) and a few other small details, such as quality control🤔! But the most important thing of all. Is good customer service.. And it's clear ! That Hemingway does not have this.( 3 bikes 11month with no help.. But I do love riding the Himiway,. After writing the magic cycle I just felt it to be a more stable and comfortable ride. The way I see it, Magicycle's low price was enough for me to pick it. I'm also finding that the frame is easier for me to modify, since the screws that hold the battery link and lock block can also be used as mounting points for a custom battery box.

Had my MC about 1 month and 200 miles so far. Had to swap the front rotor, could never get it to bed properly, installed a 203mm Magura Storm, rear was fine. Also installed the hybrid Juin calipers from Bolton, really like the improvement. Not feather light effort like my brother's full hydraulic shimano's but much better than stock. A bit pricey but super simple install vs converting to full hydraulic.

You could point out that the frames, while similar, are different. And although they both have 750w motors, they are not the same brand. The Magicycle does not run the power cord through the center of the axle, so I would expect the axle to be stronger on the Magicycle.

If I had to choose between these two it would be Himiway based on shear ethics. A lot goes into the development, design, engineering, aesthetics, marketing, website design, product promotions, etc... For a new company to come along and copy another companies bike is ethically unacceptable. I wouldn't care how much I could save with Magicycle. The Chinese knock off's across so many other industries is a multi BILLION dollar industry and it will never stop unless they feel the financial impact. I'd support Himiway 100%! I'm currently looking for my first e-bike and just overwhelmed at the number of choices. That's a two edged sword, too many choices to pick from can paralyze a person from making a decision but on the other hand it makes for good competition to keep the prices in check. What kind of company would take a Hemingway video and put it on their actual website for unboxing? Also, the parts the bike share are pretty much 80% of the same parts that they don’t engineer or make so yes they’re basically the same bike. There’s not a huge difference as you suggest. How many people on here have both bikes and can make a reasonable comparison to say magicycle is better.

What part of the Himiway bike is truly custom in-house designed that was copied? It is a race to the bottom of profit vs price in the e-bike market. If you look at all your 750w rear motor 4" fat-tire bikes under $2k, at least 60% of each bike will have parts in common with at least one other bike. There might be some trendsetters, but when what makes your bike unique consists of off-the-shelf parts in a new fancy combination, then you can't legitimately call foul play. You can't patent the e-bike. Unless you patented some part that Magicycle is using, it is just bad faith bullying.

Of the 2 bikes I'd prefer the MagiCycle. Ok they seem similar to the Himiway, but I thought Himiway was copying the Rad Rover when they first showed up on the scene. A hub drive fatty is pretty much a hub drive fatty. Starting to look like the car industry. Little innovation but lots of imitation. Hard to be too innovative though, as the tech to propel you on two wheels has been around for a while and most of the kinks have been worked out.

I prefer an XT90 with spark protection to a cradle but connection types are limited so many e-bikes will have similar connections to each other (I know many other DIY builders can use my batteries if they have an XT90 connector, doesn't mean their bike is a rip off of mine). Note: the controllers must be similar in specs too

I honestly would prefer the Cheetah bike. But if I had to pick between Magicycle and Hemingway, I would go with the Hemingway due to their reputation. As I feel like Magicycle has harmed their reputation, simply by the appearance of having copied the Hemingway almost to a microscopic level. Now if my dad was still alive, I am sure he would have gone with the Magicycle. The only problem with that was, that he felt like if you had a car you did not need a bicycle or there was no longer a use for a bicycle.

MC stock amps is 15. 15 amps X 52 volts = 780 watts MC max amps is 22. 22 amps X 52 volts = 1,144 watts However it won't do that all day, it will start cutting power. I have my amps at 22, max PAS at 70% which is 800 watts. Throttle is full 1,144 watts and only for short bursts like intersections, out running dogs, etc..

got this bike and I was riding it for a few days to get a feel of it and I didn't like it compared to my other ebike. I asked to return it these guy said it has to be less than 10 miles and when i talked to the agent about returning it he never mentioned once about riding it less than 10 miles for it to be accepted for return. It's like their hiding that 10 miles so if you go past it you have no other option but to pay for a bike u don't like. In addition, I ordered a front basket with this bike and it's been 4 weeks and I still haven't received it. Also, the free bag didn't come till after 21 days. Terrible customer service and bad product. Wouldn't buy from here again if they don't want you to know that you can't return it past 10 miles atleast make it 20 miles. Go with himiway instead of magicycle.

Himiway mis sold me my bile and only changed the sales policy after a number of complaints from th3 UK. They are also charging postage prices either equal to, or more than the parts you need, with no way for us in the UK to have a choice if we need an item. The 2 year warranty is also pretty much useless here. And if a part goes wrong, you have to jump through hoops to prove it and you have to pay for the spare and the delivery too. Himiway aren't as squeaky clean as they pretend to be. Would I buy another bike from them...no way! I will go for a more local and reputable company

I would and did choose Bolton(Area 13). Had to replace my PAS on yjr Hemi Cruiser. It was not hard, but not knowing much about ebkes it took effort. Part was free. "shipping" was $16(the part is plastic and about the size of a half dollar.The 1st ride I did after replacing PAS I went uphill for a mile and a half the motor overheated. Hall sensors maybe. So with 160 miles on it it's awaiting me to troubleshoot and repair.Since I was afraid of losing the summer I decided to retrofit my MB with a kit.I needed someone I could trust to pick parts better than myself and Himiway. So I picked Area !3. When whomever handed out customer service Area 13 must have gotten Himiway"s share of customer service along with there on. Had to buy a puller for 1st repair, got to get a larger one for the motor. The Himiway battery is working well on my Area 13 build.

The best way to change the power is to change the controller and imo the best way to go is a phaserunner controller because of the tweak ability of it. Yes, it is more money but it is worth it to me. You can get up to 90 amps and it is compatible with up to 72 volts I believe and they are very compact. It has field weakening for an added boost and it is completely computer programmable. Well worth the money. I have one on my home built bike and love it. I prefer the himiway for it's 17.5ah Samsung battery. Even at 48 volts it's a better battery with more range. Added amps would make up for the 52 volts. Himiway all the way for me. Great video.

I think the braking problems you were referring to in the video on the Magicycle were on the initial release of the bike. They have since went with a 2 piston Tektro Aries MD-M300 mechanical disc brake system. I just got my Magicycle yesterday and the brakes work fine. I’m sure the hydraulic brakes would work even better if a person wanted to upgrade from there. So far, I love my Magicycle! $1529 after my $60 discount code - no sales tax & free shipping. Only took 5 days from ordering to arriving at my home!

You say that you can't feel a difference in the batter, but a higher-voltage battery 52v provides greater efficiency, with the battery using less electricity to provide the same or better power for the bike. If I had the option, I'd always choose a higher voltage battery just for efficiency and less stress on the controller, IF the controller isn't a cheap on. :)

Already owning a pre-Blackbird Blackbird, I'd not be very interested in either. I'm VERY happy with the Bolton and and have 5000 miles on it, as well as another 1000 on a commuter. Best part of this video was the handsome old guy in the background buying a half price Avedar C3 mid-drive. It's exactly what he wanted in a mid-drive, semi-trail bike to add to his stable of bikes: Blackbird, 750W commuter, and now the Avadar.

himiway has a 17ah battery while magic's is a 14ah I believe . Compaired to other reviews the himiway can go 27mph for 30 miles throttle only and the Magic's can get up to 32 mph I believe but for only 24 miles.

If Himiway was serious about the issues with Magicycle, an attorney would have written and sent the letter. Instead, a PR Spin Doctor, sends a letter to a disinterested third-party - Bolton eBikes? Hilarious! Magicycle copies Himiway after Himway copies Rad. The Himiway bikes appear to be made by Haidong. Since Haidong and Himiway share the same warehouse address in CA, it wouldn't be a surprise Himiway is the marketing arm of Haidong. I bought my Himiway a year ago for $1349 and currently have 1200 miles on it without a problem. Of course I have modified it quite a bit Tannus liners, Thumb throttle, leather grips, handlebar stem riser & adjustable stem, Bolton hydraulic brakes, zoom suspension seat post, bike a roo seat, mirrors, alarm, bike lock, 11 x 34 freewheel, and a 52 tooth oval sprocket. At 71, 6 foot, 275 lbs I can still hit 32 on flat ground for a short distance, and get about 45 miles on a charge. Still love my Himiway but thinking of trying a mid drive now.....in between buying or building one from a Trek I have???

I have a Himi also with many of the same mods as yours. I also have a Trek 7200 I have been thinking about modding to mid-drive. They only thing holding me from doing that is loosing the disc brakes. True you can change the wheels and ad disc brake adapters to the front and rear, but why. I have also thought about modding the Himi to a mid drive. Would relace the rar wheel to remove hub motor then add the mid-drove motor kit using the Himi battery.

Every eBike manufacture uses the same suppliers for the equipment, such as the LG or Samsung batteries. Just like the PC, nobody make they own parts, they all came from different suppliers, such as the chips or the video cards. Same as the automobiles, many parts are from different suppliers, like Magna? So I guess Himiway can't say Magi copied their brand. I agree with the website, but not the bike. I have compared many 20" fat tires Ebikes, the Himi Big Dog and the Magi Ocelot Pro were my final picks, I have decided to go with the Magi because it has a more clean look and better reviews, and yes, they both look completely different, except the parts that came from the same suppliers.

Five Guys burgers vs. In N Out Dbl Dbl... Hard to compare when one is $8 and the other is $4. Five Guys might be better (but) at twice the price? Err, no way. Magicycle is way cheaper. Basic math is it's a better deal. You do need to go into the setup and change the initial setup for the PAS settings. It jumps on PAS 1 (too much). I set mine closer to the Rad Rover 5 settings (5 levels at even settings). I did the Bolton Junitech brakes too and it was very much needed. One thing I don't like is the PAS sensor will not kick in at times. If I'm going 22 mpg and set PAS to highest stetting - it knows I shouldn't engage because I'm traveling over 20 mpg. It almost feels like it want to downshift to slow you down like a manual transmission on vw bug. Not cool - but very good bike for the price. Got mine for 1200.

My eldest son is a translator in Mandarin so he has dealt with a lot of Chinese manufacturers so it's interesting that there are lawsuits between these two Ebike suppliers and I say suppliers because neither of these two companies actually manufacture anything. Design perhaps but China does not honour patents so it should be thrown out.

@@omen2467 yea I have joulvert stealth ebike , there base in nyc. It's a 350w 9.8 amp it's nice but it was time for something faster, waiting for my magicycle and I may sell my other or just keep it .

What bikes do you offer for people who are larger in size, 300-350lbs?

I'm ~380lb, living in a mountainous area, and trying to get into ebiking, on the bolton site the only thing I found was "The Lancer" 19in. Which IS actually rated for my weight, but even at 3000$ it still lacks all the basics like fenders and racks and the seating position looks kinda aggressive but I can't tell. All of these points are moot anyways caz the 19in lancer is sold out.

@Master Phoenix All of Himiway's bikes go up to a 400 lb payload weight limit, except for the Escape (330 lb limit) and the Cruiser (350 lb limit).

ive ordered a magicycle. never seen a himiway. I don't have an interest in their IP fight, that is for the courts

Seems to me that most of the bikes in this segment of the market all use pretty much the same components such as shifters, cassettes, pedals .... to pick out just one bike maker based on that seems ... erm ... silly?

My 48v battery charges to 54v so maybe the bikes are very similar in power when fully charges.

I purchased my Himiway in 2019, love it. I'm now in the market for one for the wife. Looking at the Magicycle because of the 52 volt system. I'm 6' & 270Lbs. any added torque for the hills would be a benifit worth dropping to a 15mh over the 17.5mh battery on the himiway??
