Fun fact: the reason that the Green Place's water "goes bad" is because of GasTown In the lore, the way that The People Eater (the bloated leader in Fury Road) gets gas is through fracking, which caused a bunch of run off that turned the Green Place into the swamp that the blue part of the movie takes place in

Then when the plants started to wilt they over watered using irrigation not understanding that completely either, trying to keep the plants alive they killed them. The nutrients then polluted the water source... it happens a lot in small communities who have farmed for generations without really understanding gardening let alone large scale farming or forestry. There were also those weird things in the resultant swamp so could have been that group of... whatever they were... which polluted the ground/water.

​@@liamnehren1054Not only is fracking fluid itself a water contaminant, the process of fracking also brings radioactive materials, heavy metals, and crude oil into surface run-off. If the Green Place was contaminated by run-off from fracking, then the water would absolutely become poisonous and kill the local flora. And if the Green Place is downstream of Immortan Joe's dam, then there won't be enough flowing clean water to dilute and push away the poison. The place will dry up to a swamp and then a dryland where, at best, only the hardiest scrubs can grow.

So you mentioned the weird girl and woman he keeps having flashbacks of Fury Road. I can kind of explain it, there is a comic book prequel and tie in series that occurs right before Fury Road. Basically, Max comes upon this town that’s having a death tournament and the winner gets a sweet V8 engine, which is exactly what he needs. He competes, and ends up beating some gang leader in the final match to win. In typical fashion of course, the gang ambush is him afterward and steals the engine he needed anyway . He’s on his way to go reek typical mad Max revenge, and get it back from the gang; but a woman who helped him during the final match (by handing him a flare to help win) asked him if he can get her daughter back as well as she was kidnapped by the same gang. Long story short he agrees. Max rescues them and is successful, and they all seem happy with each other hugging. She asked him to stay, but max refuses even though he’s clearly thinking about it. As he drives away, he sees another bike flying towards the town he was just in. He hightails it back, but he’s too late. The guy who returned was a form the gang seeking revenge. And the mom is dead as the daughter/girl lays dying in his arms. He buries them and sulks while walking away. So those are the two he has visions of in fury Road.
