Miss Dalia is right about the soothing effect of chickens. I'm a cynical loner, awkward socially and subject to deep depression, but tending my backyard hens somehow dispels the darkness. Making their lives engaging and safe fills me with hopeful joy, something everyday life doesn't give me. Hens transformed my life.

I love my pet chickens, they are going on 6 years old. There is some sort of peace around them. I love how they come home to roost by themselves. How they come to greet you and say hello. How they cluck when another chicken is on their nest. Just something very special having them in my backyard makes my yard feel like home.

I agree we would all be better people if we all spent time with chickens everyday! I only wanted 3 hens for eggs and fertilizer for my garden 8 years ago. I now have 10 roosters and 23 hens and have gone from being nearly an invalid to regaining 80% of my health!!! Chickens and goats have been my physical, mental, emotional, social and even spiritual therapists.

So true 😊 I never thought I’d love my chickens the way I do. When I’m stressed I go out to the them in my back yard m, they come running to me and we cuddle 😂! Correction I grab one of my feathered butts and hold them close and they let me. They relax in my arms, I put my fingers through their warm feathers and down … and they take the stress away… even if it’s for a small moment. Then I reward them with treats and thank them for being my emotional therapy chickens. My rooster is my main man, he lets love on him until I let him go from my cuddles or sometimes he walks away and pecks at my pants until pick him up for more cuddles. They are bloody amazing animals and I will never look at Chickens the same again.

I thought with a red light in the beginning, red around chickens would be a safe color. I had a Rooster attacking me several times, now I wonder what I have been wearing! Great TEDx talk! You are a natural Madame President!

You’re so right Dalia about the peace I feel when I’m amongst my flock. I’m not quite sure how I survived 56 yrs without my chickens. Thank you Mrs. President!

Thank you for this beautiful Ted Talk Dalia. I have tears of joy listening to you talk about chickens with such love and passion. I've just completed your course, learned so many things. And I can definitely confirm personally their natural ability to eliminate any kind of stress in a matter of seconds. This was what amazed me and got me into chickens. They rock. They are so underestimated. Wishing a great day everyone.

Most awesome talk. Sharing you on my MeWe, because now is time for chickens in the yard. They help combat Global Warming because there's eggs in the yard, we eat less beef. They make us less lonely and they're beautiful. Why am I crying?

'Domestication' is more cruel than slavery. It means not only that we see them as property but also that we modify their DNA to suit our needs, but is harmful to them. Unfortunately domestication is still seen as a positive thing.
