The reason I chose to make this video is actually explained by me in the recording.
I don't think its fair that people can get away with terrible workmanship like this, someone has to pull them up and point it out to others.
I wouldn't be doing my job responsibly if i let shoddy efforts like this slide under the radar

Very true. It rings true with how they were talking about themselves. Telling anyone that would listen how good they were and what extreme circumstances they work in. Merely subterfuge to aollow them to try and make some money before they got found out.

A good tradesman never makes mistakes like this. I'm glad you rectified it without hesitation-that shows a good spirit. I am also a tradesman and have never made such a mistake, following the skills I learned from my super seniors. They were all good-hearted people, and I am very thankful to God for learning the basics from them. I work in the oil field and couldn’t start a channel like yours, so I created one focused on relaxation and entertainment. I’d appreciate your support. I have said this before. A clerk of works (CoW) is needed before people/contractors get paid. Once people are paid they are less inclined to come back to resolve issue for free. People who pride their work would not leave it like that in the first place and secondly if they were called back for an issue. They would get there and fix the issue FOC (Free Of Charge). This is why people like Tony have a great reputation at doing his job. When Tony leaves site and tells you it's done, you know it is done properly.

Is it a UK thing to use armoured cables in domestic and industrial? Not very common in other parts of Europe, unless at a farm, where rodents are present.
@petermichaelgreen
@petermichaelgreen Ай бұрын
Afaict In the UK SWA (or AWA for single core cables) is the norm for. 1. Any private underground cables (the electricity distribution industry have their own cable types) 2. Anything three phase 3. Anything bigger than 50 amps or so. 4. Anything you want to be able to conceal without having RCD protection. SWA is not normally used for small final circuits in domestic and commercial premesis. Those are usually wired in either flat "twin and earth" cables or singles in conduit/trunking.
@jointechcabling9103
@jointechcabling9103 29 күн бұрын
We use them where there is no secondary containment ie trunking or conduit. Ladder rack and tray are used to tie the cables to, they can provide some protection but it is minimal

Point it out to your customer, and offer to fix it. For a price added to your original offer, of course. They can go claim it from the original installers. Make sure you have everything properly recorded before you offer it. Pointing out to the customer that that shitty job could cost them the building if it burns down might motivate their choice. Then offer to come check any other work that person did for your customer. :)

People changing the numbers on cables and connecting them wrong is beyond poor workmanship; it's dangerous - both to anyone in the building generally and electricians working on it. Personally, I would tell the client I can't safely do the work until the problems are fixed, and that any fault-fixing is on a per-hour basis. Then do the agreed work for a fixed fee.
