You are not supposed to see inside that gear shifter, the dust cover has torn apart in this example, luckily it's a cheap part to replace as it was shared amongst many vw audi vehicles of the time

I’d be more than happy to sell you mine i’m actually looking at buying the Rolls-Royce ghost currently currently and I’m thinking of selling my 2014 Flying, Spur it now has 53,000 miles on it. It was just recently tuned up and it has brand new tires. I’m gonna be listing at 60 or best offer.

That gear is broken, you're not supposed to see inside when you put it in drive.
