In this video, I show you all what ownership was like for the 2022+ 3rd Gen Toyota Tundra after one year. I put 15,000 miles on this truck throughout my time of ownership. Aside from a few issues that the dealer was able to fix and some that weren't, this truck was amazing to own.
I enjoyed road tripping and just daily driving this truck over the last year. It's been great and I am glad that it gets to stay in Florida.

@John DoeI can’t speak on what numbers you managed to Google to try to ease the pain of your butthurt, all I can say is I’ve had ZERO recalls and ZERO issues on an almost 10 year old vehicle. Of course Ford has issues, every company does, all I’m saying is Toyota is putting out products with issues that should have easily been spotted in testing. As an adult I feel i should use this as a moment to teach you a life lesson, don’t call a stranger a bro and then call them a clown bc you will get punched in the mouth, but this won’t pertain to you bc you’re a keyboard warrior. I just hit my one year ownership of my 22 platinum. I’ve found more than a few things I’ve noticed so far that bug me. First off the IQ wireless charger has been virtually useless as it constantly disconnects. The deployable running boards have started to slow down, and don’t deploy as quickly. I have also noticed they will sometimes freak out and fail to deploy / retract. I could list a few other pet peeves I have, but I love it and it’s been an absolute blast to drive. And I’ve driven across the country and many a states without any issues.

I’m curious why you would want to trade a truck so perfect in the first place? What exactly does the new truck do that you’re truck isn’t capable of? Towing, hauling? I bought my truck in 2010 and it works great, never occurred to me to trade it for basically the same thing. It’s like a hammer once you get one why look for a new one? To each their own though, but I always hear people say they had a perfect thing but got rid of it.

I just drove my 2024 TRD Pro from AZ to Cali and back and it was awesome smooth as butter! Such a great truck super comfortable. I’m super happy with my truck @ 2k miles now so far 100% stock. Hoping I don’t have any of the issues others have discussed in the 2024 I hope they’ve ironed most all of it out. I’m happy to have the first year they’ve blacked out the headliner and full interior as well. Especially now that they’re discussing rumors of a redesign possibly for 2025/2026. I hope to have this truck for years to come it’s perfect. 🔥

So I just turned that off. But other that and thinking it should get a bit better mpg. It’s solid and quick.

Sounds like a lot of quality control and cost cutting on certain components with the new Tundra. Also the cost cutting on interior quality and sound deadening are not a good look. Is def the loudest interior in the market among full size trucks, which is surprising since its a brand new model.

The previous model doesn't really have any flaws. Toyotas are popular because they do their primary function well. They run. Chevrolets, Fords, and the Ram trucks are breaking down left and right. My step-mother recently bought an Escalade. It has somewhere between 30 and 40k on it, and the engine is done. The dealer is rebuilding the engine. They will not replace it. She paid over 100k for this vehicle. Then the dealership left it parked outside... after promising that they wouldn't (she is VERY particular), and it sustained significant hail damage. They didn't even call her to tell her. She went up there to check on it and found out. Then these yahoos told her that she would have to file on HER insurance. This is not an uncommon occurrence. I know this because the dealership knew exactly what was wrong with it as soon as they got it.

I just sold my 2023 Tundra Limited after 9 months with 20K miles. It had $3700 of options/packages. I bought it new but started having lots of issues that were all fixed under warranty. But paying $55K it should not have all the problems it did. I got $53K from Carvana, I am going back to a 2024 4runner (5th gen) because of the "Hopefully" still reliable old school interior and engine, transmission. Both driver and passengers side plastic seat panel cracked, dash cracked, entertainment system was very unreliable, cruise control faulty, gas guage did not show correct fuel level, etc, etc.

Wouldn’t buy a first Gen. Thanks for being honest. The Tundra weathered the storm. I’d buy one for the bulletproof drivetrain. Your long drives helped reveal issues. Future tundras will be better. Wish it had less hard plastic inside. Soft rubberized materials - not leather, would help image and quality. I like the cloth seats. I’m interested in hybrid - can’t wait 👍

I have a 23 platinum hybrid. And my biggest complaint is the gas mileage fraud. Something needs to be done about this. They need to be heald accountable for real. The Interior space is hideous. There is nowhere to put anything. This is a home Depot truck for retired people. The hard plastic scratches really easy. This is not a road trip truck. I'm 5'11 I barely fit in the truck. No storage anywhere. Almost impossible to eat lunch in the truck. The engine sounds like a Scandia go-kart and my dealer refuses to turn off the fake sound. The truck feels like it's going to die every time I stop at a stop sign. Stop start technology has a long way to go. But the worst part is the mpgs fraud. I really hope someone files a class action lawsuit against the lies they claimed. I bought the truck based on the mpg rating completely unacceptable. This is my 10th Toyota and by far the worst. I've loved all my other Toyotas. The lack of a home button on the infotainment Center is just completely unbelievable...and the suspension and Driving Experience is harsh. It struggles to go up hill, not the power but the trany. Now the platinum grill is chiping off. The windows are really loud. The dealer ship refuses to fix the broken phone charger and windows.

I appreciate the content and look forward to seeing how the TRD Pro holds up long-term, but if I ever do bite the bullet and get one of these 3rd gens, I still might stick with the non-hybrid motor. My main reasoning is that's the drivetrain you get in a 300 series Land Cruiser so from a longevity standpoint it has to be good, but also, I really do like that storage space under the rear seats. Maybe you can come up with another storage compartment/rail system of some sort when you get the new one.

After a few shifts it get smoother, but…. It handles good, no complains there, but again….I expected more. Felt the same thing with the Lexus LX600, but a little bit quieter. I honestly wish all content creators would boycott any TRD Pro models. Toyota has been artificially creating the illusion of demand by intentionally manufacturing far less TRD Pro’s than any other manufacturer does with their off-road models. When Toyota dealers can go an entire model year without having a single TRD Pro on their lot for sale, that is an issue that Toyota should address. Instead they seem to make fewer each year which drives up the purchase price a truck that has far fewer features than similarly priced versions from other brands. Add to that their ridiculously long refresh cycles, and Toyota is a brand that smart consumers should avoid.
@TRDJon

It allows it to be exclusive though warranting the “premium” price tag. Trust me, TRD Off Road is the way to go, but business wise, views wise, and viewer interest wise, for some reason people enjoy seeing the pros.
@Toglander

@@TRDJon - If your reasoning is correct, then Toyota doesn’t understand basic math. They could make FAR more money by manufacturing more TRD Pro’s than by artificially creating the illusion of demand. It’s one of the reasons Toyota’s sales were down almost 10% last year.

@@Toglander It also makes their dealers look like Greedy Jerks for those of them that are continuing to ask well over MSRP. To be honest they are greedy jerks. (not all).Customers are keeping score on the dealers that are greedy vs those that are not. Toyota is blaming their dealers to your point for a problem they caused. As long as there are folks that will pay above MSRP then the issue will continue. Welcome to America!!!

I sold my 23 Tundra, due to being so disappointed with the changes. It was my 3 rd tundra. The motor was fine , I didn’t like the smaller size leg room on long trips, and several other annoying things. Especially the engine auto stopping at red lights and having to change settings to be able to back a trailer without it locking the brakes. Also NO FRONT TOW HOOKS !, Wait problems with the AC cooling efficiently. Sooo. I bought a 24 Nissan Titan Pro 4x. IMO it’s a better truck. 19 MPG hwy with the V8 is impressive for the Nissan. The stock Tundra is now a chick truck unless you plan to spend a lot extra money.

That is why I still prefer Toyotas that are made in Japan. Folks look for VIN that starts with "J". Sadly in US market few models are still made in Japan. There are some Rav4s and new generation 4runner are still made in Japan. Quality and reliability issues arises more frequently when they outsource the manufacturing.
