Sometimes we just have to face the fact that we can only do SO much for clients! But, if they don't want to be honest with themselves its up to them we try our best to be honest about the condition of their boat especially if money is tight and they are struggling. How have you handled such situations in our own life or business? As they say sometimes the "Truth Hurts"

Have had some issues with 5200 in the past, but this is rare in my experience. Never found any other product I trust as much below the waterline, though. My biggest gripe about it is that if you're not very careful about cleanup, you will have 5200 on everything you own before the end of the day!

I've had exactly the same problem with 5200. Came out tacky and never seemed to set. I had used the same tube for a tiny job a few years before, so maybe the fact that the tube had been opened caused the problem. I didn't check the expiry date on the tube. We wanted to seal a gasket in the cabin which was above the waterline, so anything would have worked. Perhaps 4200 or Sikaflex would have been a better choice

I have had trouble with 5200 taking a long time to set up. I have learned to give it at least 48 hours to cure. If you don’t give it that long your are going to have a problem if you’re submerging it. If it is out of the water then given enough time it will cure and when it does cure it’s be best adhesive I ever used.

hose of that type, but not limited to those hoses only, dry rot, crack, more over here is a test if the engine is runnable, spray it with a combustible fluid, the engine dies or accelerates now you know, often maybe every three years, it's not about waiting, it's about being proactive. it all goes bad, if it is a suction transfer type hose under Exstream heat, check it often to see if it will pull fluid through the carcass of the hose, the same for doing that check on a running engine to see if it speed up or die. Doesn't matter what brand / flavor the unit is, the same check fits them all, old school, smoke test is an other means for testing for vac leaks, or other wise. I had super duty cat hyd-hose, so cooked hard, never leaked a drop, remove the hose, brake in half like brittle plastic. I hear tell that salt air / water pretty much has it's way with everything.

@@WillFixThat I certainly got the impression you folks are customer oriented and do quality work. Perhaps the company is having quality control problems with the 5200 product. Many of the component materials our manufacturers are now using are sourced from offshore suppliers and who knows what is in that stuff? By the way I was a City Manager for over 40 years and we equipped our water and sewer plants as well as our pump-stations with devices to “soft start” or phase start the pumps. When several high hp electric pumps kick on the demand meter jumps, and phasing or “soft starting” saved us on the electric bill and maintenance and repairs from spikes and surges. I can imaging what a big “spike” draw could do to a boat with quite limited electrical supply.
