I was a little skeptical because there are a lot of lessons out there that try to teach songs the "easy way" but not the original way they were played, which is what I think most people want. Lovely, thanks! As for the tone, I saw some guy in another vid recently messing with a Boss auto-wah pedal, and at some point he got wide eyed and paused like "ooh, that reminds me of..." And started playing this. Sounded pretty spot-on to me...

John is using a Q-tron with the dead, I have used the micro q-tron and gotten success too. To be honest, any auto wah / envelope filter should get you there

I think he uses an Envelope Filter (EHX Q-Tron) to get that funky tone

Damn it! I always tought John was using an Auto-Wah pedal, but with the tone rolled down sounds pretty similar to the song. Must be the Big Dipper pups he has. Apparently thos pups have a different eq. Anyway, great tutorial, mate. You nailed it!

Just fyi . He uses a Qtron Plus pedal for that spacy sound on the live version and probably studio version too.

He uses the Adrenalinn multi-effects pedal. You can get really close to that tone by using a volume swell and an auto-wah/envelope filter after it.

If you use an auto-wah, then you get that tone with a strat. An auto-wah that reacts to how hard you hit the strings.
