Problem is BMW has mastered the I6TT. These will have to be extremely tunable, reliable, and cheaper to compete. I’d have a tough time taking this over an M340. That’s apples to apples. 100% Agree! Right on point with BMW, also the rest of the European market. Which makes me wonder if that's why they went the Hurricane direction, is Shitlantis using the American market to production test an I6 TT engine for their European brands? Much cheaper to do it here than Europe, given the stricter emission standards, fuel standards, etc... over there.

I’ve been a mustang guy for 30 years so I understand all the guys here screaming V8 till I die but I’ve also owned a 3 litre twin turbo BMW for five years. An inline 6 is so vibration free when you first drive them it feels like they aren’t running. They make peak torque from 1400rpm straight to redline and the depth of your wallet is the only limiting factor in power potential. They just make power everywhere, down low, midrange, up top, if you’re in the right gear you hit the gas and go! It’s true they don’t make the noise of a V8 but thankfully they also don’t make the noise of a V6. Like it or not seeing the taillights of something powered by a turbo I6 is just going to become more common

@@averagerecon9777 don’t kill yourself with a car payment, just buy something older and cheaper. Get something with an N54 or and N55, the reliability issues are overblown as long as you don’t buy one that’s got a million miles and hasn’t been maintained. That way you can have some fun and mod your car instead of putting all your money into a payment. And don’t think those B58’s aren’t going to have leaky gaskets and problems when they’re hitting 120,000 miles, easy to talk about reliability with 40,000 miles and two years of warranty left. I’ve got an E92 N54, had it for 5 years, done the plugs and coils and I’m about to do my water pump so other than oil changes I’m looking at about $700 over 5 years in maintenance. Going to walnut blast it next year, do the oil filter housing gaskets and a valve cover and gasket at the same time preventatively maybe $1000 for all that and the year after that I’m going to do a turbo upgrade and while I’m down there I’m going to do the oil pan gasket. Anyway my point is if you’re young don’t overspend just to have something new and flashy that’s not what the car scene is about, you need to have enough left over to actually enjoy life. You don’t want a big car payment stopping you from getting a house or going on vacations or just hanging out with friends, nothing kills the joy of having a nice car like having to sell it.

@XboxAlive
@XboxAlive 5 ай бұрын
Nothing sounds better with an open exhaust than it does with a proper exhaust setup. V6 sounds completely different than an I6 etc etc etc - not everything is about the amount of cylinders, and no engine should be dumping sound straight into the atmosphere without a proper exhaust setup. Joe Dirts car may be valuable at Barrett Jackson but that doesn’t mean he dumped his v8 into a straight pipe and it sounded good just because it was a V8. Modifying your car wrong to make it louder doesn’t make it sound good. Loud good.

I saw that vid on KZbin where the entire body was off the chassis just to get access to some fasteners on the rear of the engine. As an old working auto tech, this was mortifying regarding my attitude toward Stellantis and their movement to get rid of Dodge, Chrysler and maybe Jeep and Ram. Also, what happens if a person purchases a new Dodge and they unfortunately go out of business? I've been driving Dodge's of all forms, new, rusted out, powerful and powerless since the mid 70s. Sure I've owned lots of other stuff too, GM, Ford, Honda, and even a couple Saabs! But between working on late model cars and seeing what's coming in the horizon....it's scary. @@hpickettz34 So with that mentality it would be ok for modern passenger jets to constantly fail while in the sky? They have a thousand times more tech than a modern Wagoneer, yet they rarely fall out of the sky. Technology, if built correctly and with quality is extremely reliable. The Gen 4 Viper had probably the most advanced PCM ever designed in the early 2000's...in fact, nobody has been able to crack the code so it can be modified (bummer). As hard as it is to believe, my 2009 Viper is classified as a low emissions vehicle according to the government mandated EPA emissions sticker.....600 naturally aspirated horsepower and low emissions....Yeah, that was real simple to do. Lets face it, Stellantis is crapping the bed in many ways. Another 18 months of this and they'll be sold again. However I6 sounds better than a v6, we’ll have to see on reliability. The only non wear and tear item I had to have repaired was the 6 CD Changer which I had a new changer put in it with a local old timer like me, I'm 72. He had it out of the dash in less than 5 minutes and back in the car in 5 days. The Charger has 33,500 miles on the 5.7L V8 and the only thing I have added to it is a OIL CATCH CAN. I put a new set of tires on it at 33,000 because I have too much fun laying down some rubber. With the new set of tires I have learned a good lesson and only did one burn out since they were new. I am only putting between 3500 and 5000 miles a year on it. One oil change a year with Mobile 1 or Pennzoil Full Synthetic for both cars. My wife drives the Altima and the HEMI is mine,LOL.

Well. I'll say what I've have heard as of late being a major issue. So basically, there's a thermostat issue that is causing engines to overheat/blow because a cheap plastic piece within the thermostat snaps and sits in place preventing the engine from cooling down. This is happening at very low mileage (5-20k mile)wagoneers with hurricane regardless of the variant in the car. It's getting fixed and dealers are addressing the issue,so I'd wait for them to recall them first or wait another year before buying them(tho other issues seem to be electrical with the wagoneer that may pass over to the new 1500s).

But coming from being interested in tuning and having some background and knowledge with BMW tuning and their engine platforms potential. This engine in an American truck has me very excited to see the power potential with mods and tuning. This engine has the same specs and technology that the bmw engines have that are easily capable and reliable handling big power at higher rpm. I would love to be a part of creating a big single turbo kit for these, especially for the new RHO truck owners where they can most likely make enough power in mods to beat the predecessor 6.2TRX. Then make people realize these engines aren’t a joke. Also in hp numbers, we’ve always wanted to see a 6.4 in a 1500 Ram. The HO Hurricane power number wise is like putting a 6.4 in a 1500. And it’s about time.

I had a 2018 Raptor and had the MPT 93 PRX tune loaded to it since 1500 miles. Two years later and around 26k miles I traded it for a 2020 Ram Limited because I wanted to see what it was like. I loved how smoothly it rode and the self leveling suspension while towing but the Hemi was just weak compared to the tuned Raptor. So 22 months later I was back in a Raptor and the 93 PRX tune was loaded two days later. It’s been a little over two years with this Raptor and it is still running great. The power is fun and there when I need it. Maybe if I hadn’t had a tuned Raptor before driving the Hemi I would have thought it is fine but I just love the low end torque of a boosted motor! Almost forgot to add, if I had been paying attention that the Raptor R was coming out I would’ve just waited a little while longer and bought one of them but finances got tight last year for a few months so I couldn’t just trade in this Raptor for one. Things are back on track now so maybe soon.

@carlwemple6075 their test was up a mountain. They have yet to test it on flat surfaces to my knowledge (not saying the same isn't true, I just haven't seen the video). Also, while this may matter to some consumers, the vast majority of owners will never even tow with their truck. Also, the EPA doesn't care about economy while towing. They only test in ideal situations and they care even more about smog rating than MPG. The hemi was one of the worst smog rated engines on the market. The hurricanes are much better and get better EPA ratings. That's what stops Stellantis from having to pay as much fines.

Ive driven the grand wagoneer with the v8 and it is comfortable, roomy, and when it comes to power and sound, its good! Also driven the inline 6 turbo HO wagoneers and yea its faster, but my spark of it was just, "eh its ok for what it is, just fast". Im a sound guy, if it doesnt sound good, i wont own one! Maybe trade my srt durango for the grand wagonner with the v8 class for the roominess and some sound it makes.
