That feature drives me absolutely crazy on my wife's RAV4. It is not a smooth pleasant experience at all. Sometimes I actually check the mirror to see if someone just bumped me. What's worse is I ALWAYS forget to push the damn button to turn it off when I start the car. Found out the hood latch has a switch that turns it off when you open the hood for service. If you unplug the switch it thinks the hood is still open no longer works. To my surprise there's no hood open warning while driving. Guessing there's probably a similar switch on the brake pedal as well. Hopefully the Tundra has the same hack because that feature is absolutely horrible. At least on the 4 banger engine it is.

The missing V8 is a problem in this generation, many will skip on this truck. I do heavy towing and can already feel that these twin turbos will wear out pretty fast. @Nflguy49493 жыл бұрын
Why do you like it better then the pro?
@mixflip3 жыл бұрын
@@Nflguy4949 I like the pro if I planned to never make any changes and keep it all factory. The value would probably hold strong in 10 years or more even. But I plan to lift my truck a bit. Put method beadwork wheels with toyo open country MTs or ATs. Maybe an icon suspension. Aluminess or ADD bumpers with a warn winch. I've seen the SR5 with power seats and 360 backup camera which are 2 must haves for me. I can always put katskins leather seat covers later if I really want leather on a budget. And I don't like the looks of the 14 inch screen as much as the 8 inch screen. It's much cleaner looking with the 8. If I'm going to modify my truck then the SR5 is a good starting point.
@Nflguy49493 жыл бұрын
@@mixflip That makes sense. I want the version that feels most comfortable driving on paved roads. I’ll likely never take it off-roading aside from occasional snowy roads on road trips to Colorado. The 2021 model I felt the TRD Pro had the best feel and comfort on paved roads despite being equipped for off-road. So I’m very curious to see if that’s also true for the 2022 trim levels. It really stinks that TRD Pro won’t be available until March 2022. I will want to drive the different trim levels before laying down $60k+. I also heard that the TRD pro won’t come lifted from factory like current model does. That a lift option can be added by dealer. But then your trusting the workmanship of your local dealer. And I’m concerned it might negatively effect ride quality.
@mixflip3 жыл бұрын
@T-boe the first again...I didn't say it would get exactly what Jon got. Toyota actually offers a factory 2 inch lift. I'd try that out for a while with batter off road tires like 35s and see how daily life with monthly camping trips turns out.I'm not interested in a Skywalker mall crawler lift kit. Hell I might even go with a leveling kit if it allows me to run 35s. Just like jeep does on the newest models. No lift with 35s is a thing nowadays. Also if I go from 26mpg down to 21mpg with better off road tires....thats a penalty I'm willing to live with. Remember my factory 2014 tundra got 13mpg with street tires and no lift. That's horrible. So 21mpg with 35s would be amazing (for a tundra). Also back on point....why would I buy a TRD pro trim for $80k then remove $20k in trd suspension, trd bumpers, TRD tires, and TRD wheels? Just buy the SR5 and have fun modding. At the end of the day why would you care what anyone does? It literally doesn't effect you. I went to SEMA a while back and a wealthy shop owner bought a new hellcat...removed a zero miles hellcat engine and installed it into a jeep Rubicon wrangler....just to show it off at SEMA. Did I care? Not one bit. Was it a waste of money? Absolutely. Was it fun? Hell yes. Did I snob him and lookndown on him? Hell no. I wish I had the money and skills to do what he did lol. Life is short. Enjoy it. Even if it means pissing a few Karen's off.

@@mixflip Hell ya that’s the way to go why pay so much for an expensive truck when you can get base model and customize it to your liking probably cheaper anyways. Dealership called me this morning and said that in a day or two, they will be given their allocation numbers. They will not be taking custom orders for the first wave or two of trucks so I’m hoping the truck I want just happens to be one of these spec trucks in the first waves.

Glad you soy boys are enjoying all the little fun toys on this thing. OMG it turns itself off !! My 2020 has a load on it, and is hooked up to a 14 ft trailer (also loaded to the max), and we're ready to go to work, not simping around playing with all the new toys.. No, I doubt you want to attempt this, it's called work, and the 5.7 ci, V8 in my truck can do this all day long, through the desert. But you enjoy your toys, and be sure you don't get any "work" on that pretty little truck.

It's not that good. Think f150 hybrid comparable numbers as it's the same setup and probably worse since nickel metal hydrate battery is heavier than Ford's lithium ion. Engine is also not running on Atkinson cycle like a Prius.

There's a several second delay after stopping before it actually shuts off. That feature is still annoying AF though. My wife's RAV4 has it and it drives me crazy. Her steering rack and brake booster are electric though, so no engine vacuum is needed for normal operation. Guessing because they use the same basic parts from the hybrid which turns off regularly while driving? Wonder if the Tundra will be the same since there's now a hybrid model too?
