But I really would had rather gotten a truck so I could easily continue with everything exactly as I have been with my gas F150. I just got an email from Ford that I could place my order the week I bought the EV6. Then this passed weekend my local Ford dealer called saying they got a Lightning in.. exactly specs I was going to order.. same color too. Was thinking to go up and look at it tonight again.. but after seeing this video on the Chev I'm really excited to see the range in these getting better and better. Maybe should just be happy with my Kia and wait another year or two and see what's to avail down the road. Pretty cool stuff! I've never been pro any specific vehicle manufacturer.. I like alot of vehicles for different reasons. So this competition will be really fun to watch! I do like this truck! In fact... I like whatever works!.. Ford.. chevy.. who cares. If you build something that meets everyday needs for a realistic price to everyday people then you probably got my attention!

@@Fdjt4ever yeah thats a hefty price tag no doubt! The Lightning they brought in at my local dealer was the Pro standard range with tow package and a couple other options.. I believe it said about $4k in options. The price was $61k. If I recall my build out a year ago with all these options was about $56k. That's when into price was still $40k. So I'm not sure how they are crunching the number today.. but overall it's about $5k more than my build out price. However after getting the EV6 with a 300 mile range it's kinda hard to want to go back to anything with less range. Hopefully as mentioned above that with a couple more years of innovation and competition and charge station build outs and an increase in EV sales we will see some better prices. Unfortunately it's also difficult to see a reduction in price if people are already paying the arm and a leg price.. what's the incentive to reduce price despite cheaper production in coming years?... idk.. just have to wait and see.

51:30 - The thing I think is most interesting about the F-150 Lightning is that it's…. An F-150. A random person seeing the PRO version would be hard pressed to tell it apart from the ICE version. It shares a ton of parts with the ICE version. The Silverado EV and RAM are completely different vehicles from their ICE counterparts. Sure, they may be nice trucks, but they're different vehicles. And that will cause "hardcore truck people" to still be hesitant, no matter the specs.

Ram EV shares it's whole body with a 2019 Ram. Only the front and rear are different. This is what disappointed most people after they showed the Revolution concept just a month before. Even the interior is mostly the same. Seems like a mistake to bring their first EV truck based on a 5 year old body that will be due to replacement soon after. In short, it's the same amount of difference from ICE F-150 to Lightning except Ford was smart to bring Lightning to market just over a year into this F150 generation.

I love what Kyle provides in terms of EV coverage and all, but when I hear someone say "drives/handles like a sports car" I just roll my eyes. My Model Y Performance has a great handling and I'm sure other companies could do better, but it still drives like a really nice driving CUV/SUV. It's just too hard to change how cars handle because of ride height, weight, size, etc. The battery pack in the base helps a lot - but it doesn't change the riding dynamics that much. This will be one of the best driver trucks (minus the noise if that's what you're into) on the market. It will not replace a Porsche 911 (or even a more average sports car), even if the straight line speed is comparable (up to 60mph*). Obviously, this is a WT model (and no responsible adult would ever do something bad in a work truck 🤣)... but the non-WT will be insane fun! Good job Chevy!

What the world needs is a mid size to smallish truck that fits in regular home two car garages! So frustrating there isn’t anything out there for many years now. 😢

"All the money went to the battery pack" Yep that's how I feel about my 2015 Chevy Volt. GM doesn't ever change haha. Still, super excited to see these available! Personally I think the Sierra EV looks better though?

A lot better. The Chevy and hummer look like they were designed in early 2000s, weird considering the current ICE trucks look great and modern
@KaiPonte Жыл бұрын
First thing I noticed is the sail panels. Nice! I miss my Avalanche but not the 12 MPG. Too bad this doesn’t have side cladding like the Avalanche for a work site. The F150 seems like a better truck. Wonder if I can get a 2002 Avalanche and convert it to an EV. Though the review is nice, my concern would be with long-term quality. I found GM has done cost cutting to the point of low-quality interior bits, which degrade quickly. This does seem like an excellent truck for a fleet or worksite.

120K on my 02 Avalanche. Does the Work Truck have a pass through or fold down behind the rear seat as a bed extender? (I might have missed it). I noticed the high end truck had it. Sliding the 4 x 8 plywood into the Avalanche is a trip!
@KaiPonte Жыл бұрын
@@sethemerson885 Wow! I already have almost 16,000 on my '22 Ford Mach-e. My Avalanche would have well over 300,000 by now if I had kept it. I did love having the ability to put in large items and lock them under the hard covers. Once held a cub scout meeting on top of the truck.

Impressive specs for sure. Let's see if they can actually produce them, GM haven't shown the ability to produce ultium based vehicles yet.

It weighs 8,500 pounds! My F450 weighs a mighty 8,222…Kyle lost me when he said, “It has the balance of a sports car…” lol

Great job, Kyle. The fancy version of this could replace my diesel Cayenne for towing my travel trailer. I think just as these, the Ram and Cybertruck start selling in volume, Ford will come out with its new electric truck platform and continue to own this segment.

Like that it looks like a "normal" truck. Would like it to be distinctive though. I want to make a statement when driving up to my solar customers. My Rivian has paid for itself already in terms of customer appreciation. I do like Chevy's refinements and thoughtfulness. The Rivian has a lot of cool "out-of-the-box" features, but it also has a lot of not well thought or tested out details. I much prefer my BoltEV for just general driving. Much more ergonomic. Will keep my Silverado reservation and expect to get the simple, lower cost version as we will use it as a local work truck.

Whoa, what is better in the Bolt? I've test driven a bolt and just found it to be cheap and plasticy compared to my Rivian.
@gregcollins3404 Жыл бұрын
@@boneman1982 1 pedal driving is way better. Has double the efficiency. Bolt is about 4mi/kwh, Rivian is about 2. Cruise control is better.

It is going to be real interesting to see how the Cybertruck compares to these EV pickups in pricing, specs and features. And of course real life performance. Initial CT will likely be the top end model.

Thank you for clarifying why the Silverado EV WT is priced as it is. A competing channel kept harping on the price, as if there wouldn't be cheaper priced and lesser range variants.

Not a fan of the plastic "grille" insert but I love that it follows the Bolt's (R.I.P.) design language.

I got a look under the truck, TOO MUCH STEEL EXPOSED! Up north here in NY that would rust up and look like crap in just a few years. This is where Rivian has a huge advantage! I know this is not a huge concern in many places, but up here; its everything!

The lights don’t have a button because its set to Auto by default. Which means they come on once it starts to get dark, or foggy, or they come on once you hit the wipers. Plus they auto switch from high and low when you meet other cars. They are going away from people needing to turn on lights and dim them and have it be done automatically by default. So its meant to not be thought of anymore while you drive, but i guess that isn’t intuitive on how to work it but its because you are meant to work it manually anymore so you can focus on other things instead. My 2017 bolt has a button but in my years of owning it, it has never been touched once. Just sits in auto and works great. Which is probably why they removed the button now. It is barely used. Might as well put something else in its place.
